It would be the biggest mistake to trade Clarry in order to appease Trac, when we all know Trac won’t stop looking for a “brand management” move. If we trade Clarry it’s because we have decided our window is shut and we are trying to capitalize on the high value players we have. Or because something amazing has fallen into our lap and we need the picks to make it happen.

And why would we accept a trade if we don’t clear his entire salary off the book?

We backed ourselves to get him fit, which I always thought was strange when even Burgess couldn't do that at Adelaide. Ultimately at almost 30, it seems very unlikely that he will ever be able to get his body to a good enough position to play consistent AFL football. If he doesn't have a ripping pre-season, we can say that this trade was a complete bust.

I think their involvement came in the form of: "hey Trac, we tried but we can't get you to Pies or Blues, please stop this nonsense". Exactly right I suggest we try and bundle this pick, as well as the other second rounder we have which is tied to Sydney (from the Grundy trade), and try to move down the draft order. There are a number of clubs who need points for bidding.
