  1. I like the current highlights and he has grown from 182cm to 185cm but he looks taller and stronger.

His disposal was elite in the highlights.

I think last year his form was solid but not flashy now he has confidence in his ability to take the game on which makes his game better.

  2. We have not even seen 1 round of 2023 and some comments are predicting Fremantle to drop but there is a major difference between practice matches and the real thing since coaches experiment during this period to see players play in different positions.

Fremantle has a very good onball players who as the season progresses will get better with games since most of them are very young.

I hope they drop but no matter what we have 2 first round picks and 2 second round picks and looking at the herald sun this morning there is a lot of players to like in the top 40.

Definitely think Christian Petracca's kicking style looks a lot smoother.

Hoping that he, Alex Neal-Bullen, Charlie Spargo and Clayton Oliver kick ALOT more goals in season 2023.

If both Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver can each kick over 35 goals this season it will put them in strong chances to possibly win that elusive Brownlow Medal.

If both player kick over 35 goals then we are definately going to be premiers.

  4. Management of the salary cap was not done by the coach but the list manager but his record as a player and coach was good but never won a premiership as either.

His coaching philosophy was trying to emulate Malthouse and failed, McRae just let the players play football.

We need to unpick how we went from 2021 second half specialists to 2022 second half faders. This aside, partner a fit TMac with a maturing JVR and get Lever back fit and in form. Sort those three and we are set for another shot at success and that is before we consider the upgrades with Grundy and Hunter and the likely breakout improvements that may come from our 2nd-4th years (outside JVR). This assumes that all that went right this year remains steady, which of course is unlikely to occur.

I dont believe any teams best touches ours its a matter of whether we can get the stars to align once again.

I think we have a great list but we need players like BB, TMac, Grundy and Hunter to get back their best and team remain injury free and anything is possible.

We have a number of X factor junior players who may develop fast in this season like Laurie, Howes, JVR, AMW, Taj Woewodin and Seston.

If some of these juniors push players in the current best 23 then we will be a much better team in 2023 than 2022.

Cant stand Geelong. How many key dees players have they recklessly injured in recent years. Viney smashed jaw, White almost killed with a vicious kick to the head and Oliver this year. All at the cattery i think.

    No reports of course.

Don't forget Steven May's broken jaw with the errant elbow which when you look at the vision was intentional trying to stop May's tackle.

  7. When we look at the list we have 22 of the 23 that played in the 2021 GF and we won not because of leg speed but ball speed where the forward entries came fast from the centre and kicked to players who were in the best position.

Additions of Grundy and Hunter adds class to the team with younger players like JVR and Chandler wanting a slice of the GF cake.

By the way Clayton has great acceleration over the first 5 metres and has speed of football skills watch the goal before 3/4 time.

  8. Most reviews are opinions of a writers who supports a different club and hopes that when they play his club it will win.

Injuries will play a big part in the 2023 season with Walsh and King having delayed starts to the season.

Clayton has had surgery and it may effect his season like 2019?

Most Games at Kardinia Park in the AFL era (1990 to 2023)

      TOTAL
    Melbourne 25
    Brisbane 24
    West Coast 24
    Adelaide 23
    Western Bulldogs 23
    North Melbourne 22
    Sydney 22
    Fremantle 20
    St. Kilda 19
    Port Adelaide 16
    Richmond 15
    Hawthorn 9
    Gold Coast 7
    GWS 7
    Carlton 6
    Essendon 5
    Fitzroy 4
    Collingwood 3

I cannot believe that in the period 1990-2023 which is 34 years we missed playing there only 9 times whilst Collingwood played there 3 times in that period so they missed 31 times.

I would not only ask a question I would tell the AFL they have to fix the imbalance.

He didn’t directly say that did he? Not to my ears anyway.

I think more than likely 3 firsts for 4 and 22 was offered. Possibly with some swaps of 2nds and 3rds.

That’s really only 2 firsts and a slight downgrade. A fair deal that doesn’t compromise our future by going all in with just 1 player.

  11. He admitted the MFC asked Essendon about pick 4 but refuted that they offered 3 first round picks by stating it had to be fair and reasonable without effecting the future, which is are words that you should never use when dealing with Essendon so the Cal Twomey conjecture was Essendon's spin.

Not quite. He's listed as 186cm Nicholls 189cm which wasn't necessarily that  short for even his era. '68 GF Don McKenzie his Dons opponent in the ruck was 188cm. 1970 GF Graeme Jenkins 193cm.

Actually Alan Morrow was a ruckman for St Kilda and was 183 and Graham Wise was 188 but ruckmen of that era were much shorter than today in fact Robert (Bob) Johnson Jr was 198 and was considered tall, players like him and Len Thompson were the template of the modern taller ruckmen.
