  1. We can console ourselves with the thought that the soft cap is the reason why we - the acknowledged experts about everything to do with the MFC - are not working at the club. What other reason could there be?
  2. Find the lid and try to put it back on.
  3. Idiots? But I'm sure each poster is an expert. At least, that's the impression I'm sure they want to leave me with.
  4. Not only have our tipsters been close to the mark, but also more courageous than the media tipsters who mostly choose conservative margins, ie, fewer than 20 point margins for most games.
  5. Given their position on the ladder, surprising that Sydney doesn't have a player in the top 20.
  6. I've never been to an NRL game. What sort of "crowd activation/entertainment" do they have there?
  7. Unlikely. Perhaps not as individuals, but there is some merit in the argument that as a group we are more often likely to be right than wrong.
  8. I have often seen the media reporting how many kms a specific player runs in a game. Is that data publicly available anywhere? It would be interesting to look at and compare various players, such as Tom McDonald, ANB, Melksham, Langdon and others.
  9. I think you're confused. It's Christian Bale who plays Batman, not Christian Petracca.
  10. I'm sure that's true. But is there any corporate advertising revenue for the AFL or Ground Manager from the music played in the quarter-time/half-time breaks?
  11. If only Clarkson was our coach. He'd have a coffee with Gil this week and the AFL would make an immediate rule change to increase the squad to 24 and allow 19 players on the ground at all times.
  12. If one of Weideman and B Brown comes in, then M Brown goes out. If both Weideman and B Brown come in, does McDonald go to the wing? If so, what happens to Brayshaw? I assume he takes the spot of one of Sparrow or Jordon. On the basis of yesterday's game, I think Jordon did enough to remain unless he needs a rest. So, my best guess is Weideman, B Brown in for M Brown and Sparrow with Jordon as sub. If May is ready, he'll come in for Petty. And if Fritsch is ready...he'll be given another week off and take Jones' spot the following week.
  13. I like your six players chosen. Minor quibble with the order, though.
  14. I didn't notice the music at the ground yesterday. But I did notice the screeching hawk after each Hawthorn goal. Rather than complain about it, though, my thought was more towards whether we're maximizing our own revenue possibilities. Could we sell the rights to a post-goal sound effect? And what would that sound be? I also noticed the annoying KFC "I don't care, I love it" being played over and over and can assure KFC that I do care, I didn't love it and that sort of promotion puts me off the sponsor's product.
  15. Que? Simon Godfery was an excellent accumulator but a dreadful distributor. Spargo doesn't accumulate much, but distributes very well. Is that what you mean?
  16. 6. Gawn 5. Lever 4. Salem 3. McDonald 2. Oliver 1. Langdon
  17. Why wasn't that "play on" and therefore disallowed? Are they playing the "old" (pre-2021) man on the mark rule in the VFL?
  18. Not sure he's got the fitness to last out the game Depends. Are we getting the peanuts or giving them away? As to the topic, I was outvoted by the match committee. I thought Melksham playing Fritsch's role was a closer like for like change than bringing in M Brown.
  19. Talking of lookalikes, Charlie Dixon's body art looks roughly similar to the Port Adelaide jumper worn that day
  20. Agree...except you probably think I'm one of those people to which I vehemently disagree!?
  21. If you think Melksham was our worst player last week, you've got a mighty prejudice against him which is seriously clouding your judgement. (I'm trying to be polite with my criticism.)
  22. I partially disagree. More marks are often taken on any day by non-tall key fowards. The tall forwards might take more contested marks and have a role in bringing the ball to ground, but smaller players, such as Oliver, Petracca and Harmes often take more marks than the key forwards. And it's not just the case with our team (with its dysfunctional forward line, at least before this year). To me Fritsch is not and never will be a tall key forward. That doesn't mean he doesn't have a role. He does and he plays it well. I think Melksham is better suited to that role than Mitch Brown. And, I note with some irony given he's being compared in this discussion with Melksham, that if you were to ask an Essendon supporter why Essendon let Mitch Brown go, I think you'll find most of them would say it was because he didn't impose any defensive pressure.
  23. I'd like to say that Picket's opening post is as informative as all his other training reports. While I like saying it, though, it isn't true. Come back Picket. With Saty's scooter not authorised to venture out of inner Melbourne, we need you and your colourful training reports.
  24. I think the best lookalike for Jayden Hunt is Ed Langdon. Especially when they're both wearing long sleeves and on the far side of the ground.
