CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
I was hoping we were just trying some things and bringing underdone players in that game, alas it looks like weāve fallen off the cliff. The shocking thing is there is a spot right there for a Tomlinson or an Adams and theyāve both been so poor. Disappointing.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
This might be the worst Casey performance for a long time. Losing Smith and Brayshaw from the list, plus the injuries to Turner, Sestan and Melksham have spread us too thin.

CASEY: Rd 01 vs Box Hill
Bailey Laurie is NOT a mid. That clearance was the prime example, fumbles the ball to Hawthorns 50, misses a tackle clearance Hawthorn. He has some crafty things for a HF or small forward but heās not a mid, this needs to end.

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Hawthorn
BBB has done us a huge favour. Iād imagine the FD were hoping he would be a stop gap for us and help us eke out a win before we could bring Petty back. Instead he was so outstanding he gives Harrison another week to gain form and fitness in the VFL. Brownās marking and competing in the air were brilliant as always but his work on the ground was the best itās been since 2021. If he can play 10-15 games like that this year look out! Windsor, TMac and Billings were also a revelation. Unless someone is sore and needs a rest no change this week. Hopefully Harrison can dominate at VFL level and demand his spot as I think Petty-JVR is our best tall forward mix and Brown will need done managing. Still buzzing from that win and very much hoping we can smash those Hawks!

Harrison Petty
I think we need to be careful with whatās in the media on this as as we saw with Kozzie, Oliver, Petty and numerous others Cornes, the old Rendell gang (RIP), Barrett etc have much more positive relations with Port and Adelaide than they do with our club. Especially after a number of those people went our club and particularly our coach, so hard in the off-season, to the point apologies were required. The Kozzie trade talk was all engineered by Port, attempting to give them an advantage, also the Oliver to Adelaide story and most of what we are hearing with regards to Petty is coming from Adelaide as well. Our club isnāt perfect but it would appear we donāt leak unintentionally (Oliver was clearly intentional and made Adelaide and their media look very silly!). The Petty situation is unique. Conventional wisdom would say if heās thinking of going after the contract is over, conventionally we would trade him at the end of this year so we get something for him. However, he may be worth more to us for two years where he puts us in premiership contention and allows our young KPFs to develop than the extra picks we may get at this years end. And ultimately heās contracted and itās our call. All the other noise is Adelaide types trying to get him earlier, buyer beware.

Bump. Remember when we should trade Petty immediately as heād already peaked and was close to needing his leg amputated? I generally stay quiet and just read this forum as I very rarely have information or am able to attend training (thanks to all training reporters and six6six for his excellent photos they are a lifesaver at this time of year!) .But I now understand why those who do have good information often leave and no longer post here. My statement on Petty was accurate and the info came from a good source but because it ran contra to the AFL media narrative and because people were upset at the time I was jumped on. Until the culture on here changes and people can share info that runs contrary to what is out in the public without being jumped on this wonderful forum wonāt be able to live to its full potential as many will stay silent when they could share. Petty is actually ahead of the time frame I provided, but heās a long way from not playing this season. Obviously thereās a long way to go and chance will play a part but so far, so good.

Dees win $1million McClelland Trophy
Could one surmise from that that maybe the club didnāt adequately address those issues? 3 leaders and their best players still walk after the club was told to clean up its actā¦. Collingwood has a history of wanting to look like itās dealing with serious prejudice without actually dealing with it⦠Do Better cough cough

Dees win $1million McClelland Trophy
Itās appalling isnāt it. Almost everything CFC on that list is a serious crime, the club cleans up for them. Thereās a patterns there of seriously disgusting attitudes and behaviour to women also.

Dees win $1million McClelland Trophy
DEE fence is bang on, the silence is deafening. MFC wins the trophy and 1mil for being the most consistent club across AFL and AFLW and radio silence from AFL.com. Instead an article about how important top ten picks are (duh!). MFC has been the benchmark across all three competitions AFL, AFLW, VFL for three years now. Weāve won 3 premierships (and counting with AFLW23 still to play) 4 GFs, finished in the top 4 8 times, made 9 final series and easily been the best club over this period. But what are they reporting on? A smear campaign against our coach and his family from 2020-21. What are our real issues?Joel Smith is an [censored] who did coke in season. Clayton Oliver is immature and has some issues, Stephen May is confident and has a big mouth, leading to one stupid fight with his teammates and a statement about CFC that annoyed them (despite being true!). Thatās it. Compare that to CFC: Magpies deny players involvement in elicit video (off-season 2023): https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/collingwood-magpies/magpies-deny-players-involved-in-explicit-viral-video-and-warn-fans-of-criminal-offence/news-story/1527df5feed42453ba45d130f819cb56 Ginnivan at the races pre GF: https://www.theroar.com.au/2023/09/30/magpies-defend-ginnivan-over-trip-to-the-races-before-grand-final-everyone-just-relax-and-chill/amp/ Jack Crisps alleged sexting exchange with an underage girl 2023: https://7news.com.au/sport/afl/jack-crisps-next-move-revealed-after-afl-completes-investigation-into-inappropriate-video-c-10314050.amp Jack Ginnivan allegedly does ketamine with players preaseason 2023: https://amp.abc.net.au/article/101994502 Jordan Degoeyās litany of mysognistic misdemeanours: https://amp.9news.com.au/article/384aa7b0-45be-4488-8f9c-d9c1f2e1191f Quaynor and Ginnivan rate womenās appearance in online video: https://www.foxsports.com.au/web-stories/free/fox-sports/jack-ginnivan-and-isaac-quaynor-apologise-for-tiktok-video Steele Sidebottom goes out drunk during COVID restrictions: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8477947/amp/AFL-star-Steele-Sidebottom-drunk-does-not-remember-breaking-COVID-19-rules.html The ādo better reportā: https://amp.theguardian.com/sport/2021/feb/01/collingwood-afl-clubs-culture-of-structural-racism-condemned-in-scathing-report Wow what an incredible ācultureā led to this years flag, itās almost like winning premierships is possible even with a team of misbehaving DHās as long as they are good at football. But no, itās probably Darcy Mooreās ability to deliver a year 10 level debate speech and Craig MacRae and the Daicosās being nice guys, Iām sure thatās an impeccable āculchaā. Itās nice to confirm the bias against us in the AFL media, which was largely under the surface until now. They hate us and will never praise us as a ābig clubā (within 10k and 16k of Hawthorn and Essendon with a higher average home attendance but never acknowledge that). Time for us to start calling them out often and loudly, or stop listening to and watching their rubbish as Robbo, Warner at the Hun are out for us as are Damo, Cornes and others at AFL.com. Stuff em.

Welcome to Demonland: Jack Billings
For me heās better suited to the role we were having Jordon play in 2022. And might give Hunter or Langdon a scare if they donāt pull their fingers out. Heās quick, a good runner, good field kick (has shocking goal kicking yips though) and hasnāt ever really had a chance to put his best out there consistently. This is some of the midfield depth we lost with Jordon and Harmes, not inside depth, but depth that complements our inside mid strength (Oliver, Viney, Trac, Sparrow). Shrewd and cheap.

Trade Rumours 2023
If we can go into the draft with pick 6, 11, McAdam, Fullarton, Billings and a backup ruck like Lycett weāll have done incredibly well. Billings as wing depth, two potential ruck options should Gawny get sore or need a rest and some x-factor for the forwardline. That ticks all our boxes. Not to mention some potential gun mids or a move for one exceptional talent. Go Dees!

Welcome to Demonland: Shane McAdam
A question about McAdam is if he comes how do we clear list spots to use our draft picks? We currently have two senior list spots and two A Rookie spots (according to the excellent work of the list thread). If we bring in McAdam we only have one senior list spot left. And thatās if we move Melksham to the rookie list to fill one of the two A rookie spots (if thatās even allowed?). Assuming we are taking at least one, maybe two or three draft picks who are we dropping from the list?

2023 List and Contract Details
Can Melksham be offered a rookie contract similar to what we did with Mitch Brown a few years ago or have the rules changed?

Harrison Petty
Absolutely, Iām sorry if Iāve mixed up your comments with others also. Ironic that I be so petty in the Petty thread huh? All good.

Harrison Petty
That says neither that he will play round one, nor that he is fine, nor that he is 100%. You have to admit that. You made all three of those things up and if thatās your only quote you have proven my point. I have heard his program is tailored to have him playing early next year. I believe in our program, Harry and choose to be optimistic. I may be wrong, Iām not Nostradamus, but I certainly donāt think the tone that was pervading in this thread at the time of, we should trade him as his value will never be higher is as likely as what I have posted. Take it or leave it.

Harrison Petty
Sorry, I was getting a bit overly combative in this thread. The āPetty will never be at higher valueā with the implication ātwo serious foot injuriesā would mean he never play well enough to warrant higher draft picks in the next two year discussion triggered me. I think he will be far higher value as a two time premiership full forward who kicks 50 goals two seasons in a row. I also agree our club is very good at being leak proof and doing a sterling job on that front. Sometimes I think we do too good a job as I think two months into Harryās recovery probably warrants an update. Hence why I posted what Iāve heard, I rarely do. I could of course be wrong, not because of bad info but because the world is cruel. As Webber says even if the Lisfranc heals quickly and permanently there is a chance of other injuries being caused by a range of factors in the recovery process. Iām choosing to bet on what Iāve heard, our program and Harry, I could be wrong, chance is cruel. After all our AFLW team lost a pivotal game due to Paxy having a concussion incident with her dog! Anything can happen. But the narrative that Petty should be traded now because heās not going to improve his value, or too injured, is just pure negativity and triggered me. Sorry.

Harrison Petty
No one said he was 100% fine. Quote that comment. Setbacks happen, no one can predict the future, you have no idea who I am or what I do and certainly wonāt be saying given the vitriol on here. Ive heard thereās a chance heās back in the early part of the season, thatās still a 6/7 month recovery. Take it or leave it. Berate me in March If i turn out to be wrong. But donāt make stuff up.
-
Harrison Petty
I had heard that Harrisonās injury was serious. But that he would be doing light running after Xmas. Low impact training throughout Jan/Feb with an eye to joining full training in late Feb/March and playing in the early part of the season if thereās no major setbacks. He had surgery in August, thatās 6-7 months out, thatās very serious, more serious than Frittas 8-10 weeks. I know you know people from inside the club so Iād suggest you ask Fritta when he thinks Harry will be back next time. See if Iām full of it.
-
Harrison Petty
So youāre saying trade him now because heās crippled and wonāt play good footy again? Youāre assuming Burgess and Adelaide are stupid and havenāt done their due diligence? Heāll play early next year. Bet on it.

Harrison Petty
Petty will have a higher trade value in SA next year. Both SA clubs will be in a position to trade for him, PA will have the picks from Butters leaving at a minimum, the Crows, despite the hype will still have decent draft picks. No Doodee, No Petty, very few good backs, a decent but not outstanding midfield, Walker a year older, theyāre finishing 7-12. The revisionism here is incredible, Petty had an injury interrupted year THIS year, heās 23, heās not getting worse in future. He missed 5 games with a foot THIS YEAR in the middle of the season, came back and then missed the final 6 games again. His form was patchy, he played back, then forward, then back again and then finally forward where he struck form, for two and a half games. After a full preseason in one position, next to an older, stronger JVR, Petty will rip it up next year. He wonāt miss āall of preseasonā heāll be back doing light running when we return and doing modified training after Xmas, fitness wise heāll have a great chance to build a good base. The āPettyās value will never be higherā argument is coming from Adelaide, itās the only reason MFC would CONSIDER moving him on. Itās malarkey.

Welcome to Demonland: Shane McAdam
I think Petty may well be ready for round one but if he isnāt I think it will be: One of Brown, Fullarton or Schache (back up Ruck), JVR, Smith, Fritsch, Chandler, ANB, and one of Laurie, Woey or Spargo (I forgot Kozzie is suspended, or blanked it from my memory) Who are you replacing? Do you really want to only have JVR as backup ruck and no true tall forward when heās rucking? Clearly weāre drafting McAdam to play, I donāt have a problem with us getting him, but heās replacing someone in the forwardline Iāve just listed and the only options I see are Smith or Fritsch. I donāt think we will go small. I donāt know enough about him to know but is he an upgrade on those two? Thatās my confusion.

Welcome to Demonland: Shane McAdam
So you are suggesting that our round one forwardline will be: JVR (backup ruck duties also), Fritsch, McAdam, Smith, Kozzie, Chandler, ANB. Thatās dynamic for sure, but our field kicking will need to improve markedly because only one maybe two of those players has a remote chance of taking a big contested mark.
