  1. Your question piqued my interest, so I googled and up pops a 2017 demonland thread, haha! According to that
  2. AFLW-listed players who played in Casey's 89-point win over the Southern Saints in the VFLW: Brown - 13 disposals, 2 marks Campbell - 1 goal, 7 disposals, 5 hit-outs Caris - 10 disposals, 25 hit-outs Gay - 17 disposals, 9 inside-50s Gillard - 15 disposals, 4 tackles Lampard - 1 goal, 15 disposals Magee - 15 disposals, 3 tackles Parry - 4 goals, 18 disposals, 7 marks Petrevski - 1 goal, 16 disposals, 6 inside-50s Tarrant - 20 disposals, 6 marks West - 19 disposals, 6 clearances, 6 tackles
  3. ROUND 6 Apparently there was a stream of the game but not one that I could find - maybe it was live only. So, relying on the stats alone: CASEY DEMONS 2.4.16 6.8.44 8.10.58 14.13.97 SOUTHERN SAINTS 0.0.0 1.2.8 1.2.8 1.2.8 Casey goalkickers: Parry 4 Hogg McCrossan 2 Campbell Fellows Kirkwood Lampard O'Connor Petrevski Casey disposal leaders: Fellows 20 Tarrant 20 West 19 Parry 18 Gay 17 VFLW stand-outs: Fellows - 20 disposals, 1 goal McCrossan - 15 disposals, 2 goals Grant - 14 disposals, 4 marks Hogg - 11 disposals, 2 goals, 4 clearances Fairchild - 12 disposals, 8 tackles AFLW-listed players: Brown - 13 disposals, 2 marks Campbell - 1 goal, 7 disposals, 5 hit-outs Caris - 10 disposals, 25 hit-outs Gay - 17 disposals, 9 inside-50s Gillard - 15 disposals, 4 tackles Lampard - 1 goal, 15 disposals Magee - 15 disposals, 3 tackles Parry - 4 goals, 18 disposals, 7 marks Petrevski - 1 goal, 16 disposals, 6 inside-50s Tarrant - 20 disposals, 6 marks West - 19 disposals, 6 clearances, 6 tackles Casey now sit two points clear atop the ladder, undefeated.
  4. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1084994 "Captain Daisy Pearce and key forward Tayla Harris will be among only few to have played at the venue, being part of two Exhibition Series matches at the MCG (2013 and 2015)."
  5. It's the stuff dreams are made of!
  6. The team that can roll with things was always going to come out on top this year - that's been Daisy's mantra from the get-go. On the podcast they talked about a big session planned for this weekend. With no VFLW maybe there were some more players around to make more of that? Hopefully. An undisclosed number of Pies players are close contacts only, so due to come out of the iso on Wednesday apparently. If that brings them up to the required numbers, presumably they'll play next weekend and everything get pushed a week. If they haven't got enough to do that (too many actually have Covid), then I think at that point fairness to the other three teams comes into it, though it's a very tough position to be in.
  7. Apparently the announcement will be Monday.
  8. 5 Hanks - Sorry for never mentioning you enough in match reports! 4 Bannan - Stepped up 3 D Pearce - Crucial goals 2 Mithen - In everything 1 Paxman - Some important moments Would have liked to sneak in Heath, Lampard and Colvin.
  9. Bannan next season for sure! A lot of players who are pivotal to their teams in this list, especially midfielders in the expansion clubs, which says everything about the competition's direction.
  10. Agree but surely they'd have dropped her already if they were ever going to. Maybe her last season - shouldn't play into it, but maybe it does. Gillard or (it pains me to say) Fitzsimon, depending on opposition.
  11. Gave up on their decisions making any sense years ago! Announcing an August start in March of the same year is another head scratcher - good in the long-run, yes, but a bit more notice would have greatly improved preparations. Some players simply won't be able to play due to this short notice, the quality will suffer, and that's not even considering the four new teams entering... Also a shame for some of the Irish players who may have played their last games without knowing it.
  12. ROUND 5 No time to report in detail! CASEY DEMONS 1.5.11 2.7.19 4.10.34 5.15.45 GEELONG CATS 3.1.19 4.2.26 5.4.34 5.4.34 GOALS A.Dowler 2 T.Fellows C.McCrossan J.Parry DISPOSALS L.Magee 25 L.Parry 23 A.Brown K.Petrevski 20 If we're talking prospects to keep an eye on, I'm liking the contribution of Fellows over a few games now. And good to have some more top of the ladder action this week!
  13. Nothing like a reality check before finals, but I could have done without QUITE such a bad performance! Several players put in season-worst games. Many played as though they expected a repeat of last week, which is wild considering the stark difference in setting and opposition. It doesn't exactly fill you with confidence for what's ahead, but here's hoping we can regain some form and understand why Carlton's approach was so effective in curtailing us. It doesn't take a rocket scientist, so you'd think we'd be onto it, it's just a matter of having the legs, mental freshness and persistence to apply what we need to do. I only saw one end of the game due to my seating position (trying and failing to gain some wind protection), but based on that it felt like the one who had the most zeal was Heath. She's sky-high on confidence right now. P.S. According to Zanker's interview with the ground announcer pre-match, she'll be right to go for finals.
  14. No blatant stand-out like West was, probably several players who are contenders though and some more time against the harder VFLW teams will tell more. I feel like, from the outside looking in, there's good cohesion between both levels as well, so our ability to draw from VFLW to fill gaps during the expansion phase is in a good place - compared to some other clubs where the link is less established.
  15. I flip-flopped on this about 15 times writing the match report, and have changed my mind again... 5 D Pearce 4 Hanks 3 Mithen 2 Paxman 1 Bannan Apologies to all but especially West, Hore, Harris and L.Pearce.
  16. Fan fave Goldrick has a Mark of the Year nomination this week! Vote here: https://www.womens.afl/markoftheyear
  17. ROUND 4 Checked out how our VFLW team fared, and, well: CASEY 2.1.13 6.4.40 10.5.65 15.7.97 WESTERN BULLDOGS 1.0.6 1.0.6 1.0.6 1.0.6 Now, to be fair, the Western Bulldogs are struggling, but still. It's not every day you kick a combined 204 points across the VFLW/AFLW programs! There was some really classy goalkicking from all angles by Casey. Casey goalkickers: Fellows 3 Dowler 2 Reiter 2 Borchard Harasimiuk Hogg Johnson Kirkwood McCrossan O'Connor Petrevski VFLW stand-outs: Hogg - 1 goal, 20 disposals, 4 clearances Dowler - 2 goals, 19 disposals Fellows - 3 goals, 19 disposals, 6 marks, 6 tackles Johnson - 1 goal, 17 disposals, 5 tackles AFLW-listed players: Tarrant - 32 disposals, 11 clearances 5 tackles. She played in the midfield - I think I've seen her do about every role possible now. I'd be surprised if she's playing Casey VFLW next season. It'll be Melbourne AFLW or another AFLW club. Magee - 21 disposals, 5 tackles, 4 clearances. Just as I was thinking I'd love to see how she'd look in a different role, she was moved to the midfield. Yes, the opposition wasn't much chop, but I saw some other attributes to her game we haven't seen at AFLW level yet. Obviously, she won't play midfield there, but hopefully the experience will help grow her game. Brown - 20 disposals, 3 marks. In full control across the backline. Petrevski - 1 goal, 18 disposals, 6 tackles, 4 clearances. Another one who, if she wants AFLW game time, has a good chance to find it next season, somewhere. She plays some really smart footy at times.
  18. Votes thread now posted on the AFLW board. Good luck choosing!
  19. P.S. Anyone got some money lying around for a couple of grandstands at Casey?
  20. Well, sometimes when things click, they really click. 105 points in AFLW is about equivalent to 160 points in the traditional game length. The fact that we left at least 5 goals on the park makes it all the more incredible. Complete domination, with a definite asterisk on it, but you can only play the team in front of you. Next week we could be just as diminished. Loved Colvin's game early when it was there to be won.
  21. If we lose, Parry was clearly the glue holding it all together, we just couldn't see it.
