The whole West Sydney franchise is a farce, and this is just confirming it. Rather than do a proper search and interview process for a good coach they've gone for a name, and from what i heard from Bomber fans when they gave him the flick he is definitely passed it. West Sydney is a doomed venture and the AFL is going to loose millions from it, it just better not come back on clubs like Melbourne.

Ball has a choice, Scully and Trengove don't. If Ball really doesn't want to play for the Dees than they have every reason to question picking him up, i mean why bring someone in who isn't 100% committed? Having said that, if he puts himself out there, be in PSD or the ND, then he is saying he is open slather and will be a professional wherever he goes.
-
I have to admit my feelings are leaning towards us not getting him as well, but i too am not upset about it. As far as i'm concerned we've done well already in the trading period and we'll kick ass in the drafting period, Ball would be a bonus. Nothing more.
-
I voted no, he's an incredible prospect and can seemingly do the unbelievable but IMO he still has a way to go before he can be considered a star. Firstly i don't think it's right to put that kind of pressure on someone that's still so raw, and secondly star players are established and can handle the heat when the other teams place extra pressure on them. With only 9 games under his belt he hasn't been given the best defenders and the right amount of respect, round 1 next year that will change because teams now know what happens if you underestimate him. That said, if he continues down his current path midway next year he will be the talk of the town (and not just because of his incredible journey).

At the end of the day if Ball wants a better go, and most likely a better contract we are his only choice. The only thing that'll be holding him back is that we've got a good 3-4 years before we hit the beginning of our window of opportunity, whereas St Kilda is challenging right now. Whether or not he truly thinks he'll be able to crack the team if the make the grand final is the question. If we get him this could be the greatest drafting/trading period i've ever seen Melbourne do.
-
The only positive i can say is that at least we're not playing the reigning premier on their turf like the last couple of years. Hopefully we can get a win on the board and get a NAB game in Melbourne for the first time in ages!
-
The only difference it would make would be a little added pressure coming into the club, they may feel that Scully is a better prospect/player but they do psychological exams on all the players at the draft camp and they might come to the conclusion that Trengove would handle it better. Especially considering the BS from the media that Watts has had to endure.

Cheers mate, the music is a band called Globus and the song is Preliator. Their songs are adapted from film trailers, obviously why they called the album Epicon. And i'm looking forward to doing the same sort of stuff for the MFC as well! [EDIT] Also can't wait to do it for the next Melbourne Premiership!

Not sure if this article's been put up here yet, but this pretty much exactly how i feel. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/newsart...39/default.aspx

Me too, recorded the Grand Final this year as a tester and made a highlights package for youtube. Personally i think i did a pretty good job, and i'll be doing it more next year with Melbourne games.
-
You expectations are pretty much the same as mine, two years in a row of bottom of the ladder is enough for me it's time we started moving up and i fully expect us to do so.
-
Exactly what did you expect for him given the crap he inherited? As Maric Legend said the real evaluation begins next year when wins become a higher priority, development is still the key but we must be going into every game with the hunger to win. This year the club openly admitted that winning was not the priority, we were trying players in weird positions and giving games to kids over players that might've been in better form. I've like what i've seen so far, and i think he has the ability to get us to the last day in September and eventually the flag, but whether or not that happens........

His stupid comments just keep coming. I loved Robbo, but jeez he is really starting to annoy me. He is doing himself absolutely no favours by making comments like this, concentrate on selling your playing ability, no one likes a sook and that's exactly how he's coming across. Yze was most definitely done at Melbourne, White was serviceable but nothing special and we needed to think for the future, and we are in an excellent position to keep Davey both financially AND given the fact that we have no. 1 pick in the PSD. Try shutting your yapper for just a week, see if it's possible.

I might get shouted down for this, and i stress that i am confident the club will retain Davey, but if there is a situation where he wants to leave we really need to have a good look at Bailey. Now i'm a fan of his, have been from the moment he set foot in the place, but if Davey walks then questions need to be asked about Bailey's methods with the boys because it doesn't matter how good you are tactically or development wise, if you don't have the players on your side what good are you? I stress again that this is if Davey is asked to be traded, i am taking all this talk with a grain of salt, and i'm still reeling from the news that Chooka is leaving (and the fact that he's gone to Carlton makes it that much worse). FWIW i don't think Davey would want to leave, he's been handed the role of leader of the Indigenous boys at the club, he's been acting as a mentor and friend to Jurrah and Aussie, both whom have from very difficult circumstances, and IMO he will be given the captain next year and more importantly the reigns as we make our rise the ladder and eventually challenge for the premiership. If it comes down to it, do what you have to retain him Melbourne, he is too important to let go. And just a quick hypothetical to finish off, just say he does decide to leave we can say," fine walk out, we'll just pick you up in the PSD" can't we? Because that is an option, albeit not the greatest.

I absolutely hate the bloke. Every comment he makes is like nails on a chalk board to me, and all to often they are stupid comments that are proven wrong or challenged by the more astute special comments guys. I hate Carlton as well, and was thoroughly pleased when the Lions ran over the top of them.

1. Davey 2. Beamer 3. Sylvia 4. Bruce 5. Junior

If we were as arrogant as Carlton...

The best player does not necessarily make the best captain, not saying Davey wouldn't but when i watch the players out there the guy that always fly's the flag in an inspirational way is Moloney. He understands where the club has been and knows where he wants it to be. And as for his ability, he will go very close to B&F this year and i rate him as our best inside player at the club. It's Beamer then Davey for me in the captaincy race, and i feel the change should happen for 2010.
-
The one against St Kilda was a joke (in a good way!), the thing that got me was that he wasn't even backed into a corner and forced to do it, he just let his instincts tell him to do it! I was in shock!
-
If we're going to change his number then personally i feel 13 is a better fit, with Robbo leaving the club i sort of feel we should either give his number to a new guy or retire it for a year.
-
You just never know what he's going to do next, and that unpredictability will be great to market to. I mean WTF can you do about his goal today, he wasn't even looking in the right direction! We've only seen the start of the Walpiri Wizard!

Lets Celebrate Departing Demons on Sunday at the G

I'm definitely going to be there, switched a double time shift so i could. Robbo deserves a standing ovation from every Melbourne fan, he has been a fantastic servant of the club. -
The Grand Old Flag - 150 Years of the Melbourne Football Club
Pates replied to LeBron James's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't know if they put it on to DVD but Hotter than Hell 1998 season highlights is a good one to watch. Seeing the likes of Lyon, Schwartz, Neitz, and Farmer in the same forward makes you realise how blessed we were during that time (forward line wise). -
For a long time he was my favourite player for the club, i admired the way he went about his footy and his guts to keep coming back after soft tissue injuries. In a sick way it's almost fitting that he bows out this way, but for him to be left stranded on 149 is wrong in so many ways. I'm really going to miss watching him play, but his legacy will continue through Davey, there is no doubt how much of an influence on his career. Farewell Wheels, you will always be welcome back at the MFC.

I was listening on SEN and i was surprised to hear how many people criticised him for what he said and how he did it on TV. But i think had Ch9 left it without the hammy music it would've felt real, with the music it felt like a speech from a cheesy Hollywood sports movie. Personally i was moved by his words, and i think he was sincere in everything he said. This is usually something that is said behind closed doors, i'm glad we were given a chance to see him farewell the club that has been his home for so long in his own special way. Makes me miss him already!
