  1. strange to take him but not to play him to allow him to get some match fitness back?

perhaps it is a way of saying ' you're 90% over the injury and could of played but given the season etc we're not going to risk you. come to perth as the emergency, if there is a problem you can play...

The reason an extra player is taken is one of the players maybe injured during training whilst over there or during the warmup before the team sheets are submitted. Thus a player is always on standby whenever the team travels interstate.

  2. The rule is if you have 16.5 premiership points over 2 seasons then you get the first round priorty pick, had d**K H**D riley not of won us that game against Carlton and we lost every game this year, we would end up with picks 1 and 2 but we had 20 premiership points at the end of last year

The rule is a team gets the priority pick before the 1 round if they dont win more than 8 matches over a two year period ala carlton(2007). If you win less than 5 games in a season you get a priority pick at the end of the first round ala richmond (2007).

  3. Best post yet Y_M...

We should go for 5 picks in the first 20 if we can, but EVERYONE will be doing that and we don't have anything to trade to get picks like that in a good draft. There's only a handful on the lis that would even be close to being that attractive to other clubs... Jones and McLean... Rivers and Bate maybe... Davey if he lifts... Petterd could give the first round a shake.... Bell would be good for a second rounder at his best. After that we have players that would be afterthoughts, or sweeteners at best...

It never ceases to amaze me how people propose the trading of players like CJ and Jamar, who has less than no value...

We will get pick 1 & 2 if we win 3 games or less.

  4. Davey and Pearce fighting out a spot?? wtf! Pearce is more of a midfield then a forward. silky skills on both side of his body and blistering pace.. wins alot of the ball and uses it well. teams would cream to have Davey and Pearce in the one team outrunning everyone.

Aussie has the build thats for sure, so i dont know what ur on about. look at andrew krackour managed to play 100 games plus with his slight skinny frame. to me aussie has the attitude that he wants to achieve his goal and become and good AFL player.

Daniel Kerr of WC is 178cm and 78kgs.

  5. Whilst i can appreciate the frustration and possible angst ,after all following football is a passion it really isnt called for to denigrat eanyone. He ( CAC) served in his position professionally. It is after all a job !! He now has another..its as simple as that.

In all professions and walks of life people move from A to B. Its life.. its also nothing to get terribly excited or upset over. He will be replaced in some fashion as all people are. Who knows , the next might be even better and would all those throwing grenades currently be so inpsired ?

We ( mfc ) know who is in the PSD. Do you seriously suggest it was going to be a last minute decision ? of course not. Neither will the Rookie draft.

People...take a deep breath..Its all ok.. and we move on!!

The only reason to get angry is CAC had just signed a 3 year contract, now wishes to break his contract and leave the club, where is the integrity <_< .

  6. That's wrong because trade week is before the National draft. Nothing happens inbetween the national and pre-season dfrat so if what you're saying is true he is still contracted at the time of the PSD.

The players who are uncontracted but on the teams list before the the november national draft, cannot enter the draft but may enter the pre-season draft. The pre-season draft originally was in February and all contracts expired on the 31st of December. The AFL just moved the draft so players could do pre-season training with their desired clubs. The teams can also nominate players they are drafting in the pre-season draft provided the teams before them don't object to their selection. Hudson has requested to be traded to WB but if his trade does not eventuate WB has pick 4 in the pre-season draft, if Richmond, Carlton and Melbourne specify they will not draft him he can sign and train with WB after the November National draft, unless Adelaide delist him before the draft then any team can draft him with their picks.

  7. If during the trade period carlton and Judd cant come to an agreement and judd Puts himself into the pre season draft. Is there any rule that stops Carlton from using their No. 1 pick from picking Judd up in the draft and not pay West Coast anything?

In the Pre-Season Draft the clubs dont use the draft picks but are allowed to contract any uncontracted player provided they are willing to pay the player the requested contract terms. The 1st pick though will be Richmond followed by Carlton then Melbourne and so on.

  8. THE END OF THE LINE by The Oracle

Godders notched up his 100th game for the club this year and he picked up some big scalps with his tagging roles earlier in the season. However, a knee injury put him out of the business of being a serial pest to the likes of Adam Goodes and Scott West and he leaves the club with 105 senior games and 23 goals under his belt. He is said to be the "greatest player to have ever worn the number 30 in the AFL whilst wearing a glove at the same time" but that's probably an unkind epithet to the career of a player got the very most out of himself – something that cannot be said for some of the more talented and skilful players in the game.

I think that the greatest player to wear 30 would disagree with your assessment. John Beckwith was captain/premiership player and coach of the meblourne football club was by far a better player. ;)
