Port are on top of the ladder with a reject from Richmond as their full forward. Cross and Vince won't be around forever and toumpass/Salem haven't yet proved they are outright midfielders. I like Cameron but I think we still need mids.

Give the kid a rest. He played and he tried. It is debateable whether or not he got the best out of himself but that is something that is his concern more then ours.

Players to target at the end of the year
cowboy_from_hell replied to JackVineyForPresident's topic in Melbourne Demons
Can't see Roos going after a expensive superstar. His swans had gun players but he picked these blokes up from the scrap heap. I think we will get more Riley and Mitchie types. Blokes we have never heard of who will turn out very well for us. -
Dwayne informs us that the crowd is silent. No crowd=No noise.

You know you are a bad team when you make Vickey and Hampson look good.
-
Love the fact the commentators have a hard on over richmonds attacking style. Yeah they tried that last week too. Who won last week?

It doesn't matter how much coin and assistance you have. When you start your young All Australian CHF down back ya gonna lose.

Selection of Paul Roos successor
cowboy_from_hell replied to All the Jacks's topic in Melbourne Demons
Whoever it is it must be a coach who will continue the Roos gameplan. Roos stated that on the MFC mid year review video. I still believe it will be Rawlings. He will have had 3 years under Roos and from all reports he works well with the players and other coaches. Rawlings will have more knowledge of the game plan and the players then any other potential coach out there. -
Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
cowboy_from_hell replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Could all this talk from essendon about taking on ASADA be a load of BS? They were banging on how they would take on the AFL when they were charged and punished. Nek minute they rolled over and copped their right whack. -
GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Could mean fit enough to walk properly. -
That whole day was a joke. You are right though his debut shouldn't account for everything but you compare Jack's god like expectations which the club didn't hose down with the expectations put on Salem/Tyson/JKH. Roos has put in place a system where a standout performance by one player is not expected. All players are required to play their role. It sounds boring but it must work on a mental level with the younger players where they know their role and do their best to perform it. Bloody hell I even sound like Roos.

Not really in Jack's case. I heard the SEN interview as well this morning with Roos and he was spot on. Roos was at the G as a opposition coach when Watts was rolled out for Queens Birthday. Roos spoke of Jack being hailed the hero/saviour of a very ordinary club in front of a packed MCG when he was in reality a skinny 18 year old Brighton school kid. No doubt Watts was feeling the pressure of being hailed a saviour before ever getting a kick. Roos spoke of Watts having a feeling that he had to be BOG every week to prove his worth. Now he just needs to play his role.

Monday morning footy ritual @ your work desk.
cowboy_from_hell replied to 13thFlagIsComing's topic in Melbourne Demons
I haven't got a work desk but after a win I watch the replay then watch every footy show possible to hear about the dees. Unfortunately our 3 wins have all been about Carlton need to rebuild, Adelaide are pathetic and the tigers are disgraceful. -
I'm waiting for it as well. It seems nearly all of the media are fixated on the worst performers and give no air to the up and comers. Once teams start to rise the praise for their efforts are ignored and instead the calls come for top 4 and flags in the next few years. In Richmonds case it hasn't happened and losing to us is the nail in the coffin.
-
Was at the game and Watts was by himself a lot and for a long time. Also I'm not sure if the players have confidence in Jack with a one on one contest. Where Dawes and Gawn had plenty of chances Watts didn't get the same service.
-
Best thing about the replay is no Brian Taylor ruining the game. Give me Sandy any day. I love the fact that when we win there is mass evacuation of a stadium.
-
Loved the game. It was as ugly as a Brian Taylor comedy gala which is exactly what we needed. Teams look awful when they play us even if they win apart from WC we make teams look bad.
-
My god Richmonds pre game announcers blow.

Just got to the G and it's my birthday. My brother organised with the club for Jesse hogan to sign a birthday card for me. The club said they were happy to help out any members. It's a pretty good club we've got here.

Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 9
cowboy_from_hell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
With Byrnes out I would guess that Salem will take his spot as the small forward for the entire game. Gawn may start as the second tall forward and rotate with the Russian. Pretty sure the Tigers are the number one clearance team so we better get the ball forward and keep it in there. Congrats to the pig dog. I hope he stays in the team for the year. A banner in the cheer squad with PIG DOG written on it would be a good site. If we can jump the tigers early the G will empty out pretty quick as it seems the tigers players and supporters are one in throwing the towel in pretty early. I hope this is the ugliest game of all time. If this happens we can win because we can't match their run and carry. -
I'd say St Louis were the biggest winners in the draft. It does say that the Rams are all in on Bradford. He has the protection and defense around him now and I hope he stays fit to prove his worth.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
cowboy_from_hell replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Didn't the new boss of the AFL say he had a plan in place if Essendon were handed notices? What type of plan could you possibly have for this situation? -
We had Howe forward in the first few rounds and he couldn't get near the footy.
-
Doggies scored when they had their chances. We controlled the whole bloody game but couldn't make it count. Looked a bit sluggish at times. Tyson is a bloody star.

Any team that picks first round QB has a 5th year option on their contract. Ponder was a first round pick and we didn't pick up that 5th year with him. This is his last year in purple and I think freeman is a giant now.He is 3rd string right now I'd say cassell is the starter we re-signed him and teddy will be the back up. No RB's in the first round is the norm now. But it makes them a steal in the later rounds. Defense was the need for most teams and it seemed everyone apart from the jags (bortles at #3) we're gun shy to take a QB early. It was a game to see how long teams could hold out on taking the QB they wanted. Cleveland won by taking a safety at 8 and then striking gold with Johnny in the 20's. Ha ha is an interesting name but he can play. He can blitz from the backfield very well.
