  1. This kid, and he still is a kid, is the most important player at the club.
  2. From 2005 when Elton John married David Furness
  3. Some of you are taking this way too seriously. Watts is supporting his new team just like Lever, Lewis, Frost, Bugg, Tyson, Garlett, McKenna, Vince, Hibberd and Melksham do for us now. Double standards abound.
  4. Put him in the 2018 team and we are complete
  5. You are right I also forgot to put Hunt on the list. 22 years old and 41 games
  6. I sort of agree with that but I don’t think we were any realistic chance before this year - too young and too inexperienced. The problem between the ears I feel comes down to leadership. Jones, the fine servant he has been, doesn’t seem to be able to make a difference when games start to go against us. I think this is why Viney was promoted early last year and I think he was sorely missed in round 23 this year.
  7. Agree. This is the list that best indicates where Melbourne may go Hogan 23 y.o at the beginning of 2018 season. 51 games played Salem 22 years 46 games Petracca 22 years 39 games Viney 24 years 88 games Lever 22 years 56 games Brayshaw 22 years 36 games Tyson 24 years 90 games Oliver 21 years 35 games Stretch 21 years 36 games ANB 22 years 34 games Harmes 22 years 44 games OMac 22 years 37 games I know that all Clubs have good young players but that is a dozen good to very good players who are about to reach a 4-5 year sweet spot. Gawn, TMac, Garlett, Jetta, Melksham and Hibberd are all young enough and good enough to play for most of that time too. We really should be giving it a fair nudge anytime from next season on.
  8. Not a comment on The situation Colin finds himself in but it must be difficult making the transition from full time footballers to civilians particularly if you haven’t planned ahead. You go from making 100’s of thousands of dollars a year and in an environment where you are told where to be, what to eat and when to exercise. You have the mateship and adrenaline. Your picture is in the papers and your playing deeds are featured on the tele each week. You can get into any night club in the country and people who wouldn’t normally pay you any attention hang off your every word just because you play football And then all that is gone, literally overnight. The rivers of gold stop and the security of being micro managed ends. I remember reading an article (by perhaps Tim Boyle) who, after retiring, was amazed how quickly his body went from being elite athlete back to normal person. Not only do they do it physically but socially and possibly financially they become mere mortals. Psychologically that must be a confusing trip.
  9. He sat out the combine due to a shoulder injury. Source afl.com
  10. Aside from one off specials like interviews with Jason Taylor the best thing about Demonland at this time of year is the training reports. I understand that Satyr can rub people up the wrong way but if that’s the case then chuck him on ignore and forget about him. That way those, like me, who want to read his reports can do so and also the Facebook ones too. The more reports the merrier
  11. Think the anti-Saty squad were getting stuck into him a while back and he mentioned that he may not post training reports. I hope that is not the case. I'm an interstater too and depend on him and others to keep us informed.
  12. If we keep getting A.A squad players like Lever we should give up first rounders forever
  13. It’s just the vibe but i like Lever in 8.
  14. Think the only certainty is that Jason Taylor will call a name and we will all go who?
  15. Tomorrow will be draft number 34. Here are games averages for various draft picks. Picks 20-28 Ave games played = 58.3 Picks 29-37 Ave games played = 59.5 (Melb picks 29, 31, 36) Picks 38-46 Ave games played = 53.7 (Melb pick 46) Effectively we could have picks 20, 21, 22 and 23 (ave games 56). Statistically at least there seems to be bit of a lucky dip after the first round. Given that we now have a recruiting team who know what they are doing you would we should end up with at least a couple of very handy players. Get excited about tomorrow!! PS. Favourite stat is pick 53 that gave us both Tom and Oscar McDonald (whose combined jumper numbers equals 53) averages ............... wait for it ............. 53 games.
  16. Apparently has the nickname The Ginger Ninja. Should draft him on that alone.
  17. Oh my. I know highlights package and all but that kid has it doesn’t he. Will be stoked if he falls to us. Actually reminded me a bit of Darcy Parish.
  18. That is a rotten draft year. Hurley as the number one retrospective pick doesn’t scream superdraft. Pretty much matches, was it 2003, when we had two picks in the top 5 (Sylvia and McLean). Top picks in a poor draft.
  19. And Juddy
  20. Callum Coleman-Jones. You would actually struggle to make up a more Melbourne name
  21. Love that report. Only the second training session but instead of looking back on the disgrace that was Rnd 23 I’m now starting to look forward to next season. Max Gawn, by the sounds of it, is the first to be confirmed and verified as training the house down. Happy Days.
  22. Obviously I wish all the players but I must admit I am barracking a bit harder for Dec because of your input on here Drunkn. Your call of "He knows his job is on the line" hits home as to the precarious nature of an AFL players career if you aren’t one of the elite. I very much hope Dec will be playing in the 22. Perhaps a Queens Birthday debut!
  23. Woewodin’s brownlow year was handy.
  24. Positives 11 games at the G Only four 6 day breaks and one 5 day
