Are we witnessing a re-build by stealth
Moonshadow replied to Salems Lot's topic in Melbourne Demons
Kossie is only just 23 and Petty is 24. They're not too shabby and still very young -
Two things to consider: 1. Not equivalence, but his dad had no problem shifting alegences from Freo to Melbourne. My guess is Kalani will go with which ever option he feels most comfortable with, not so much to follow in his father's footsteps. 2. The club he chooses can also look forward to his younger twin brothers, should they display talent over the next 4-5 years. It's a close family

TRAINING: Thursday 27th June 2024 (Gabba)

He's got the pirate affliction: a sunken chest -
Am I right in suggesting that had we been permitted to offer more for Reid, so too could have North or other clubs also offered more? It's very narrow to look at one club only. Mac Andrew is the one we were dudded on. The AFL should not have changed the rule so quickly after clubs were encouraged by the AFL for years to develop players under the premise that they would then have first dibs. That's almost a breach of contract, it's like putting something on laybuy and then being told it will be sold to another buyer. If Kalani has indicated he wants to be a Dee, we need to lobby hard so that we don't get stiffed again. This is where Pert and Roffey need to work their magic

He'd be good company with Clarry then

Settle down. Over the top outrage

Yep. Mountain, molehill Wouldn't have been noticed had the media not worked themselves in to a lubed-up frenzy. Love the way Lethal smacked down Tom Morris last night. Morris talked like an excited child, Matthews talked with the wisdom of experience

I like the cut of his jib, but not the cut of his hair!

Love the scenarios GtG. I think Oliver is not worth much, unfortunately. We won't get pick 6 and F1 from hawks. We might get F1, around pick 9 or 10, but I honestly think that might be too much. Most non-Dees fans think he's damaged goods and his best is behind him. After this year Petty would get a high 2nd rounder. If we were to use this as a way of moving from 10 to 4 it would be a win Is it true that Adelaide offered 2 x 1sts for Petty last year? Sheesh!

Welcome to Demonland Matthew Jefferson
Moonshadow replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't mind Jeffo spending a few more weeks at Casey. He's developing very nicely and I see no reason to put him into the seniors until he is absolutely cherry ripe. Such a lovely set shot and the soft hands and one grabs in marking contests are really promising. I agree that a tall forward who is lightly framed should spend all the time he needs at VFL learning leading patterns and body positioning. He's quite different from JvR, which is a good thing long term. Jeffo could have 10+ years on the red and blue if he continues to improve. Wait till he's knocking hard on the door Here's his highlights from the weekend: https://www.afl.com.au/video/1157488 -
AFL: "Better TV"

Was tagged heavily by Philips. Max said Clarry went to LDU or another mid to make it two on one and release Jack Viney ✅️
-
I'd love to hear what is said into the umpires earpiece during the game. I've often wondered if there's encouragement to 'mix things up' a bit
-
Jeez, I wish clarry would occasionally lower his eyes and not slap the ball onto his boot blindly just to gain meters, temporarily
-
Who loves ya, baby?...
-
How the hell can we look so spent and unable to run in the last quarter when we've just come off the bye?
-
Yes, and quite a few sat down
-
3rd week in a row Fritter has been a whitches hat
-
If LDU requested a trade at the end of this year, regardless of contract status, I'd hope we do whatever it takes to get him. North wont keep him if he's not 100% buy in. We have a first rounder this year, next year and in 2026 (assuming multiple years becomes available). We might also get a decent pick for Petty, if his form turns around 🤞, and he wants to leave. Some of these would make it work. In short, we'll make it happen if he wants to come. Getting him to commit would be the hard part
-
Gawn has done two knees and gets bashed from piller to post every week. Can't see him running around for us beyond another 2 years. We definitely need a succession plan at the end of this year, preferably not involving a 2 x AA, soon to be 3 x AA. Imo Moyle could be a good target

2024 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Moonshadow replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Trade, Draft & Free Agency
I read that the youngest McCartin brother is showing some good form down the Western Districts (Lorne?), albeit as a mature aged player (25). Swans and Pies have sent list managers down to watch him play. Wonder if we are looking at him -
They would have been Melbournised and delisted within 3 years
-
If we aren't going hard for LDU and Battle then I will spew up. Get them and Moyle plus 2 or 3 picks in the draft. That will top us up nicely. Surely with Gus, BBB and possibly Tommo, Tmac and Petty leaving we have cap space?
