NON-MFC: Opening Round
I have just heard the dumbest thing in football by Gary Lyon, Yze would be looking at his midfield coach and say sort this out, Jesus he's the head coach if he's seeing it he should make the change not rely on someone else.

POSTGAME: Opening Round vs Sydney
Well that was interesting to watch, some conclusions with this game, we are one skilled quick midfielder short, River's, ANB and Sparrow are not quick thinking and rush themselves when under pressure, Salem won't last all season in the midfield not because he's not skilled but because he is not an endurance runner and the forward entries changed instead of high ball in the pocket it was high ball in the middle, even May kicked out to the right that was a shock. Now it's only the first game and we should wait to see if it's a transitional thing with a new midfield coach regarding set-ups but when are they going to realise Max struggles against anyone who runs or jumps into him, time to change tack in how he sets up against those type of ruckman. We at times transitioned the ball well and then we had no clue how to do it to create the overlap and create fast play. Now I'm not big on Schache he has skills but lacks of dog in his play, but he at least tried to make a contest and with the type of delivery and how it was done is going to be hard to for any forward but would like to see how McAdam and Fullarton go first. But gee the game plan had the same old feel about it but I always wait till around 5-7 rounds when the intensity drops off a little with teams.

Training Ground?
History is to be remembered not lived, time to move on from thinking that we be back at the MCG full time.

And players have to learn about protecting themselves, unfortunately it's not taught at younger levels now it's head over the ball without awareness because the umps will out for me.

Angus Brayshaw Forced into Retirement
Whilst I am disappointed for Angus as his career has been cut short his health is more important, now, no matter what people think about the Maynard decision and the AFL tribunal it seems Gus was one hit away from this happening anyway, it could have been this year, next year but it could have happened. I wish Gus all the best for his future and he will always have that special connection as a premiership player, the letter that he wrote showed his class as a person of integrity I hope the club looks at involving him in a mentoring or development role for younger players be it full time or part-time.

It's a combination of all that and it comes down to game plan pure and simple.

Whilst I have been critical of our game plan regarding forward entries the last 2 years, I will be waiting to see how it goes when McAdam, Fullarton, Petty and Fritsch are playing together, but it will take a little time to either work or not. I have always set aside the first 5-7 or so rounds of the season and will do so again to see how it goes and while the dancing with your sister in our sim game was disappointing in parts I will look forward to our next game.

Unleash Kozzy in the Guts
He has no tank to be a midfielder he is a burst player and plays on instinct his decision making in that midfield position is not great. I understand people's view on him as being quick but if he had to go on 2 or repeat efforts he'd be asleep for half a game, leave him where he's dangerous and make him an attacking forward not a defensive one. I am hoping with Petty and McAdam, Fritsch and maybe Fullarton along side him he will really be a handful.

Not worried about the result in the dancing with your sister game , but more about ANB, Sparrow and Rivers decision making in tight contests it was not good. The one thing I still cannot understand why our forwards always start behind their opponents makes it hard to mark the pill in packs. Now I know it was just a little hit out but when the tigers were on a 10 goal unanswered goals the midfield set up was always the same, thought there was a chance to change it but other factors might be the reason why it was allowed.

Petracca: "When the pressure mounted... we crumbled"
He was stating the obvious we all saw it they knew it and didn't fix it, it will be interesting to see the corrections this year.

Myself would prefer them to stop talking about it and as the saying goes, actions speak louder than words.

Pretty well said and part of that problem is we don't transition the ball quick enough, we go across the ground but have to hold it a up until players run to position to receive it its not a natural thing to do. I hope they are developing that part of the game as it does open up the forward line.

Duck your head now for saying that, some here think there is nothing wrong with our setups and execution. On the kicking it's been a problem especially the depth of kick to a player on the run good observation.
