Players to target at the end of the year
cowboy_from_hell replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
I honestly think we are playing too well for a PP at the moment. -
Robbo just said he thinks Moloney's career is finished

It is amusing that if Beamer and Sylvia were not previously Melbourne players, I would say get them cheap at the end of the year. -
Players to target at the end of the year
cowboy_from_hell replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
If Chippa does leave and with Mitch gone we have a lot of cap room. I'd throw the world at Fyfe,Patton or Dangerfield but none will come across. Roos likes to find blokes we have hardly heard of. Mumford was a gamble that worked out pretty well for the swans. We might not go for top shelf players as everyone will throw all the cash at them but the second tier players don't have as much of a bidding war happening for them. -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 6
cowboy_from_hell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Congrats to Salem. First time in a while that I can remember a first round pick from Melbourne earning his spot. I would like to see Blease in but JKH has shown more defensive pressure then Blease ever has. -
Jack Trengove out for year with navicular fracture
cowboy_from_hell replied to Arrow's topic in Melbourne Demons
As has been posted I'm kinda happy that JT can take some time and get completely fit. It does open the door for Salem, jetta and toumpass to have a dip. Also how good is it to have some midfield depth? Last year any injury to a mid would spell disaster. This year we can at least cover JT. That Paul Roos bloke was banging on about midfield depth at the draft. He may know a thing or two about footy. -
Alex Georgiou, the new Chuck Norris?

I should've known footballers don't have a personality -
Alex Georgiou, the new Chuck Norris?

I follow him on twitter didn't realise it was a fake funny stuff though -
I was having a bit of a sook yesterday about not enough coverage of Nathan Jones's whooping of murphy. Here is at least some coverage. http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-coach-paul-roos-pays-tribute-to-cocaptain-nathan-jones-for-his-role-on-marc-murphy/story-fndv8pdq-1226881927921 http://www.news.com.au/sport/afl/melbourne-captain-nathan-jones-takes-honours-in-tagging-job-on-carlton-skipper-marc-murphy/story-fndv8pdq-1226881843367

Jake Spencer. Has he begun to turn the corner?
cowboy_from_hell replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Not sure if the talk was on here or from melbourne interviews about trusting your team mates and kicking the ball to players in a contest. It was obvious on the weekend that no matter who it was be it Watts,Dawes,Bail or Spencil they were given a chance to contest for marks. Even with Spencil's kicking woes he did get a chance to take on Warnock in the air. Ruckmen who can get possessions around the ground are worth their weight in gold. It is why Jamar was a All Australian. If Jake can clunk a few contested marks around the ground his confidence will build. He already busts his gut, throws his weight around and tackles so effort is not his problem. -
Pretty much mate. I was too young for Robbie Flower but when you hear about him on T.V and radio it always goes something like "Unbelievable player in a ordinary team". I just want reward for effort for Nathan and credit where credit is due from the [censored] media. End of Rant again.
-
Yeah they did and as they show highlights of Jones whooping murphy's ass that thug Brown and the others speak about Murphy and his leadership. It's all good I just wanted to hear about our best player in a little more depth. It's just a bad show made even worse by having a player retire in disgrace on the show. End of rant.

We must roll this win into next week

Sorry guys I probably shouldn't have posted something like that on a Sunday after a win. All our brains and livers are a little knackered. -

cowboy_from_hell replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
Next week all depends on the bald little master. This bloke never gives up,is hard as nails and his skills and leadership are top notch. If a big game comes his way the game is over. Every player should be watching this guys tape every week to look and learn. Gee I'm glad he wears red and blue. -
It was great to see AFL game day review the game saying how bad murphy was. How about you talk up Jones? He'll get the 3 votes and no one talks about him.

The advantage of having a son who doesn't sleep is I watched the replay already. In the 3rd when JKH snaps the goal he shouldn't have been so filthy on himself. The handball to Dawes was a 50/50 at best. Small forwards make things happen and he did. Nate Jones smashes Murphy and I hope but doubt Jones will get talked up by anyone in the media. Going to the footy beats listening to B grade commentators anyday.

Love a Saturday afternoon. This 440 crap on a sunday means I can't go. There are stuff all home games I can get to this year.
-
Jus got back home. I loved Viney's work today. His skills were on show. T Mac Vs Henderson was good to watch. Salute captain obvious but Nate Jones is a star. JKH was all effort and a two pronged forward line is the structure we need. We didn't always look for the perfect option. On occasion we just banged it forward which is what you need to do sometimes and it worked. Is it a two horse race between Dunn and Jones for the Bluey? Also kudos to Greg Denham who said on friday that playing Dawes was a stupid decision and would hurt us more then help. You sir are a [censored].

Interesting idea - Hire Clark as club photographer
cowboy_from_hell replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would like some high quality photo's from training sessions. I would love to see a beautiful canvas of Nicho kicking a ball out on the full, or Pedo eating, JT losing a running race to an infant, Spencer tripping over himself and Howe asleep in a full ground drill because the training cones are putting too much pressure on us to get the ball forward. -
Yay more picks. Bloody hell after 3 weeks the talk of draft picks is coming around again. We need to win a couple of games in a row to remove the idea of gaining false hope through more draft picks.
-
Obviously we can afford to pay chippa now that Mitch has retired. But Would we still want to? If 800k is the going rate could there be more possibilities without him? Why pay a bloke just because we can afford to? If we don't believe Chip is worth it the chances of landing a Fyfe or Patton will improve.

GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Still love it. I'll miss ya Mitch. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK
cowboy_from_hell replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'm in the same boat. I wish Mitch nothing but the best. This guy was a beast on the field. I would tell everyone that this bloke is Buddy Franklin except Mitch could take a mark. I thought superstardom awaited MItch. I hope he and his family can move on and be happy. I do not want to know the details of what he is/has been going through. That is his business only. But I do want to know where this leaves the club though. -
I started the 'relax we've got this thread' two seasons ago. That's when I thought we could win. Now I try not to think at all.
-
I seriously hate Hawthorn. Any team would be good when every free agent/out of contract player wants to go there and then seems to get there without a drama.
-
I'm a big fan of Chippa but he is dreaming if he thinks he is worth 800k a year. You would have to be a flawless backmen and we all know Chip is far from that. I wonder how much the reigning Norm smith Medalist is on? Some managers must bloat the ego's of their players to the extreme. See ya later Chip.
