Caroline Wilson - Where has she gone?
PaulRB replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
I love that the media folk are also supporters, makes them human and more interesting. much as Gary Lyon can annoy me, I love it when he’s talking passionately about what’s working for Melbourne and is genuinely excited. footy media are fans and fanatics first and while they try to be level headed and objective, they are fans... -
On that logic (and I don’t disagree), it was Mark Neeld that is the root cause of our current high..!? ?
-
Demonology anonymous... and who were you???
-
I agree, but I’d still like the club to table what appears to be a reportable incident behind play, that there is vision of, for the MRC and AFL to consider. oppositions have targeted Max and Fritta recently in this manner and its bs.
-
I’d like us to add to our defence, that Having just been decked behind play (by Bonar - show vision) without the protection of the umpires, Bailey concluded he was a) going to be hurt by the North players intent not to simply tackle but to hurt/injure, and b) needed to fend off the player before another attempt was made and him being injured further. I recognise it is a poor argument, but Bailey was well within his rights to believe North were out to target and hurt him, and do his best to protect himself.

Our Robbo's Blunt Warning to Current Crop

For Dees fans we’re waiting for the other shoe to drop. ? -

Not disagreeing, but how did the same criteria not result in Hawkins getting a week?

When does the MRC spin their wheel?

... and don’t call me Shirley!

Petty would be my preference, simply because he’s trained all preseason with the defensive unit, and deserves a crack. TMac has been good forward and ok pitch hitting down back, I’d leave him further up the ground.

Bag of [censored] Geelong... Love the Swannies

Great team, and a tough decision to drop Nathan. Much as I was keen for Jones to be celebrated last week, swapping him out for Brown and keeping good delivery in Melksham makes us a much better team. Nathans future is in the hands of the footy gods now, and he’ll always get my appreciation and respect. Ruthless decision and a sure way to ensure no complacency creeps into our boys work tomorrow. Go demons.

If Lever and May went down, you would have Petty replace Lever and have Tomlinson roll into Mays role, Hibbard play last line ( in Tomlinson’s spot) and bring in Jetta as well as Petty... ... before you’d have TMac go to the backline again. Take him too long to relearn their system.
-
Both Lever and Rance are/were beneficiaries of good defensive structures that make their success almost inevitable. The number of times the opposition pop it up for Lever to easily intercept would be embarrassing for them, if it wasn’t a deliberate result of us executing our game plan. Both great players, but Rance was a prat... so Lever by a mile.

Jonathan Brown to take Sam Weideman under his wing
PaulRB replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
What star sign is Sam..? ? -
Here we go, here we go, here we go... Here we go, here we go, here we go... Go Demons.. ???

I loved Maxy’s slap-punch on Nankirvis as they argued, and then his Cale Morton like running away from him... Made me laugh.

Watching VFL and Weid and Brown made me think of another good aspect of our team selection to take on the Tigers tonight, by not playing our key forwards we are not giving the Tigers a look at our likely line up should we meet in September (assuming we go that far). Where as, we’re getting another look at this Richmond team.
-
A fascinating sub-plot tonight for me is how Pickett, Jackson and Rivers perform on the big stage in a big occassion game against the best opposition... Go boys, reputations are built on nights like tonight.
-
Salem’s poise, strength and ability to dispose cleanly and to good options under intense pressure make him an ideal player for finals footy. Reckon he will thrive should we get to September. his leadership off the back flank has reminded me of Hodge’s leadership at Brisbane recently.

Truly cant tell if we're ready to duke it out with the Tigers, as thus far this season we've rarely been challenged for any sustained period. So Saturday, assuming the Tiggers bring their A-game, will be our first genuine test for a full four quarters this season. Fascinated to see how the individuals, team, structures, connections, communication and morale hold up. As others have said, will reveal a lot about where we are at. Go Demons

I find it bizarre that some supporters would question us celebrating Jones on Saturday with comments about his form etc... YET at the same time are wanting our guns to sign on to being one club players. Clubs that treat their senior players with respect build culture, trust and bonds that younger players want to be part of. If the boys can beat the Tigers on Jones’s 300th we’d have stepped up to genuine contenders while honouring one of our best. Win or lose on Saturday, by honouring Nate we make our club stronger, and our elder players more “sacred”, a very good thing. Well done and thank you Nathan, and Go Demons!!!

Fair enough Old Dee. My Dad died late last year, so this is my first season without him, and it has taken on a melancholy tone as a result. But I must say, I did feel perked up after a couple of beautiful goals by the boys on the weekend, accompanied by the roar of the crowd, and Dad would have approved and felt likewise. I hope when covid is sorted, and you feel safe, you can return to the G, so one day we can enjoy us lifting that elusive cup..
