  1. great post - but I note with interest that you are only an annual member not a life member. I question your loyalty that you have only signed up for one year. Before I realised that you had only signed for one year I thought your posts were valuable and insightful but now I believe they have little merit and will be no great loss if you decide not to sign up again. I have heard a rumour that you are hanging out hoping to be picked up by a more successful fan forum like "The Punt Road End". The good news is that if P-Man does go we can get a very high compensation poster pick and cherry pick posters from Saintsational fan forum. (good job P-man)
  2. At least you can freely admit to that. I don't want him to go but everything Redleg posted is logically followed by his opinion. I just can't understand that the longer his non signing has gone on, apparently the bigger "dud " he has become.
  3. Does anyone believe there is any doubt that Roos will take the 3rd year option. There is so little likelihood that he would suggest an apprenticeship of 1 year only.
  4. rubbish, rubbish, rubbish. You can debate his worth to the club, what should be paid to keep him at the club. You can debate if if he is in our top 5 players or top 10. We can all probably agree that he, like many others, turns it over too much. But to suggest he offers "nothing" is just blatant nonsense. I can respect opinions that he will can be covered if he goes and he may not leave a huge hole. Whilst I don't necessarily agree I can also respect the opinion that if we got a top 5 pick for him as compensation that we may well come out ahead. I won't respect an opinion that is clearly coloured by his unwillingness to sign on in a timely fashion that suits supporters.
  5. Leaving the 'backwoods' of GWS, and moving ANYWHERE would also be attractive to many young kids.
  6. i think the term "wall" and "urinated up against it " comes to mind
  7. I would bet my bottom dollar it is not garbage. It is not garbage that our recruiting team would be scouring every team and seeing who we could possibly dislodge from an opposition club to improve our list. I would be very hesitant to suggest though, that it is going to actually happen. I would suggest we throw out a whole heap of bait on fishing line and it's just a matter of who bites. After they have bitten, it is a matter to see if we can get the deal done.
  8. Interesting you would mention him. He signed a four year deal with the Pies but his contract before that was for 1 year only - apparently that put him into the restricted FA bracket. He turned down a deal ( according to reports) - massive dollars from GWS. I thought the signing of the one year contract was the most opportunistic play from a player I have seen in a long while. We question loyalties on here but the Pendlebury play was a money grabber of the highest order. And then they made him captain.... (don;t get me wrong - one of silkiest players to pull on boots - and hard as nails as well)
  9. I am in the Roos camp - I would love to see us win but what I definitely need to see is a return to the pressuring and hassling we had for a good period after the Eagles debacle. The last two weeks havent been good enough in terms of how we have pressured the opposition ball carriers bringing the ball into their forward 50. So which would I take - 2 more wins and the balance being performances like we dished up for the first half of Saturday or no more wins but bring the intensity we did against Port Adelaide for 3 and half quarters for all the remaining games. I know which I would take. edit - having said that - if we bring the same intensity we did against the Power for 4 quarters then we are likely to win games anyway.
  10. How exactly do you plan for a players departure in the modern game. I am sure the recruiting staff are looking at possible replacements and thinking about the extra money in the cap but on the field ????. Did the Hawks preplan Buddy's departure - no - they won a premiership win with him as the centrepiece of their forward line. If your team is flush with options as to replacements then maybe you can. But I don't know many clubs that are and I don't many clubs that do "preplan". There has been talk that Frawley was moved forward with the thinking of letting the defense prepare for a post Frawley era. I believe Frawley went forward but we were out of other options. I think this is further reinforced by Frawley now going back to defense when there are other options. Also Roos threw the team around on Saturday and pushed Dunn forward and then through Howe forward - doesnt really tally with Roos planning for Frawleys departure.
  11. Camerons form has been iffy this year but I quite forgot that he kicked 60 plus goals last year. A big investment but with his talent it may turn out to be a cheapie
  12. I want my 20% - I say we bring in the union busters - a few baseball bats and head breakers....like the bad old days. ( Ive watched Hoffa too many times)
  13. I think clubs like ours should only have to pay 70% of the cap and then give a further 15% of the cap to us supporters for turning up every week - that seems equitable.
  14. A dream for him - $1m a season in his fourth season ? That's Tom Scully foolishness. He will come with a large price tag - but $1M per season. hmmmm
  15. Quick of mind, quick ball movement, quick efficient decision making and as you point leading to the ball instead of your opponents leading you makes a side look quick. I would suggest that the only side which is really quick is Port Adelaide. The likes of Geelong, Hawthorn, Freo etc when on song, have some quick players but it is more about them moving the ball quickly.
  16. you don't get an argument from me - but taking your point of playing 1 out of 4 on Saturday - for most of last season we played none out of 4.
  17. Not cherishing - its nothing to hang our hat on - did we stop the bleed after halftime or not ?
  18. We have miles and miles to go - and it was not an honorable loss - it was a hammering. But the simple truth of it is - last year if we were 60 points down at half time it meant a 100 point smashing at the end of the game.
  19. I have said elsewhere but the one thing that ( for most of the season) Roos has got us doing - is not giving up the corridor - we failed at that on Saturday. Lots of points have been scored against us but we are making teams take long range shots or shots from difficult angles.
  20. Roos takes into account the collective wisdom of Demonland and delists 36 players at seasons end.
  21. I can understand it impacting the player but I think the teamates wouldn't give it a second thought
  22. They missed more easy shots in the second quarter - but the first quarter of 3.7. there was one that should not have missed.
  23. It was over by the second quarter but watch the first quarter again - there were definitely NOT four directly in front - i took note as I keep hearing the same thing week in and week out - if only they had kicked straight.
  24. And they needed to. We were horrible on Saturday - I try very hard to remain positive and the only glimmers I took out of the game was Viney and Riley and we managed a shutdown job in the second half. The other thing I would like to refute is week in week out I hear - "if they had kicked straight we would have been done by 100 points". I took note of the first quarter where they kicked 3.7 - we rushed 3 behinds. One kick was well outside 50 and touched . Two were from tight angles - one only was a gimme that was missed. To OD - sometimes the scoreboard ain't all it seems to be. edit - i know the scoreboard said we got done by 11 goals - but look beyond that double edit - most of this is in response to OD
  25. That's the key unknown for me. I used to be in the same boat as you on this but now I am not so sure. Especially if the likes of Roos is going to stay around in a Director of Coaching capacity.
