  1. Wow I can't stand these 2 teams but the Hawks getting the rough end of umpiring. Very fast footy, but if and when it becomes in tight and pressured, I can't see the Hawks matching the Cats.
  2. I am a real fan of Buku Khamis, love the way he plays. If the Dogs have to find a way to keep Naughton, Darcy and JUH I would make a play for this kid. Could be anything.
  3. Sydney looking bog ordinary in skills and structure.
  4. I feel he has gone backwards this year, but he was steady today. I agree, lots of players start on shaky ground and grow into AFL players, and Howes looks to be on the same path. With Lever & May out, Turner on the rise and Adams playing OK at Casey, Howes is among the pack and needs consistent games and consistent form.
  5. I can't wait until his match fitness catches up, because his physical presence and goal smarts will add further dimensions to our forward line. Huge fan of this bloke.
  6. May and McVee are certainties. Difficult to drop players after today's win, but Turner is a definite out and Sharp and Melksham were probably our worst.
  7. I have been really concerned about his lack of pace, which remains an issue, but his last half and in particular last quarter was really, really good. His strength allowed him to stand up in the thick of things, and he was still able to run and kick in the last quarter which is rare for a 1st year player. Very impressed. And he can kick - a skill we so desperately need.
  8. A good serviceable game from Fullarton today. Forward pay looked solid enough, and his ruck work was better than I anticipated. A lot better than what JVR and Fritsch have been offering.
  9. A shout out to some things that might go under the radar. Fullarton a good chop out for Max, and seemed to understand his forward role well. The tackling from Viney, Trac and Oliver. A lot of in-close hard work from all three. Langford's strength and poise in the last quarter. The gut running from Langdon, Chandler, Rivers and Spargo in the last quarter. The quiet but effective games from Howes and Windsor.
  10. Kozzie Bowey Tmac Viney Gawn Petty
  11. At last we got to see our boys play our way. Contested, effort, team work, transition and brilliant defence (for the most part). Bowey, Kozzie, Viney and TMac - wow. Gawn's last quarter. Langford's game. And the backline when Turner went down - well done. Best of all was our effort and intensity around the ball.
  12. Something happening across our half back line. Constant 2 players free near CHF. Turner being off is messing our structure up
  13. Love seeing the way we are playing. If our senior players like Oliver, Salem, and Trac improved their disposal efficiency we would be 6 goals up, not 3. Lots of injured and tired players on both teams, so it will be effort and heart that wins this game. With no May or Lever, and Turner subbed off, a huge shout out to our back 6 being able to hold the Freo forwards from a big score.
  14. Our top 3 tacklers are Viney, Oliver and Trac. This is so important to our effort today
  15. Fullarton hasn't been too good, but he has contested, is a very good 2nd ruck option, and seems to be getting to the right positions when playing forward. I would love him to hold his spot on what I have seen today.
  16. Great improvement across the park, so good to see. Langford and Lindsay starting to look at home, Tholstrup catching up to the pace of the game, Fullarton a few errors but is playing a role. 2 things are importantly better: our transition from D50 to F50, and our forward system. Oh, and add our 82% disposal efficiency - doesn't hurt either. Howes and Turner doing really well.
  17. Oliver is in the top 2 Dees players I have seen, but his place in the starting 22 is on a knife edge now. His disposal is killing us. Sub off in the 2nd half I reckon. Bowey and Kozzie killing it.
  18. 2 goals from our errors. Disappointing.
  19. We are on but room for improvement. Freo are not near their best yet so we have to remain switched on. Our disposal by foot is so much better, handball needs immediate improvement. Very watchable game
  20. Feeling good after a sleep in. Rye toast and jam, home brewed coffee, and now chillaxing on the patio before I finish a small patch of paving. Starting to think of today's game so jump on DL to touch base with my tribe. And BANG - like clockwork - DL's collective demeanour of depressive pessimism invades my morning feel-good to impose MFCSS on me. Ah well, at least it is consistent. I have no idea what to expect of Dees v Freo today. Both teams can be super flaky but we are in very poor form while Freo are looking OK. My morning coffee is being consumed from my 2021 Premiership mug so hopefully the footy gods are paying attention and some "reap what you sow" is coming my way.
  21. 1 lousy flag? I waited 57 years for it and it was magnificent. I will sing the praises of Goodwin for the rest of my life for the 2021 flag. Is he coaching well now - no, I believe he is coming out of a particularly poor patch of coaching. I am unsure if Chaplin is a good forward coach, and if our skills are so poor then what has Choco been doing? Lots of coaching stuff is a concern. But for me, much more needs to be laid on our players, especially our senior players. I also consider that the club has no CEO, no home base, and an interim president so I don't lay all our ills at Goodwin's feet. But I will watch the Freo game believing we can win, hoping we can win, even if I continue to scream at the TV in outrage and frustration at what we produce.
  22. Wow, this forum has become like drinking battery acid. Difficult to enjoy when so many eat our own. I for one am glad Goodwin came out and backed his program, players, coaches and game plan. Yes, he might be totally delusional, but I love our coach digging in and showing defiance - even to our own supporters. As for ins and outs, I have no problem with Tholstrup coming straight back in. The only options are a bunch of Casey players who have shown limited AFL standard. Glad to see Fullarton get a go, a bit surprised Turner comes back in, but again, only Casey players as options. Jefferson's hand possibly yet to heal fully. I agree with the views about the skills and clearances from our midfield but the next wave of midfielders (Rivers, Kozzie, McVee, Sparrow) are either out of form or yet to return from injury, so I can only hope of improvement from Trac, Clarry, Viney etc...
  23. Agreed Bing. Not everything was poor, but when we were poor it was wooden spoon-ish. When we got 10 points up only to stuff it up in single moments so many times... With so many things looking lifeless or getting worse, some of our younger players are looking very ordinary. They might improve and I hope it is quickly, but Langford is a real worry, and my man Windsor is a shadow of his 2024 season.
  24. Bowey Langdon Gawn Petracca Viney Pickett
  25. I feel sad tonight. To see this team, with so many Premiership players still playing, playing with little spirit or intensity, poor skills, and the most dysfunctional forward line I have seen since the Neeld era.
