I've decided to give the Paleo diet a go to try and shed some of those unwanted kg's in time for summer and give myself some more energy. I am 5'9" and to begin with I weighed in at 77.2kgs. In just 3 days of being on this diet I have already lost 2.5kgs and am now 74.7kgs. To be honest, it's a very bland diet compared to the foods that I usually eat but the weight loss and not feeling bloated after meals has made it worthwhile so far. I didn't eat too badly to begin with but I do enjoy my pizzas, pasta, noodle and rice dishes. Haven't really noticed a marked increase in energy just yet. I played a game of basketball last night and was just as knackered as usual during it and at the end of it. Hoping that my energy will increase as I progress through the diet. It really is a 'caveman' diet in which you are not allowed to eat any processed foods or foods that have additives. Foods that you are allowed to eat are some meats, fish, seafood, fruits, vegetables, eggs, nuts, seeds and healthy oils. No unnatural sugar and no carbs. When it comes to drinks it is pretty much water and green tea. Not much of a selection there! You are not really supposed to drink alcohol but a glass of wine with dinner is alright and distilled spirits in moderation with no mixers or just with soda water is accepted. Unfortunately beer is not Paleo. So I would expect that the training pics that we see will illustrate a rapid loss in fat for the players and if they are maintaining their protein intake then their muscle defintion should not decrease.

Round 1 2015 FB: Garland McDonald Jetta HB: Grimes Dunn Lumumba C: Vince N Jones Watts HF: Kent Hogan Howe FF: Garlett Gawn JKH R: Jamar Tyson Viney I: Cross Pedersen M Jones Sub: Salem I think that our young recruits will need to show some form in the VFL before they get a shot in our firsts. That includes Frost. There might be one that excels at training and in the NAB Cup that is too good to refuse and if that's the case then I would expect M Jones to miss out. The young recruit to come in would be the sub. I expect Dawes will come in for Pedo for our round 2 match unless Pedo plays exceptionally well. When looking at the above 22, at their best there aren't many that I would expect to be dropped back to the VFL so I would expect that the competition for spots will be fierce. This is good.

Both Capiron and Bampton weren't picked up but were both touted as mid to late draft picks in the National Draft. I wonder what's going on there?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - AARON VANDENBERG
ben russell replied to The Red Fox's topic in Melbourne Demons
"Aaron Vandenberg has won the Ainslie best-and-fairest for the second year in a row. The onballer had a fantastic season dominating the possession counts and finishing off up forward with 20 goals. Vandenberg finished second in the NEAFL best-and-fairest and was also selected as a midfielder in the NEAFL 2014 Team of the Year." http://www.neafl.com.au/index.php?id=16&tx_ttnews%5Btt_news%5D=1891&cHash=575a08b3ab400714dc18f111d4b58899 -

A List Overview Ahead of the Rookie Draft
ben russell replied to ChaserJ's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nice write up and list assessment. Enjoyed reading about your rookie prospects too. If I can be picky then I would just say that you need to edit this part: "Players like Sam Blease and Luke Tapscott haven’t come on and may well join the list of departures shortly." Cheers for the article. -
Collingwood supporter actually. Who would have thought!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - ALEX NEAL-BULLEN
ben russell replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just watched Neal-Bullen's highlights for the first time. He has a lovely kick on him and looks as though he plays a lot of his footy off half back. Perhaps he could end up playing that running half back role that we have so desperately been looking for. -

I really like that too. You can tell in their interview that Petracca and Brayshaw are genuinely rapt to be playing alongside one another at the MFC. Stretch was also very quick to get on Twitter to express his happiness with the recruitment of his best mate, Neal-Bullen. Was nice to pick up an existing players brother too. -
Not looking likely. Poster 'The Devil Inside' has informed us that he hasn't been training because he has injured himself again.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - OSCAR MCDONALD
ben russell replied to Dee-licious's topic in Melbourne Demons
Welcome to the MFC Oscar McDonald! I too was on the edge of my seat as pick 40 approached. Every single phantom draft I saw had him going in the 20's. Rapt to have him at the Dees at pick 53. A nice touch that big brother Tom was chosen at the very same pick! -
Fair call. I just think that following the trade period and our selections tonight that a back-up key forward is our most pressing need so if we have our eye on a key forward in particular we should snap them up before any of the other 17 teams select them before our next pick. Then go with the next name on the recruiters list at pick 20.
-
Best tall forward available at pick 2. Best available player at pick 20 in the eyes of the recruiting team. I trust these blokes now.
-
Oscar at 53!!!!
-
McDonald at 53 perhaps??
-
Massive slider. Inside mid that was expected to go in the 20's Great get Dees!
-
Still there at our pick!
-
36 down and McDonald still there!

*chuckle* Sylvia might aim to play 22 games next year with Freo but that will not happen. He was worse than woeful in the games he played for them this year. My predicition is that he will not be on their list in 2016. -
Interesting to note that Brisbane had access to Hammelmann as an academy pick but chose not to select him. I would have thought a key forward would have been at the very top of their priority list.
-
Makes sense. I think we would take McKenzie if available but Hammelman is the likely back up plan if we want a key forward at pick 40.
-
My wishlist Pick 2: Angus Brayshaw Pick 3: Christian Petracca Pick 40: Reece McKenzie Pick 42: Billy Stretch (father/son) Pick 53: Dean Gore Pick 83: Neville Jetta (rookie upgrade) Rookie 2: Caleb Daniel Rookie 20: Billy Evans

That's one hell of a highlights package. Gee I hope this kid is a Demon within the next 24 hours. -
I hope to god we don't have pick 11 ever again.
