  1. Just there for the free booze perhaps? I don't have an issue with Sache as cheap back filler. Essentially a Mitch Brown replacement. I just don't know why you'd trade Weideman for peanuts only to end up with an equally underwhelming option. Unless we think Weideman will leave next year and we will get even less than third round pick for him perhaps?
  2. We lost on the Jackson trade, but at least we won big time on this one. Absolute bargain for a top 5 AFL ruckman.
  3. Yes but why replace Weideman with someone 10 times less capable? It's not like Weideman is taking up a heap of cap space.
  4. The fact he met with Freo mid season only further supports my thinking that he knew last year too that he was going back to WA and had he been honest we could have traded him last year for a lot more. Including Cerra. Was obviously hoping for another flag.
  5. I wasn’t happy with how he or his manager handled themselves and the last 24 hours have not changed my mind. The only reason more supporters aren’t angry about this charade is because we won a flag last year with Jackson playing a big part. But guess what, we would have won it even without him. Would he have been a RS, a premiership player or gotten a $7,000,000 contract without Melbourne? No he wouldn’t have. Seems ungrateful. Don’t wish him ill of course, but don’t wish him luck either. The grass isn’t always greener Jackson. Enjoy the WA bubble. You’ll sure as hell want to perform now!
  6. Didn’t watch it. Assume he didn’t say thanks to our club for making him the player he is?
  7. West Coast the big losers here. Lost Rioli and pick 2 for pick 8 and 12? Seems bad. They must have a few good WA talents they want at those picks. Port absolutely creamed this deal.
  8. Let’s see if Jackson returns the same courtesy to us with a nice thank you.
  9. Except that clubs that need points already have then, and this is meant to be a shallow draft. Besides we can't trade pick 27, how do we get the Grundy deal done without it?
  10. How do we get the Grundy deal done then? And who would take picks 13 and 27 for pick 6?
  11. I really hope you are right. Mahoney was the king of this period. Not sure if we've lost our edge since he left.
  12. I am so disappointed that the club has come out and said we want 2 top 10 picks for Jackson and more than pick 44 for Bedford, and somehow we agreed to both deals that we didn't want. I am all for getting deals done, but this has really been a bad outcome unless something magical happens and we turn the Jackson picks into gold.
  13. Well now the Jackson deal is done, we have nothing to gain by trading Weideman unless Essendon offer us something decent. Perhaps their second round pick to on trade for Grundy, or a third round to sweeten the Grundy deal or bundle up with our second round to move up? We gotta get value for this deal. I know Weideman is a bits player, but we are so short on ruck and forward depth, and we have invested so many years into him. To lose him for a pick we won't even use, is just silly.
  14. Gold Coast need Bowes off their books, not pick 7.
  15. Well that is a very disappointing outcome. We clearly took well unders. I wish Freo continued mediocrity.
  16. Didn’t the club come out and say we aren’t trading Weideman? What happened?
  17. This would be the only acceptable outcome if we lose Weideman to make the Jackson trade happen. Meek at least gives us some depth. We have absolutely no ruck options beyond a 30 year old Gawn and probably a 29 year old Grundy coming off a year long injury.
  18. I don’t like this. We are getting rid of depth we desperately need to satisfy goddamn Freo in a trade for Jackson? Seriously?
  19. Fair to say we will all be cheering Freo for the spoon next season 🙄
  20. Because West Coast have literally come out and said they hadn't met him or had discussions with him but are interested in him. Yet he has already toured the Freo facilities like it is a done deal that he is going there. No wonder Freo think they can just throw us day old breadcrumbs in return.
  21. We are about to lose a player we invested pick 3 in just 3 years ago for basically well below market value. I have no issue with him going home, I have an issue with him waiting to tell us he wants to go home once he was out of contract. I would have much preferred to trade him while in contract, and I am sure so would the club. We have never said no to any player who wanted to leave for personal reasons, and I doubt it would have been different with Jackson. We are a fair trading team, but sadly the same can't be said for every other club. His intentions were obviously made clear to the club months ago, and yet he never had serious discussions with West Coast, which basically forces us to deal with Freo, who know they have nothing to lose by screwing us. Nor has he or his management ever come out and said "if a WA club can't compensate Melbourne, Luke will sign on with Melbourne". Even if it's a bluff, it forces Freo's hand to start being more flexible and shows he really does want to repay the club who gave him a RS and a flag and made him into a player worthy of a massive contract at 21 years of age.
  22. I despise them. They are the worst club to deal with outside of Essendon. And thank you so much Luke for waiting until you were out of contract to run back to mummy when last year we could have done a fair deal for Cerra. Just trash all around.
  23. Greene is a massive time bomb waiting to go off. Immensely talented but has a fuse so short it’s a risk not worth pursuing.
