  1. I agree, stats are over-rated in football, you can have 40 possessions and waste half of them, it's what you do with them that counts, same as inside 50's.
  2. It seems carlton learnt something from the Dee's when in doubt just bomb into pockets and hope, only themselves to blame.
  3. Would have loved it if he made it but alas he doesn't have that one component that is needed and that is intensity, he gets pushed out of the way in contests to easily, does not chase hard enough when he is not in the contest and just does not have any mongrel for a tall man like his grandfather, on the hand I hope they bulk up JVR because has a lot of Schwarz in him with his movement this one could be special.
  4. Hate to tell you but I think you caught the wrong plane, we are playing at the GABBA tonight, never mind just have a beer and watch it from there....
  5. Why he's not a shoe in to coach an AFL club
  6. The way we bring the ball into the forward line makes Spargo and Kozzie more of a defensive role and that was fine last year but teams have worked on that, we need to either turn one of them into an attacking option or put someone in like Joel smith with the mindset of crashing packs just flying for everything and have BB just as a leading forward, or take Spargo out and try Chandler. On Harmes while he can be handy at times, but his main problem with him he invites the tackler to come at him but he is to slow to get rid of it when caught, did that on Sunday a few times, but I suspect there will be not many changes if at all going by the past.
  7. Russell Robertson had the yips early in his career, but then he just marked went back hardly any waiting kicked straight over the man on the mark, again if Dunstall says it is the right way then I will take his word for it, and if that's not good enough then watch Lockett, Hudson, Mckenna etc.
  8. You watch Max last year towards the end if he was 30 odd metres out he would kick it straight over the mark and he had success but now goes on the ark again, one of the greatest goal kickers Dunstall has always said kick the ball straight over the mark think I would take his word for it. Trac maybe should go back a few metres and run in to kick over the mark.
  9. It does not matter who you drop put in because unless they change their inside fifty deliveries nothing will change. The club has done a great job getting us to become a strong club and playing for final spots instead of bottom four spots, but let's look at it this way, when Geelong won those flags they had good forwards, the Hawks again strong forward line players, same with the Lions and the tigers and they never really changed their game style because of it. Then when the Dogs won everyone thought gee they will win a few, but they really did not have strong forwards and they had not a really strong backline but everythingfell into place, now come to us strong midfield, great backline but the forward line not so strong but again everything fell into place. The thing is the dogs and us kept playing the same style and setup and teams worked it out, then it became a little bit more difficult to score, now come to Friday night, a game that should have seen us up by at lesst 7 goal at least by half time but again we played pockets and in reality the tighter the angle, harder to score, there were a few times player were calling for it free, no pies player near them but you can see players are instructed to go down the line, pies players spread and they just transitioned the ball easily up the ground to score goals on easier angles. The one other problem we have is we do not not transition across the ground with ease it is always with a stutter but that's for another day. The fact that we do not have a park mark type player but have have lead up forwards and we continue to bomb it in is a worry even if Tmac was there it would not make a hugh difference. There is a saying the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result and that is where we are maybe we should try and change it up, they are using both smalls as defensive forward maybe try Chandler who is an attacking type player instead of Spargo but more importantly just try to change angles with the entries give BB a chance on the lead that is were he got most of his goals at North, let see happens in the next two games.
  10. That's the game style that they played last year, we have been worked out by the opposition, they don't even bother to look inside first thought pockets.
  11. No he has back to his old ways, he started kicking straight over the mark for those 30mtr goals, now he is back to kicking on an arc again, which will bring you kicking action out to in that's the problem, track does it as well.
  12. Come on stop blaming umpires, we lost a game we should have one because the pies adjusted their backline because we just go down the line.
  13. Defence what game were you watching, we kicked 3 goal to 7 what the hell do you expect, had months to change it up but no, kick to pockets ignore guys running free on the inside, kick to packs after packs.
  14. Stop kicking to pockets, open the forward line up, Jesus we are predictable.
  15. Just wish they would look in board in the forward line there was at least times players on their own across the ground that could have walked into goal.
  16. Against the bottom side beaten by 91 points, if the club thinks he is ready he will play but I don't think we need another Watts style intro to football arena, but who knows...
  17. They haven't been doing that for 20 odd years, wake up brother......
  18. I can see where you are coming from and understand your reluctance on the length of the contract, but we don't know what the conditions of these contracts and whether they are might be front, middle or back loaded or a mixture of them, but sometimes you need players that can fill these roles and they are just as important as a gun player and going by the past they are hard to find because some players will only accept what they think they are not what's good for the team, and thats where Gus fits in, gone from midfield, HB flank and wing so as much as I might think it might be a tad long I think it's for the best for the team going forward.
  19. A smart forward would have caused front on contact by moving forward on him causing contact.
  20. One can keep blaming the umpires, but that only papers over the cracks we have in the game plan with how to switch play, how to open up the forward line as I have said before teams have worked us out, but is it to late to tinker with the game plan I hope not.
  21. No it did not, if your blaming him for losing then you are not watching the game 8 goals to four after halftime not good enough.
  22. May rarely makes to many mistakes, give him a break, the amount of ball time in their half he did ok.
  23. They have no clue how to switch play and what goes with that, they never look inside going forward, they are so focused on going down the line they know nothing else, example harmes bursting out the centre milkshake is free and goal side, he kicks it to the pocket no thought.
  24. That was not the problem let's not make excuses.
  25. Absolute disgrace, a game that should have been won, remind me who is the midfield coach is we were lucky Trelor went off the ground subed out, once the dogs tightened up in the backline they knew we only going to go down one side of the ground again, unless they start to change course we will struggle to win the flag playing this way.
