  1. Yes if they all pass i wouldn't be surprised if they are all here by lunch time tomorrow. The risks of staying longer are too high.
  2. Makes our forward line much more potent and harder to defend on Saturday night. The good news we needed after losing poor old Tommo.
  3. Yep...we.would not be where we are now without Roosy coming in. He built the base line into the culture.....Effort, Defence and winning or at least evening up the contested ball. Sure, he was only there for the contract/dollars but he instilled the above while there and the rest of the pieces are now being put in place.
  4. Sorry thought that was a dude. P.S. she might be enjoying it! P.P.S. how do you know that's a woman?
  5. When was the last time the MFC appealed a tribunal outcome, let alone won one?? Rumpole or Mr Leg over to you!
  6. For sure but that was pre-Choco. This is the post-Choco era. He'll be fine!
  7. Dogga reminds me just a little of a taller version of Dermy... and i'm talking the VERY young rookie version of Dermy. As to where his development and career takes him from here? I'm sure he will no doubt be (and already is) very different also and write his own story. A very juicy start though that's for sure. Good luck Dogga....fingers crossed, salt over the shoulder, spit spit & all that.
  8. Talking LJ now on SEN... think it's with Peter Sumich
  9. Petty hasn't demonstrated, to this point, that he is a solid defender at this level from what i have witnessed. Maybe in the VFL sure. He is much better suited as forward IMV and we already have too many tall forwards. Has to be Tmac back with either of Weid or Mitch Brown coming in for mine. At this point i think Brown ...just and i mean by a bees you know what...due to his marginally better defensive / pressure work and ground ball gets / uncontested (work rate?) possessions once the ball hits the ground. Weid appearing to have the edge in contested marking in general and marking inside 50. Funnily enough Mitch has the edge at marking on a lead. Would have though the Weid had him covered here. However, having said that i would be happy to see both of them given a block of matches each over the next few months and see who brings home the bacon. The winner then takes the spoils for the remainder for the season! Yes i know it doesn't work like that in most cases but we are in a very good position at this point. https://www.afl.com.au/stats/stats-pro#/Compare?playerIds=CD_I290622,CD_I993806&comparisonTab=h2h
  10. You can't play all four up forward. Tmac will have to go back surely
  11. Any chance we can put a moratorium on Outs between now and Saturday!
  12. Must have been seeing things, thought Petty didn't play with Casey last week? Out injured?
  13. Speaking of which Paulo, and yes i know one game does not a summer make but... That one game produced 6 score involvements, 8 effective disposals, 2 goals and he also laid three tackles inside fifty. The closest to that last one on inside 50 tackle averages so far this season is Kozzie with 1.86 then TMac with 1.43 Let's say Tmac is used to replace Thommo.... should we consider replacing him with a potential multiple goal kicker who might bring similar or better heat inside 50? Keeping in mind Weid doesn't have the greatest record here in the last few seasons, averaging only 0.38 per game in 2020 and 0.55 in 2019. Unfortunately as good as he might be at times with the mark/kick side, he just doesn't bring the heat at ground level, or hasn't so far anyway.
  14. Weighted Average Scores up to & including Rnd 7 , 2021 vs 2019 Not the greatest debut in the Red & Blue from BB but should be given some latitude to find match fitness & form and for the rest of the boys to find him as well. Spargo & Chunk just hanging in there at 21st & 22nd although Chunk did move up two places from 24th at the end of the previous round so not too shabby. Oskar sneaks in to the 22 but one week against the bottom rung team obviously not a solid indicator. Max and ANB the biggest drops from last week after pretty ordinary performances, dropping 4 and 7 places respectively. Melk drops out of the top 22 and not for the first time. Kozzie & LJ hanging on to 9th & 14th. The Team's (top 22 players) average score is a massive 17.5% above the awful 2019 and just above 2018's average by 0.75% Player 2021 Score 2021 Rank 2019 Score % Change vs 2019 2019 Rank Change in Rank vs 2019 Clayton Oliver 5.307 1 4.643 14.30 1 0 C Salem 4.489 2 3.658 22.72 3 1 Steven May 4.195 3 2.446 71.50 14 11 C Petracca 4.046 4 2.616 54.66 10 6 Ed Langdon 3.911 5 Jake Lever 3.907 6 2.313 68.91 17 11 Max Gawn # 3.811 7 3.256 17.05 4 -3 Jack Viney 3.450 8 3.068 12.45 5 -3 Kysaiah Pickett 3.089 9 A Brayshaw 3.079 10 2.894 6.39 6 -4 James Jordan 2.946 11 Jayden Hunt 2.818 12 1.958 43.92 22 10 M Hibberd 2.817 13 2.124 32.63 20 7 Luke Jackson # 2.714 14 T McDonald # 2.629 15 2.150 22.28 19 4 Bayley Fritsch 2.613 16 2.641 -1.06 9 -7 M Brown* 2.475 17 A Tomlinson 2.475 17 Trent Rivers 2.446 19 Oskar Baker* 2.325 20 1.714 35.65 29 9 Charlie Spargo 2.282 21 1.375 65.96 35 14 Nathan Jones 2.214 22 2.711 -18.33 7 -15 James Harmes* 2.150 23 3.850 -44.16 2 -21 J Melksham 2.100 24 1.931 8.75 23 -1 Tom Sparrow 2.087 25 1.075 94.14 37 12 Alex N-Bullen 2.054 26 1.984 3.53 21 -5 H Petty* 1.900 27 1.905 -0.26 24 -3 Neville Jetta 1.888 28 2.264 -16.61 18 -10 Ben Brown* 0.750 29 Average Team Score - Top 22 70.04 59.62 17.47 # Hit outs to advantage not captured * Only played one match not an average score Stats courtesy of footywire.com
  15. Form is a fickle thing Buck. I'm sure the boys will knuckle down this week. They can't all have a half of footy, some a whole game, as bad as that again this week i hope. Viney out is a big blow let's hope its not the old 426 issue. Fingers crossed.
  16. Thanks Kent. Real pitty about Thomo but hopefully Tmac can play a similar role. Time for the Weid to make his 2021 debut you think?
  17. Rnd 7, 2021 Blundstone Arena - Kangaroos vs Demons Strange game indeed and a round to forget. Nonetheless a win is a win and it does give us a tad more breathing room in a points sense. One of those rounds where the stats, in many cases, have little correlation with who did what and who had the most impact on the day. Mind you it wouldn't be the first time or the last but this one is up there as being a real doozy. Is it just me? Possibly i wasn't watching closely enough but not sure i would have had May in my top three or even five. No doubt the coverage from side on doesn't show a fair wack of what goes on behind /off the ball either. However, i suspect many of the possessions that went towards his top of the table outcome (statistically) were cheap ones lateral and/or on the switch. Wouldn't be the only player nor the first time. Plenty of defenders rack them up in this way as well. Even the kick ins count i believe. Now i usually focus on the positives here, but the last time a player received a negative weighted score for a whole match, at least without being injured early and not taking any further part (a la Tomlinson), was Joel Smith's Rnd 19, 2018 match vs the Crows with a -0.300 Statistically ANB's - 0.100 weighted score ranks as possibly the 2nd worst in the last four years. Let's look at some of the numbers. 5 effective disposals running at 50% DE, one 1%er, two inside 50s, 4 score involvements, 181 meters gained, 2 intercepts. Finally....Zero tackles and 8 turnovers! Hibb the only other player not to lay a tackle in this match! Not counting Thommo for obvious reasons. On the flip side a big positive. Young Jordan. Cop some of these for outstanding as a rookie... 18 effective disposals running at 90% efficiency. 4 Clearances, 4 inside 50s, 7 tackles (one inside 50), 7 Score involvements, 260 Meters Gained, 1 Goal and only 1 turnover! Nice work young fella. Top three for score involvements... Fritsch 10, Kozzie 9 & Tracc with 8. Top three for Meters Gained... May 552, Tracc 539 & Clarry 438. Top three for Intercepts... Lever 9, Salem 8 and May with 7. Top three for Tackles inside 50... Brown 2, Equal 2nd were Salem, Hunt, Dogga, JJ & Kozzie with one a piece Top three for Turnovers... ANB 8, Melk 6 and equal third Clarry & Tracc with 5 each. 18. For mine it all started with that first contest between Max & Goldy. Max barely got a trot up and only just made the contest. Then when the ball hit the turf Goldy tunnel balled it backwards towards their goal (which should've been called a throw), one of their players cleared and pretty sure they scored from that shortly after. They were off with tails up especially after the 2nd in a row. Now Max has had a very good year. Not questioning the big fella's contribution. BOG in at least one match & fabulous so far. But at times today he looked like he was playing in an E.J. Whitton legends game after a big night reminiscing on the turps.
  19. He is the equal of any likely replacement pushing up from the McGoos at present in terms of his mop up and link man role. I understand him being managed occasionally for a freshen up but that's about it. Yes he is fringe 22 but still just inside 22. But here's the rub vs alternatives...he is also very much the spirit, the essence of this club/team. Was it any coincidence there was no zip / intensity at the start of the first half without Mr Jones? Tow ball is as important a link as anyone and his inclusion ensures the caravan stays coupled to the 4WD and completes the journey. Keep him in as much as possible.
