  1. I say the MFC needs to hire a geneticist and match maker for our 100+ game players, as part of our development plans. Moloney's looking for a partner to sire his little demon player. If we start now we'll be ahead of the Pies (I hope) and can start planning for the inevitable run of flags from 2032+ yeee haar "Billy the Kid" love it.
  2. When is the last time a MFC player kicked 11 in the reserves? To ask the same question another way, would Fev add to our team assuming a proper pre-season and a professional approach from him? Could Fev help us win games of over the next 2 years? See above re his "current state", and can't we have a good present and a good future? I think the yanks call it "chewing gum while you walk". Who would we be happy to lose to have Fev in the team? How much do we hold a persons past against them? Can a person Change? How fun would it be for Fev to help us beat Carlton? Wouldn't Fev be a recruit?

  4. While footy clubs are in the business of winning flags, they are also in the business of entertaining and providing wins for their fans. If Fev can help win games, not retard our young teams development, not cost much, not push a potential star of the list, and only for a year while Lucas Cooks and Fitzy grow, then maybe it's time the MFC switched to vaudeville for 2012. I know I'll be entertained watching Fev roll out in the Red & Blue in 2012... The "watch the team grow and develop over 50 games and then..." variety of entertainment the MFC has been dishing out over the last few years has to continue, it can be wearisome viewing when it's all us fans are being served for 3+ years now... with more to come.
  5. Given the MFC FD has had a year to check out Fev, if they went with him to fill the FF hole for a couple of years, I'd be happy that they have done the due dilligence required and know how to continue the dev of Cook and Fitzy with him in the team...
  6. Good result for Maric, needs to show the level against the Hawks this week to solidify his possie and build his reputation...
  7. Welcome Back Aussie Wonaeamirri Set to Return
  8. If Mick wants to coach again next year, he should go to the Tigers... give himself a real challenge at his beloved former club.
  9. Using GC, Carlton and MFC as guides Tom would be looking at 2012 - GWS @ 18th place, MFC @ 8th Place (finals) 2013 - GWS @ 14th Place, MFC @ 6th place (finals) 2014 - GWS @ 10th place, MFC @ 4th place (finals) 2015 - GWS @ 8th place, MFC @ 2nd place (GF appearance) 2016 - GWS @ 6th place - MFC @ 1st Place (GF appearance) What is the extra value in $$ of playing in finals? Is it additional to the cap payments if the MFC wins a grand final? From the above you could argue that Tom would be playing an additional 10 finals games over the next 5 years at the MFC... how much is that worth?
  10. Once in a life time opportunity to be a key player in a premiership team (or not). Given the money is absurdly high from both MFC and GWS, surely the prospects of the two teams to play in and win finals and a Grand final would be THE key question Tom would be asking himself..?
  11. I'd agree with your description. I find there is a bit of TJ (Travis) about his high risk/reward decisions on where he kicks it as well (i.e. 50m kicks into the corridor). I assume playing him in the midfield at Casey is an attempt to increase his workrate and evolve his decision making. He also hits me as a confidence player who can drops his head and stop working hard (defensively) when the tide is against him... Not sure how you remedy this...
  12. Maric is pressing for a spot (again) with his BOG at Casey. He seems prone to drifting out of play or losing confidence at AFL level, yet he can also have an impact. From his low profile on Demonland I assume most have written him off... So I'm asking the question, what area of his game does Maric need to improve for him to cement a place in the 22 and become a quality AFL player?
  13. That's 10-12 MFC players difference in one year, with Cameron Bruce, James McDonald, Daniel Hughes and Paul Johnson no longer at the club and Matthew Warnock, Clint Bartram, Lynden Dunn, Aaron Davey, Jack Grimes, Neville Jetta, Joel Macdonald, Michael Newton out of favour or likely to be out injured...
  14. For Tom to get to Richmond would require the Tigers trade for GWS No#1 pick (if they are allowed) and Tom nominated to go into the Draft. Tom would then be the No#1 draft pick x 2 which would be funny, and the tigers would be minus Martin or Cotchin or Riewoldt and looking like a pack of idiots... Tom will stay and play for the Demons.
  15. I think Casey have a bye, Liam the sub for mine ...
  16. Have to suspect Liam will be the sub given this quote on last week by Mark Williams "He fumbled and bumbled his way through the game,... ". Could be the rocket he needs?
  17. I think we'd have to be finishing top 4 before we'd trade good draft picks to pick up highly specific players, to give us an immediate lift into serious flag contension. Like Pies with Jolly/Ball, Dogs with Hall, etc... which by my optimistic guess would be at the end of 2013...
  18. How about we start a fund that pays a bonus to one club MFC players who win us a premiership. Out side of their footy time (and the salary cap) but a nice earner when they retire??? Members are asked to donate $500 for each flag we win, money banked till premiership players retire... boom That would be 18 mill if we snagged one this year...
  19. What I'm enjoying about Jack, aside from his improved form is the [censored] eating grin he wears when we are winning. Classic as he walked the boundary in the last against Freo, big smile on his dial.
  20. I'd rather the MFC lose Scully than pay him more than we could then offer Trengove, Watts etc... down the track. The MFC is building a premiership list, and we are going to need our stars to moderate their wage claims to keep our talented group together to get those flags. GWS are using their extra salary to lure players and gain attention in the Syd market, their initial goal is not a flag list. Hence the decision for Tom has to be 1. Stay at Melb on perhaps 450k p.a. (same as what other MFC "stars" in their 3rd year can earn) and push for a flag in the next 3 years 2. Go to GWS for 800k p.a. and essential start back where MFC were 3 years ago... Simple really, if Tom's priority is playing footy for football glory he'll stay, if his priority is earning the most he can for his talents he goes. Nothing wrong with either choice. Except I want him to stay (and we can win a flag if we pay him too much).
  21. If he's playing this well while uncommitted, imagine how he'd go if his heart beat true...
  22. It's like a scab I have to pick. So hard not to.
  23. If this is true, you'd suggest playing a person who has lied to and walked out on the club and his team mates so the AFL will give us a No# 18 pick instead of a No# 21 pick? If gone, move on.
