Well somebody’s got to own it…

Those advocating a radical change of direction may be right after the notoriety of “the double” (straight set finals exits). But be careful not to throw out the ‘baby’ with the bathwater.

Congratulations Axis of Bob, a pleasure to read a well thought out and logical post. The current vogue for reams of often dubious data accompanied by near meaningless psycho-footy babble, needs some serious backwash. James Harmes’s diagonal foot pass to Bayley Fritisch in the 2021 GF. Rightly deserves legendary status as one quality kick to premiership glory. Efficacy with efficiency seamlessly.

Deakyn Smith. Must feel confused, a multi-award winning exit with recognition at both Casey and MFC. IMO has shown he has AFL attributes. Deserves an opportunity elsewhere. It’s a hard game.

Given the demographic of the Woods premiership team, still a glimmer of opportunity out there for Jake to fulfill his AFL dream. Will be cheering him on.

Referring to Simon v Garfunkel 1969 (visually) "Still, a man sees what he wants to see. And disregards the rest." Appreciate the reference to Edward Tufte, but the AFL graphic is not in the same football park or within a bull's roar of Minard's Carte Figurative. Nebulous comes to mind, I'll stick to sculpture.

So you're prepared to put the ruler thru Euler? My understanding a graph should communicate a summary of the information (data) succinctly and simply as possible. Allowing the reader to ideally correctly interpret the 'data' with relative ease. Pleased you've been able to glean some useful information from the 'graph' but to my eye the boys and girls at Champion Data or whoever put the graph together moonlight at Bernard's in Elizabeth Street. old55 your moniker suggests 'old school' so I'm going to cut you some slack... the horizontal or x axis is the independent variable or time. The vertical or y axis is the dependent variable ? (wave a magic wand over that).

If this is the future of an enjoyable day at the footy good luck. Just about need a pHD in graphical analysis to begin to make any sense of it. Where to begin? The y axis (vertical) is ... and the x axis (horizontal) is… Parabolic curves, independent, dependent and controlled variables and outliers. Lines of best fit, plot points... Think of all the homework required.

SCC will suit JJ, expect his field kicking to immediately gain penetration. Lovely if the Swans repay the meat and potato largesse, (throw in Brody Grundy as steak knives). With one of their plethora of up and coming young tall forwards.

Score sheet from the night has Gawn 5 goals. It was a remarkable performance from a 2.08 m ruckman. One goal was due to a handball receive from the centre bounce. One goal after Max marked within the 50 metre arc played on and kicked it around the corner from CHF. One goal when Max received a free kick from about 20 metres in front of goal. One goal from deep in the forward pocket where Max took the ball from a boundary throw in. One goal from a mark close to goal. It was the best performance l can recall from a ruckman in the forward line. Amongst a decreasing number of options up forward l’d expect this scenario to be considered by the FD.

In big Finals there has on occasion been unexpected selection/positional moves which have blindsided the opposition. (BMT of course!) Jack Mueller’s recall in ‘48 is the stuff of football legend. Max has goal kicking form in finals, who could forget the ‘21 Preliminary final where he gave the sCats five of the best?

Any spare Redheads lying around? Expected Josh the ‘Shack’ to burn the house down in the scratch match. Given he’s last tall forward available.

Maynard must get at least four weeks
Tarax Club replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Firstly l’m wishing Angus Brayshaw a speedy and hopefully a complete recovery. Secondly a fair and just outcome in the post-tribunal wash up. If the AFL hierarchy are truly committed to minimising the impact of concussion accidentally, unintentionally or otherwise. Here is an opportunity for the AFL to act with authority and integrity by sending a clear signal competition wide. Subsequently there must be an appropriate consequence given. To do otherwise would be a failure of responsibility. -
Brayshaw - unmercifully cleaned up Neal - Bullen - joeboy book specsavers

Beyond frustrating, played like merde yet the game was so tantalising close. Two decent kicks for goal was all that was needed, had enough opportunities last quarter to sink a ship thrice over. Line in the MCG turf. Not doing straight sets.

Staunched the bleeding get up off the canvas. Give these bullies some back with interest.

Front Bar tonight… Mick Molloy “ Blues will go deep into the finals this year” Asked how far “quarter time this Friday” Eddie, Tony Shaw Peter and Nick Daicos in the Collingwood box… on field footage Demons absolutely torching the pies 🔥
