  1. Love this. Well done Kolt. I think next up is Judd McVee on a 10 to 15 year contract extension please. Thanks Tim.
  2. Big difference between getting stuck into a player based on their form, or something they did badly in a game. Totally different story to call players useless, weak, gutless, a cultural cancer etc etc We all are guilty of getting emotional about the club, myself included, and I am no saint, but some of the utter [censored] that gets written about our players not just here but everywhere online, is downright embarrassing. Just look at the post Melbourne made about Petty's re-signing. Some of the comments made about him were awful. I always try to think to myself if this player was my child, or my husband, would I be ok to read what I write about them?
  3. I meant left field in terms of I never expected him to get dropped. Certainly after our garbage performance in the midfield last week, something had to give and Sparrow has been in average form for a while now. No issues for me. More concerned that Laurie is not going to give us more. Hope I’m wrong.
  4. Sparrow out is left field but fair given our midfield was horrible last week. Not sure Laurie will do better tho. God help us with the rumours about May and Lever are true. Disco will certainly have to go back to cover May and Howes will replace Lever? Surely they’d have Tomlinson as emergency if May was in doubt.
  5. He also got stuck into Collingwood for giving up on Ginnivan too easily. And you can get your bottom dollar that if we traded Clarry and he went on to rediscover his form, he would get stuck into us for trading him. As I said before, he’s the Trump of AFL media.
  6. And these supporters will be the first ones losing it at the club if Oliver was traded and went on to rediscover his form!
  7. The only better outcome is making finals and winning one. Get that bloody finals monkey off our backs. It’s unlikely, but it’s not impossible. Plenty of mediocre teams who we could end up facing in a week one elimination. This is the least obvious season we’ve had in years in terms of who wins the flag. Swans are good but not great, especially at the MCG. And the rest are up and down like a yo-yo. We could easily go 0-5 or 5-0 from here. Nothing would shock me anymore. Of course the MOST important thing left to do in 2024 is to win round 24!
  8. I bet it would have just been 10 minutes of beeped sound 😂 Gawn is much more relaxed watching a game than I am. I would get kicked out of that coaches box in 0.3 seconds.
  9. But Kane Cornes told me we needed to trade him and a first round pick! Why won’t anyone listen to Kane when he tells us Pickett and Petty are leaving and then says we should trade Oliver? Poor Kane.
  10. I have no idea, but Tmac is also significantly older than Petty, so you'd think Petty would bounce back quicker than Tmac. He's had plenty of injury setbacks before and managed to get back. The reality is that Lisfranc is up there with the worst injury you can do in AFL. We know how tricky any foot injury can be, especially a Lisfranc and especially for a big man who needs power in their feet to launch at packs. We've seen small glimpses from Petty this year, and we know he can take a mark, that is not really in question. Like Clarry I think he needs a really good injury free pre-season. He is only 24, so he's a good 2-3 years away from his peak anyway. As I've said all along, at 'worse' he is a great replacement for May, at best he's a gun CHF. We literally cannot lose.
  11. So you mean we won't trade him and a first round pick for a packet of chips? Gees I am shocked that Cornes is yet again talking absolute garbage. He is the Donald Trump of the AFL media pack.
  12. I really rate Houston and would love him at Melbourne. He is a gun. But I gotta laugh at Port fans thinking they are more any chance of getting Pickett in a trade for him. Delusional.
  13. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Windsor will be a better player than Jackson. I know they’re very different, but Windsor has the endurance of a wingman, the speed of a goal sneak and the ability to win the contested ball of an inside mid. That is an actual unicorn!
  14. Salem’s body is cooked. Such a damn shame!
  15. Petty for mine because I never worried about Windsor going anywhere at this stage. I am thrilled to secure a key position player who is only 24 and a proven defender, a proven contested mark and a potential gun forward. And just for context, it took Tmac 2 entire seasons to find the form he’s currently in post a Lisfranc injury. Every man and his dog wanted him paid out and delisted. Now everyone hopes he stays on.
  16. Brilliant news People on social media should be ashamed of themselves with some of the comments being made about Petty. Absolutely shameful garbage that I would expect from Pies fans not Dees fans.
  17. He was never the disgruntled one. It was always the club who was unhappy with him and his behaviour.
  18. Why would you trade a top 5 player during their poorest season to date? It's like buying shares at the top price and selling when they crash. At worse Clarry never returns to the same player, and we trade him at the end of 2025 after a full pre-season. At best he returns to his previous form and we don't make fools of ourselves trading out a top 5 player after ONE mediocre season. Even if you are a cut throat fans with no attachment to players, it makes no sense to get rid of Clarry now when his value has never been lower. The chances of his playing worse next year after a good off-season, are slim to none.
  19. What are these apparent growing tensions? Because last week I saw Goody and Clarry hugging and walking arm in arm off the field post win.
  20. I think it’s hilarious that fans think Fullarton would be shocked by what Goody said. There would be dozens of far worse things said to players by coaches on a weekly basis. Goody can’t lie and say oh sorry I totally stuffed up not playing a 19 gamer part time ruckman who can’t win a hit out at Casey. He would have taken their two top quality rucks to the cleaners. And we would never have lost clearances by 9000.
  21. I don't think you know Goodwin all that well if you think he would trade him in a heartbeat. The reality is that players of Oliver's calibre come around so rarely. They also get traded so rarely, and for good reason. Trading him after one poor year for reduced value would 1000% not put us in a better position. Please tell me who you think we could get in return for Clarry that would make us better? As for not being a good influence or a media distraction; do you want to have a chat about Max Gawn all those years ago? How about Dusty? Toby Greene? Ummm remember the time Lance Franklin took a mysterious year off football? You cannot expect loyalty from players, and then turn around and throw it back in their face at the slightest hiccup. Oliver is a champion of our club. He's won 4 B&Fs, 2 coaches awards, and is a 3 time AA. And he's 26! Were you a perfect human at 26?
  22. No tampering, just a lot of pressure on a kid who let’s be honest, is no rocket scientist.
  23. It was 100% not money related. The pressure from his family to return to WA would have trumped any offer we had on the table. We didn’t lose him because of money. He was very happy at the club, and happy with the multiple options we put to him. Unfortunately he is a very immature kid and he wasn’t in the driving seat. I won’t say more than that, but trust me when I say that he didn’t leave for the money. Adelaide could have given him $2million and he wouldn’t have gone.
  24. Losing Gus was the straw that broke the camel's back after Clarry's bad off season. Then Trac almost died and the camel was like "I'm out folks".
  25. If we could find farms for these players instead, I am sure we could also get away with doing the dodgy stuff Geelong does. I mean please find me an A+ grader at another club who hasn't been offered or recently signed a long term deal? West Coast are willing to offer Reid 10 years, is that not a wild risk? The reality is, that you only have two options now to keep star players, pay them overs and risk damaging your list balance, or give them long term deals. Both options are risky, but both are necessary. You think if we didn't offer Clarry, Trac and Gus long term deals, someone else wouldn't have? Gus was being chased by Freo hard. If he left because they offered him 5 years and we only offered him 4, this place would implode. Likewise if Trac or Clarry left the year they signed those long term deals, what would we have said? We have not lost any player we wanted to keep beyond Jackson (and money was not the driving factor I assure you), and have been able to lure key players; May, Lever, Langdon, hell we got Grundy who was hot property. So these long term contracts have never stopped us from doing what we needed to do. We just recently signed Kosi, extended Roo and apparently convinced Petty to stay. List management is all about risk vs reward. Sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. It's really bloody unfortunate that after 6 concussion free years, Gus had to say goodbye to his career because Maynard is a POS!
