  1. He’s a lot cheaper and has a lot less competition for a spot as the only experienced tall forward this side of Casey.
  2. Met with King on Thursday. Meeting was scheduled last minute as Clarry had a flight to catch that day which was booked a while ago. USA trip via Sydney (probably flying Sydney to LA- done that one myself for work many times). The leaks to the media started even before the meeting which is what is truly concerning here. Either Clarry’s management got a stench of trouble coming, or someone internally leaked it. Either way Clarry’s manager would have been on the phone to I assume both GWS and Sydney knowing Clarry was heading there anyway and with them both having shown interest in him previously/ throughout the year. He then met GWS yesterday. It literally doesn’t take that long to arrange a catch up. We are not living in the dark ages. And GWS knowing they had a small window to meet Clarry before he headed off on his planned overseas trip, made it happen quickly. It’s not that difficult to understand, and it absolutely doesn’t point to Clarry planning to leave all along. Clarry was all in on staying. We even heard it from his manager. Things obviously changed when King got to the club and was probably told some things he didn’t fully know about.
  3. I’m honestly not surprised at what this thread has turned into. I think it’s perfectly reasonable to assume that Clarry was upset to find out that the club may not be as all in on him, as he is on them. We heard in the morning from the media that it appears like Clarry may be available, and it would have taken a 15 minute phone call to his manager on Friday to arrange a meeting with GWS the next day. How long do you think we’ve been planning that impromptu walk around the tan with Humphrey? My bet is no more than a day or two. An opportunity presented and player/club/manager jumped on it. Hardly unusual and hardly a sign that Clarry has planned this all along. Either way, what we know for sure is that King wants change. I hope that whatever happens from here, Clarry is happy and healthy and is somewhere he feels wanted. Regardless of what you think of him, he’s still a person who has given a hell of a lot to this club and he deserves to be well.
  4. I remember the bitchin when we got Ben Brown. Worked out alright. Welcome Brody
  5. I can’t imagine we are selling him good vibes and Casey as draw cards. Stupid money will have to come into it. Edit: maybe we offered less for Flanders than Saints because we want to go as hard as possible for Humphrey
  6. How about suitcases full of cash?
  7. If Flanders is worth pick 7, there is no universe in which Trac is only worth 6+13. The club won’t accept unders for Trac. It’s a hard sell to members and players. Just won’t happen. More chance Trac is back in red and blue than he’s sold for a couple of middling picks in a poor draft.
  8. Heath chosen the Saints yet?
  9. Humphrey + pick 6/7 now the only realistic path for Trac to get his wish. Otherwise the circus has to move back to town for another 12 months
  10. Very disappointing And a rude wake up for King and the rest of the club. You want to turf out star players like Oliver for one reason or another, and you think you’ll be able to walk good players back in. But that’s far from the truth. If we don’t get quality in the draft, the reality is that right now our ability to get even mid level quality players to our club is minuscule.
  11. Odd person to follow as a 23 year old
  12. How about Jonesy? Did he also start following him today? 👀
  13. Oh no Lindsay is gonna ask for a trade to Gold Coast too?
  14. A flag at the Suns makes Dimma one of all time greats, and we all know Dimma is more in love with Dimma than Trac is with Nonna’s bolognese. And Dimma is not at the Suns for a long time. He’s there for a good time. He wants to succeed quickly. He has no patience for building anything again.
  15. You know Saints probably gave Flanders 14 years at $1.6mil a year. Ross probably stole Jack Steele’s pasta and gave it to Flanders at dinner too.
  16. If I’m GC I realise that it’s time to win a flag and grow the profile of the club and I’m doing whatever I can to secure a once in a decade opportunity to land a high profile, mature, proven finals player.
  17. I said yesterday that Kosi must be looking around wondering WTF he’s signed up for. This could get him back off the ledge.
  18. The irony of Trac ending up in front of the massive crowds of Gold Coast, and having JUH as a teammate is absolutely hilarious
  19. Waverley would be an interim location while Caulfield gets built is my understanding It cuts the to and fro from two locations Happy to be corrected
  20. No they’re not. Flanders is contracted and exploring options. He’s surplus to needs so they’ll trade him but likewise Saints have nothing else to give the Suns. The Suns are in the market for academy points and established players. And the change to academy bids doesn’t start until next year
  21. If he was, he’d have gotten a kick out of meeting Jonsey today
  22. You understand that Humphrey is contracted and Gold Coast don’t want to lose him. 4 clubs can all want him, but so far only one has something that would pry Humphrey out of their cold dead hands. Unless Collingwood, Hawks or Carlton can magically offer them a Trac alternative, he won’t go anywhere. Of course he still has to want to come to Melbourne. Because the same is true the other way, GC can’t force him to move to us. This is basically why Adelaide couldn’t get the Trac deal done. They had no assets. So all nice to say we want a contracted player, but it has to be mutually beneficial for both clubs.
  23. That entire family sounds unhinged
  24. As I said if they wanna throw us Ainsworth I am not mad about it. But he adds not much to the deal IMHO. At this point I want Humphrey. Everyone else is secondary.
