  1. He's far too young to retire and literally the fittest player going around. Everyone needs to calm down, it was reported that we are in talks with him, and clearly there is no rush as we are not concerned he will leave. We had other priorities with guys who were being chased hard like Petty. Ed strikes me as the type of guy who screens his manager's calls and will eventually remember to sign a new contract when he finds time between bouldering. He's a good enough player that if there was any indication he may leave, there would be a lot of noise being made about it in the media. Or if he was trying to get more money, his manager would float him around.
  2. Given we are out of finals contention and I expect the Pies will be too by round 24, I would think we get the Sunday 3:20pm slot.
  3. His ankle looked 3 times its normal size on Friday. Maybe, just maybe, the big guy can take an early mark and rest before the whole limb falls off.
  4. I'll be there on Saturday night. I'll make sure to turn the lights off on my way out.
  5. This incident has totally changed how I feel about this game. Something died in me that night. It still eats at me what that POS did and how he got rewarded for it. I hope Gus finds his peace ❤️
  6. Nah that honour I’m reserving to junior boxing champion Jake Melksham when he decides to call it a day.
  7. Oh get [censored]
  8. If Tmac is gonna retire this season, I would like to see him go out in a blaze of glory by kicking Cox square in the nuts.
  9. It’s not just about tonight. Look at their form. They’ve only beaten North in the last 5 weeks.
  10. Who says that everything is ok? I’d like to see a quote saying that. But everything not being perfect doesn’t equate to “SACK THE COACH”. Nothing is ever as good or as bad as it seems. Especially in football.
  11. Yes which goes to show how hard this competition is. Not one side this season has shown up and delivered week in week out. They’ve lost 5 of their last 6 games, with their only win coming against North.
  12. Me watching the score line and reading that May broke his ribs again and realizing we play Port next week
  13. It’s the same ribs as before, so it may not have taken much to re-injure them. I suggest it’s season over for him.
  14. Where’s Sydney? They haven’t showed up either. In fact I think they forgot to board the plane.
  15. Imagine the melts here if Goody lost 3 GFs! He is a brilliant coach, please don’t think I don’t rate him. I really do. But if we judge a coach on flags and flags alone, he isn’t better than Goodwin. And it seems that’s what everyone wants to judge Goodwin on so… As you said, the ridiculous advantage they’ve gained from the academies tho, means that Longmire has it easier than a lot of other coaches.
  16. What makes him the best coach in the league? He’s only won 1 flag in what, 13 years? Would Sydney be this consistent in terms of finals appearances if they weren’t afforded talent for peanuts via the academies?
  17. Oh but I thought Sydney were gonna win it because we gave them JJ and Grundy for free 🙄
  18. I wonder if the Sydney fans are gonna call for Longmire to get sacked. Currently losing 45-0 to Port 😳
  19. Everyone wanted Goody sacked in 2020. Including he who shall not be named. We got some better assistants in place and Burgess and we won the flag in 2021 and have been, until this year, the most successful and best performed team of the last 3 years. And just a reminder, that we haven’t had back to back flags since the Tigers, who were absolutely enabled by the Covid era and a shortened season in 2020. And prior to that you have to go back to Geelong/Hawks era. Dynasties are incredibly rare in the modern era with the length of the season and the compromised draft.
  20. This happens every season when we don’t win a flag. Everyone wants to get rid of the coach, the players, the CEO, the president, the cleaner and the lady who makes the sandwiches.
  21. It’s a bad move because Salem is a much loved teammate and giving him away for a draft pick we probably won’t use, is going to have a net negative effect. I don’t think he can ever be best 22 again given where his body is at, but likewise I don’t think a third round pick is going to make a bigger difference to our overall list. Of course if we could get a good second rounder or he can become part of a trade for a player we need like a big bodied ruck, then I’d be very open to trading him.
  22. Ok so who do you think could come in and give us that whole new game plan and rejuvenate our list? Simpson? Should we take a risk on an untried assistant? By the way, what game plan do you think suits our strengths? Because our strengths up until this season have been contest and defense, and that game plan got us a flag and two top 4 finishes, where we all agree we got very unlucky last year to not go further. By the way, why is McRae not under fire? Pies won a flag and won’t even make finals the following year. How’s Fagan going? So many top 4 finishes and zero flags. It is always easier to think the grass is greener elsewhere. Sometimes it is, but a lot of the time it’s just a knee jerk reaction to a disappointing result. As long as Goodwin has the ear of the players and their support, and I have not seen anyone prove otherwise, everything else can be fixed. Strategy, game plan, fitness, list management etc is easier to change than finding a new coach and hoping he will have the same support that Goody currently has from our players. I will bet my bottom dollar that a large chunk of our list would be very very unhappy if Goody left. I don’t think any of them believe he is the reason that we are where we are.
  23. Thank goodness he’s a good guy who’s brother played for Collingwood
  24. Incorrect, it was pick 13 plus Freo’s first and second round picks the following year. We got pick 6 from Freo as well in the end and picked up Windsor. A big win given Jackson was out of contract and adamant to go home.
  25. You might want to look at Sydney’s list and review how many of their best players were gifted to them via academy picks for the low low price of SFA. They are not winning a flag because of JJ or Adams or even Grundy. We managed to get May, Lever and Langdon under Goody and they delivered us a flag. Let’s also not forget that we got Grundy too. It didn’t work out, but clearly Grundy was impressed enough to come to us over a host of other clubs who were interested. As for JT, given the draft picks we’ve had at our disposal since 2021, he’s done pretty damn well. JVR, McVee, Disco, Windsor, just to name a few are all best or close to best 22. Not bad considering of those only one was a top 10 pick.
