  1. I 40% agree 40% disagree 20% not really sure ( sorry..it's Friday and its been a loooong week)
  2. I suggest that we have a list with two columns on it . 1/ Sign him up and sign him up now 2/ Wait until seasons end - not sure if required I would suggest we would talk to all players in the first group regularly about contract extensions the season before and i am sure that Petracca sits fairly and squarely in the first group.
  3. NikNat has hardly inspired and to me his career to date has been a highlight reel and not much more - ultimately disappointing. I would compare Watts to his own output and he has also been disappointing.
  4. !00%... I am not sure why some posters even go to the games. Do I think our talent is anywhere near Hawthorns ? No. Have I seen over the last two seasons that we can bring effort to a game and push opposition ? Yes. Hawthorn was scratchy last week. We weren't much chop ( improved late in the game). If I went to the game with the attitude that we are going to be putrid, I wouldn't bother going. I go with the attitude that we will bring our best to the game and really push Hawthorn. Will I ultimately end up disappointed - probably but I just can't go to a game thinking we are going to get hammered - I might as well just stay home.
  5. Jeff Duff ( ex Kush ) does Bowie shows around Melbourne
  6. For all those who bemoan us not interviewing Dustin martin and not taking Ollie Wines - we got this covered - Petracca said he plays like Martin AND Wines - two for the price of one - ohh yeah...
  7. You are amusing.... ( I am trying to recall who in this thread took it upon themselves to make a good news petracca thread into a whack the club website thread..now i remember)
  8. soooo..your original post slaps the club for not getting something on their website even though it is controlled by the AFL not the club - yet you slap anyway..well done..
  9. you should read my post first - a little research goes a long way.
  10. And before you sink the boots into the club website - may i suggest that you check at afl.com. check the first three articles on Richmond , PA and Lions and you note that none of the three appear on the clubs sites. That tells me that the feed from AFL.com to the affiliates is automated and just hasn't happened yet.
  11. Why does the idea that another club is into a player big time get questioned or surprise anyone. What do you think our recruiting staff do with their week besides watch footy basically on the weekends. The recruiters/list managers are constantly meeting with copious qty's of managers and other list managers to see where their players are at and telling them all that they are welcome at MFC. I would suggest we are into numerous players big time. However as we know, there are only a limited amount of trades that go through due to the system and the players themselves. We got an interesting insight into Frost with the club admitting he had been on the radar for quite a while. The first approach to him certainly wasn't made during the draft period. Very happy to have him extend...
  12. I live to see the response from Demonlanders the first time a player gets asked about how we will do on the weekend and he says " pretty much, we will get smashed"
  13. Saturday night - Courtney Barnett at the Forum - interesting to see how she translates live.
  14. I am so why shouldn't he be. (I refuse to have a flu shot as I believe their value is limited - note - real reason - terrified of needles)
  15. $10M for 10 years plus dibs on his first two male offspring ( I reckon even his daughters will be guns so we should get them packaged into the deal as well)
  16. One mans trash is another mans treasure ! I will be no means say he was good on the Weekend but i saw glimpses.
  17. I enjoyed chisel more than Rod Stewart but I was seriously odd then and nothing has changed
  18. paper paper - munchy munchy computer computer - wipey wipey
  19. Whatever our differences of opinion are - this is a once off difference of opinion. The landscape has been changed forever and there is now zero defence. If my club now asked me to fart I would keep my cheeks clenched until I was sure it was AFL approved.
  20. I compare him to Salem and his trajectory. Would you trade out Salem at seasons end ? no. Unless Jimmy produces much more by season end, I am not saying he will be cut, I suggest that we would be open to a decent offer on him.
  21. I agree that they should have known better however..... I have talked to an ex footballer and he is conflicted because he said all players are well aware that the responsibility ends with them on putting anything into their systems. He did say that unless you have experienced an AFL environment you simply can't appreciate the extent that clubs go to uphold the ethos of "team". I asked the obvious question - "what would you have done". He said that if it went down as suggested - the whole team addressed on the program that was declared safe and legal he probably wouldn't have questioned. He is gobsmacked that an administration could stand in front of the group and declare a program safe and legal that was not. He understands why it wasn't questioned. However, he doesn't understand how it was not questioned outside the club by parents and managers. I don't compare this with the Chinese swimmers and East German athletes - relays aside - those are still individual sports not team based sports. An interesting aside - he further suggested that if the players do have any adverse health issues down the track - it is a class action from the players with too many zero's on it to even contemplate. Note - do not confuse my sympathetic stance on the players with the understanding that they need to be punished.
  22. To me you have argued against yourself. To me it is key that it was 34 players not one player. From the minute you walk through the door of an AFL club it is all team team team .Team rules, team meetings, travelling as a team, fly the flag for your teammate, don't let the team down - you don't question - you just accept as part of the team. So the coach and administration from within the club stand up in front of the team and say we are putting you on supplement program - it is approved and kosher. This is completely different from a single player taken aside and injected or worse - someone from outside the club. This is your club requiring compliance to the team ethos which is drilled into these players day in and day out. I understand why the players need to be whacked as it is clear that players have to be responsible for what they take but I also have a certain amount of sympathy for the players. My contempt for the coach and administrators knows no bounds for breaking that all important trust of the players. The day of putting your trust in any club to do the right thing by the TEAM was completely over the day the coach and administrators stood up in front of the group at Essendon and said - don't worry - this is all above board.
  23. Why is this even an argument ? shouldn't the argument be "would you take a punt on Barry and why are we still punting on McKenzie. Jones and Terlich ?"
  24. It certainly was political. Taking away from the issues of the corruption, the political nature of the executions, the rehabilitation of the men to me it always was and always will be about the broader issue of capital punishment. If killing someone or doing a crime that will cause deaths ( which is the principle behind the death penalty for drug crimes) is so heinous then how can administering death as a punishment be any less heinous. Wherever the death penalty exists it makes us a little less human.
  25. I am not arguing if he is a bust or not - the premise of the post is we recruited "flankers". Toumpas/Salem and a myriad of others are recruited as mids. Very few players these days are recruited as flankers as running players are usually described as mid and rotated or in salems case educated through the flanks. My belief is Salem will be in midfield sooner than later . one positional flankers like Isaac Smith are rare these days.
