Admittedly tingling a little with anticipation. The Demons are pound for pound, man for man the better team. Providing we arrive ready to play, the result should in our favour. Port will provide a challenge of course, if the GPS is switched on.

No longer a regular beer drinker myself but Coopers Sparkling Ale and Original Pale Ale are surely two of the better beers available on the mainland. Or were?

6 Jack Viney 5 Christian Petracca 4 Trent Rivers 3 Clayton Olivier 2 Alex Neal-Bullen 1 Angus Brayshaw Honourable mentions; Harrison Petty Steven May Michael Hibberd Edward Langdon Max Gawn From the Director's Chair; The Harrison Petty experiment is beginning to bear fruit as a tall forward. Looked more assured and delivered until his early injury exit. Lapses in centre bounce clearances, given our purported midfield ranking gave the opposition belief. Goody and Yze will need to be burning the midnight oil on this one. Adjudication; No real complaints. Broadcast; Chief held up with a superior support staff. Just.

joeboy as a body of work your 3 word player analysis at the core is pretty spot on. But the path to transcendence is not always whole or smooth. Just the ocassional ragged edge to tuck in. Neil-Bullen -just a game ? or Neil-Bullen - significant team contributor ( 6 tackles, equal team highest), (17 disposals at 76.5% efficiency), (including one goal scored).

Get out the pop corn for the Saturday's late matinee at the 'G folks... As free as the grass grows at the 'G Born free to follow your heart's desire As free kicks may blow your way As the grandstand surrounds you The game still astounds you Each time you look like a star Stay free Where no AFL tribunal derides you You're free as a rising star so there's no need to bide time Born free Seasons in the Sun are worth living But only worth for giving Cos you're born free

As a number of folk have already commented. Long took on Kozzie who legally tackled him in possession of the ball. He had prior opportunity, was caught red handed, textbook holding the ball. Umpire fails to correctly apply the rule and decides to ‘neutralise’ the situation by balling up. Absolute dunce disadvantages Demons. Fast forward to final 20 seconds of the last quarter Chol athletically assisted by the ‘shove’ from Max is now able to leap tall buildings with a single bound. Gawn is either Superman running around in Demon footy jumper. Or Chol is a ‘ham’ actor who overcooked his lines. I’ll take mine with pineapple and cheese. Those media giants Dunstall and Russell can have the rough end.

Apparently he was a handful around the packs on Saturday evening.

6 Jack Viney 5 Clayton Olivier 4 Max Gawn 3 Tom Sparrow 2 Christian Petracca 1 Angus Brayshaw Honourable mentions; Trent Rivers Jake Bowey Judd McVee Kysaiah Pickett James Jordan From the Director's chair; Daniel Turner must have run over the team mascot. Keeps getting thrown to wolves. Debut game last year's Queen's Birthday concussed by a rampaging Chubb safe. Late inclusion for this game. He gets locked in the gorilla's cage with Levi Casboult. Poor bloke must be thinking 'third time lucky', "maybe I'll get an opponent where I can successfully compete given my experience and physical abilities." Opposition Hyperbole watch; Gold Coast Suns have some top draft picks. Lukosius has a nice accurate long goal kick, flashes in and out of the play. Rowell scurries around the pack like hyperactive sunburnt crab, but seems lost outside his environment. Anderson moves well and certainly gets a lot of the ball without too much menace. Ben King would hardly register a blip today, except he was given free kicks which enabled him to kick two goals. Seem like a bunch of nice boys. Adjudication; The bounce is dead. Broadcasters; Dunstall and Russell pension them off.

joeboy your 3 word player analysis is most anticipated up here in the far flung regions of the realm. A little like the old Sporting Globe at the local newsagents when you got home from the 'G on Saturday evening. Especially after a closely fought win. May we urge you to continue the good work! So pleased you stuck a few little gems in to heighten interest and awareness. Rivers - good and evil Had to work very hard after that smothered kick resulted in a late Suns goal. Brayshaw - spirit and conviction Doesn't get better than that, a truly on the road to Damascus moment. Would love to add this one... Gawn - At Witts end

Casboult is an experienced physically mature forward must have 15kg+, strength and height on Turner. Sold the poor bloke to the wolves. Whoever decided on that match up should severely self-flagellate themselves behind the shelter shed. Absolute Howler! The penny did belatedly drop, Petty went back and can stay there. Maysie needs help. Desperately.

Did exactly the same near the end of the third quarter 15 seconds to go. Suns consequently scored equaliser. Give it to Bowser.
-
Has the BS kickout to the left back flank been permanently canned? Should be 50% chance of coming straight back.
-
Suns knowledge of the prevailing conditions must be worth something. As opposed to Casey, plently of endeavour, but the finishing is below par.

Given there’s the odd BBQ and a coronation somewhere? An interesting pairing here on Smithies VFL. One guy sounds like he called the dogs last night. The other ‘gentleman’ sounds like he just missed on the gig at Westminister Abbey, has the BBC plummy rounded vowels happening. Probably on standby for the ABC weather over the weekend.

Congratulations. Steven May, comes across as a decent bloke without pretensions and is articulate and engaging to boot. Well done!

Sublime foot skills with the Sherrin. Worthy of an All-Ireland Championship Final. Leaves the gibberish around some of the the weekly declarations of 'goal of the year' in the dust.

Obviously the completion is going south. After the cumbersome additions of the 19th and 20th teams, some clear thinking individuals with foresight (“look through the looking glass Alice”) may decide to maximise the league to 12 teams. Giving the best players the opportunity to compete in competitive teams. Socialism and mammon are not easy partners.
-
Agree. Been up here over 20 years (must be troppo!). Pray for a good dry season every year with some cooler southern influence. Only liveable time of the year. Born and bred in Melbourne of course. Would l go back there to live? Never! Too bloody cold and crowded.

6. Christian Petracca 5. Clayton Olivier 4. Kade Chandler 3. Brodie Grundy 2. Angus Brayshaw 1. Tom Sparrow Honourable mentions; Bayley Fritsch Max Gawn Edward Langdon Alex Neal-Bullen Kysaiah Pickett Trent Rivers Jack Viney Steven May From the Director's chair; Will be seeking a new labour hire company. As the 'extras' were clearly not up to it. Witches hats will be painted bright orange in future. Opposition hyperbole watch; Swab the whole North Melbourne side. A bunch of imposters dreaming they were of AFL standard. Adjudication; Old habits die hard. Typically Razor pulled his celebrity umpire stunt, thinking he was the entertainment. Media; On a slow uneventful Saturday night, Carlton was the big news.
