  1. This is the great unknown and will be a test of Paul Roos' elder wand. So far we have seen , pre Roos, very few footballers take the next step with Nat Jones being the exception. This year we have seen (IMO) 3 players take a really good step forward - Pedersen, Dunn and Jetta. My big unknown is how many more of the pigs ears Roos can turn into silk purses.
  2. Truly ? I'm staggered at that. I can somewhat get Allison not being at a Casey game because he is not the coach. But Knights as coach of the VFL side not coaching if the Cats play on the same day ?
  3. Summed up beautifully - and in that list above there are some players who we may have in one of the columns who jumps into another column. (Nev Jetta this season being one them). 8 will go at the end of year and 8 the year after - that's normal. To me - it's not about who we let go at the end of this year and next year - it's about who we bring in.
  4. No we don't - that's the one thing we have excelled at this year. We have shaved masses off the "against" column because we haven't let the opposition team own the corridor and as Roos has pointed out - we have mostly made other times take shots from "difficult places." Two thing need to improve. - Our midfield has taken massive steps forward from last year - but we still need to be much better. - our entries in the forward line need to improve. I believe both will come - through drafting/trading and continued Roos guidance.
  5. Does remind of what we saying about Neeld's approach when he first came in.
  6. He was good on Saturday night. You may be right. I may be suffering from the "Clint Batram's". Probably didn't make that many errors but when he did they were real stinkers. Goes back to my point - the times he turns it over is when he has too much to decide what to do. Makes it look worse.
  7. and i think people need to look at the game in conjunction with stats. I think Tommy Mac is a beauty but the part of his game that needs attention is his disposal and decision making. He is actually better when is he is instinctive and has little time to think about his disposal. The more time he has the more he worries me. Grimes flaw in his game is the same and needs to improve - I don't need a figure of 71% to tell me that.
  8. That's wazzvegas to you.
  9. i resemble that remark !
  10. didn't realise that Thompson did that - I thought he got homesick and asked to be traded back to Adelaide.
  11. Hey Saty, Interested in your views. There has been some debate surrounding Allison's review of the MFC listed players at Casey. There are fairly forthright. Do you like the critiquing of players publicly in this manner ? Do you think the players would be peeved by this approach ( not that they are criticised but criticised so publicly - see the Evans review)
  12. I get its valuable to us - not so sure it is valuable to the players but that's been debated elsewhere.
  13. I think it's settled - Abbott is a doofus
  14. In fact some reviews/best players have been polar opposites. It shows that these coaches are not impressed with lots of disposals if your direct opponent is also doing the same.
  15. way too logical for my liking.
  16. Frawley has been named at Fullback this week - it will be interesting if he plays there. I wonder if that means that Roos now thinks he is staying - I think Roos may have been coming around to him staying last week as he played in defense and a few weeks before I think Roos must have been totally unsure as he played 3 quarters forward and then switched with Dunn and played the last quarter back. (note this post is also dripping with sarcasm)
  17. - Blease/Tapscott being mentioned in the best each week but not a gig ? - JKH getting 30 touches but not being elevated ? - Salem having a modest return but still retaining his spot ? - Toumpas not being given the same leniency as Salem ? Some here are scratching their heads at what they see as odd but it just tells me one thing. We make a subjective assessment on what we see in the seniors each week and some have the extra insight of actually watching Casey. We don't have real insight into training, we don't have insight into the physical loads on young players and how they are tracking, we have zero insight into discussions between players and coaches and we don't know what the exact roles given to each players are and the coaching panels expectations. So do I have faith in this coaching panel ? Absolutely. I therefore must be missing a piece of the puzzle as to why Salem has had such a modest return ( granted - every time he gets the ball something happens) and is getting a game as opposed to some at Casey who appear to be banging the door down.
  18. it's a no brainer - one of them puts in irrespective - the other picks and chooses his moments.
  19. Old enough ? They are still on the radio ! They are doing a live show in September which I have tickets for. Woot woot
  20. I love a good conspiracy theory but this one just makes no sense. Apart from your point of possibly reducing his value I suggest that posters go back to the beginning of the season and look at who Roos had available to play forward. He basically only had three choices of who he could swing there (remembering that Fitzy, Pedo who was coming off horrific form last year , watts who Roos was trying to take the pressure off by getting him into the midfield and Howe were already selected there.) Basically left Dunn who finally had started to show consistent form as a defender or Tommy Mac who was just developing. the obvious choice was Frawley. To add further - last week with Tommy mac out he had the option of Pedo going back but opted for Frawley - how does that fit in with the idea of getting a backline used to playing without him ?
  21. That's what gets up my nose. Shut up and say nothing.
  22. if process was not followed as Essendon and some journo's are angling at then Wada may not win. It will be interesting indeed. No it wont - it will be tedious and drawn out and it wish it would all be over.
