  1. Any supporter of the MFC expects and hopes the recruits become the best version of themselves, if that version is a champion like Clayton Oliver then that is even better but some individuals become complacent when they get drafted and end up on the scrap heap.

I hope JVR becomes a champion because that will help us win premierships in the future but he has to want it and put in the work along with the development coaches helping him achieve this goal.

Jeesus.. go and have a look at Schwarz's highlights reel before he was Ox...if he's that good then they should sack the whole FD right ..NOW for not playing him already.

It must be the silly season?

Of course you may be correct, which will be exciting...

Better than that Ruski ballet dancer guy?

I actually saw David Schwarz play in the Melbourne U19 along with David Neitz, they played at 15 so they were tied to the MFC for ever because there were changes coming with players no lomger being tied to the club via zones.

  3. I want to know why a player who won the Morrish Medal in Taj Campbell-Farrell has not been mentioned by any of the watchers which I am not one.

The last Morrish Medal winner we picked was Clayton who was not considered until draft night at 4, maybe having 2 Taj's is one too many?

Anyone seen him in the flesh because some of his statistics are very impressive but the injury may have dampened his chance of been a top 20 pick?

  4. I don't wish Luke any ill but his attitude in the last 12 months was appalling he must have known at the end of 2021 he was going back home so that could have given the MFC a chance to unload him to Freo and get Adam Cerra and some picks.

Young Jacob has commited to the club till 2025 and if his progress is good his next contract will be substantially higher and longer than the present one.

It gives the club a chance to groom the player rather than pitchfork him into the seniors before he is actually ready al la Jack Watts.

  5. Premiership depend on the cattle, luck and injuries.

If you have the players but are injured most of the year then you are yesterdays favourite.

Luck in the Grand Final and you kick points rather than goals but have more scoring shots al la Geelong 2008 then you lose.

Luck during the season where in clutch games you kick winning goals rather than losing point at the death getting you not enough wins to make the finals, look Collingwood 2022 if they lost all the close games 2 goals or less then they would have won 10 less games.

Cattle teams like North Melbourne, West Coast start the season knowing the team need to be at their best even to be competitive so their window is always in the future and depends on getting their picks right to become competitive in the future like the demons in 2008-2017 high draft picks either were duds or ordinary at the AFL level.

Players who look good at junior level maybe bigger and stronger then their opponents but fall by the wayside because of poor attitude or desire.

  6. In the old days you put players on the long term injury list so a player on the rookie list could play in the 1st but today the only reason you would do it if you wanted a player in the mid-season draft.

  7. I think the club was stuck between a rock and a hard place, since the player had his heart set on returning home, the AFL should have a policy that players in the top 10 have to sign with the clubs that pick them to a 3 year contract with the club having a 2 year exerciseable option beyond the initial term. Give the club that recruits a player like LJ at the minimum of 5 years service.

The next 10 get only 3 years and a 1 year option, the rest get 2 years.

Lucas Cook was at a different time and different era. Not much sophistication in drafting strategy back then compared with today. From what I recall Cook was a good size in height and weight and looked better ready for afl than what I see with Jefferson. Unfortunately there was a bit of Tarzan Jane look about him after we recruited him. I think Jefferson might be a tolesser version of Cook. Josh Schache might be a better comparison. Having said all that I might be a bit harsh.

From what I remember Lucas Cook was just big and not very mobile or agile, at least Josh Schache has the mobility and the agility.

For those of my era Paul Fanning son of Fred Fanning was big and strong but lacked mobility or agility to make it but he was a star in the U19.

  9. I looked at the posts and everybody agreed we are thin in the ruck area and when we actually addressed that area with a category B rookie some objected whilst others applauded.

I think we should congratulate the recruiters that a player regardless of his background chose the MFC and not the Eagles or Carlton.

If this type of system was not in place players like Blicavs would still be running around at the athletics.

We now have a project ruckman who may become the next Gawn/Grundy or the next Bradtke we would never know if we did not take the risk,

  10. At  least he looks happy maybe getting away from the WB pressure cooker will help him play his best football again.

Surronded by multiple AA players and near AA players whilst at the WB he was expected to carry more of the responsibility of leadership.

I have to admit that Isaac Keeler would definitely be an ideal replacement for Luke Jackson.

He is a tall forward-ruck currently standing at 198cms and is from North Adelaide in the SANFL. More information can be found out  regarding Isaac via this link: https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/isaac-keeler/

Obviously, he is from South Australia so there is the risk of the go home factor. But he certainly has a lot of talent.

Isaac would have to be up there as one of the tallest Aboriginal players that I can ever recall. However, there may be even taller ones that I have no knowledge of.

    Here is his highlights video:

In my view, Isaac Keeler is well worth considering with pick 13# (to become pick 14#) in the 2022 AFL National Draft.

Yes his highlights are excellent and reminds me of a young Franklin but slightly better overhead.
