  1. “Patience grasshoppers, it's still cricket season.”
  2. Six another ripper production. This time with an infectious and (very apt) south of the border dance beat. Fortunately Fidel is passé, as a basement ‘debrief’ at Casey is not an enticing prospect.
  3. On a cheerful note on this otherwise gloomy morning. Any folk walking their dogs around a cyclone fence at a distant suburban ground this morning?
  4. Judd McVee’s debut season is the exception rather than the rule. Running my ruler along the line rather than through it, to add the millimetre perfect hyphen. In the tradition of Audley Gillespie-Jones, Ivor Warne- Smith, Trent Ormond-Allen, Jay Kennedy-Harris and Alex Neal-Bullen my nomination is Andy Moniz-Wakefield the local lad. Admittedly some wide degrees of auspiciousness on that list. From just about absolute bust to double Brown-Low divinity. But a debut and some on going opportunity would be terrific for AMZ. A young man with a 🔥 desire to succeed.
  5. Absolutely not resiling from Steven May’s line in the MCG turf. The Demons are the ‘better team and should have smoked them’ period. Pessimists, doubters and detractors don’t bother showing up. Those up for the ride, saddle up this side is bound for glory. After near six decades in the doldrums one premiership ain’t enough for this core list. With the exception of Michael Hibberd who has been lost? Last season’s trade and high draft additions must stoke the Demon furnace. Media, league administrators, ‘competitors’ and assorted hangers on take note we’re not going away anytime soon.
  6. Going a glass half full here. Baileys? Pleased the Club has stuck fat with this bloke. His performance for Casey v vfl sCats at Kardinia Park round 16 2022 sticks in my memory, as it was match winning IMHO . In less than optimum conditions his ball handling and delivery by hand or foot was self-assured and influential. Young Laurie should bottle it, because that’s what he needs to succeed.
  7. As the “Tap Brothers” experiment fades from the memory of vigorous maturity to terminal senescence, all within one season. The current membership of the ‘Winger’s Club’ may well come under greater scrutiny. Where greater dynamism is sought after by team performance managers. As the previous poster rightly alludes to, both first choice candidates have taken Everest at earlier stages of their careers and appear to be descending from that lofty peak. Not without saying, both Langdon and Hunter played manfully and provided solid options on the wings during the season. Time and opposition counter measures could be taking their toll. Ed Langdon probably still has the ‘tank’ but seems to be rested more and is not getting as involved as frequently in possession chains, forward entries and goal scoring as before. Whereas Luke Beveridge could be a more astute judge of a player than many give him credit for. To my eye the younger Hunter found space more readily and had greater depth with his kicking. Next season will be an interesting watch. With potential young guns like Caleb Windsor and Blake Howes, positioning themselves for a debut and more opportunity.
  8. Should it not be a light globe💡?
  9. If the Younger Brown weighs in at 71kg. Andy Moniz-Wakefield is at least a couple of divisions north nearer 80kg. Looks capable of forward pocket with some on ball rotations IMHO.
  10. The big speccy on the goal line? Flash in the pan. A two handed shove out on Bowser’s shoulders. Great for the crowd and television audience but not in the spirit of the rules. But as we know karma kicked in massively and put Jojo and the rest on their arses.
  11. Question the provided AMW body mass of 71kg after two years in the senior gym? He’s got the body right looking fit now. An intriguing prospect has shown flashes of X factor, so the talent is there. A wiser man would say work on the consistency of your performance and opportunity comes your way.
  12. In case of emergency. Break the glass. Turn on the jets! HERALD SUN LATE BREAKING NEWS DEMONS HAVE PERFORMED HEIST OF THE OFF SEASON BY APPOINTING THIS BLOKE Possible roles for the new appointee within the club are thought to include; Motivational speaker, forward strategist, goal kicking guru, tactical substitute committee chairperson, moonboot studder, orange boy.
  13. Agree B-B-P that was Disco’s best performance at senior level. Got the attention of some of the Ch7 commentators too.
  14. An astute addition to the senior list. Shown plenty of ability at VFL level, the challenge of course is to produce at AFL level. Some extended opportunity there will indubitably assist that transition.
  15. Can see Tommy salivating. There’s a vegan option of course?
  16. Deever going to upgrade that to Jefferson Starship the Weid has Gawn but the mullet is back!
  17. Picket we’re wondering if you observed these ‘boys’ training on your recent ‘voyage’ ? Rumours ‘suggest’ they are cognisant with the latest version of the revised game plan for next season.
  18. Old 6 whether you’re the beneficiary of a press pass or you’ve hit the sweet spot and shooting with some very nice teleglass. The resulting pictures capture the action moments fluidly. Cheers!
  19. Cheers PM for your recall of the Fidge-Millane incident. Round 10 1988 At the Waverly Colosseum. A hard fought win against a rampant Collingwood outfit. Remains in my memory as being one the best footy 'contests' I witnessed at Artic Park. Certainly warmed up with the Fidge-Millane square-off. Always had the impression Ted was the retaliator and Millane had been the initiator. The Faux enforcer picked the wrong bloke that day. Ted used to work out on the weights, he carried in his plumber's van at lunchtime. It was not a 'king hit' as both men were facing each other. Brian 'Willo' Wilson starred that day and led the Demons' comeback to record a resounding victory and most likely earned 3 Brownlow votes when it still meant something.
  20. GNS pleased to read about that. John played some good footy for the Demons. Originally hailed from the St Peter’s Football Club in the old ‘hood.
  21. Yes had a clear view of the punch that sent Millane to the canvas. Ted won the stoush by a TKO. Millane managed to stand up on very rubbery legs and left the field visibly concussed. John Northey was not impressed it was the last game Ted played. Recall news of John Fidge, Ted’s more talented younger brother as having some health problems post his footy career too. Wish Ted and his family some satisfactory resolution in dealing with the impact on his health from concussion. Would be a very positive step forward for the AFL to take meaningful action and accept appropriate responsibility for those former players affected by this affliction
  22. No blueblood Demon dynasty in my family affiliations l’m afraid. Reason l’m a Dees supporter is probably due to Dr Don Cordner, giving a group of young neophyte nurses tickets to attend the footy at the ‘G. My mother was training to be a nurse at the Royal Women’s Hospital Melbourne at the time and was a recipient of of Don Cordner’s largesse. Fast forward to the Ronald Dale’s appearances on the Tarax Show live at the Channel 9 Studio in Richmond. Although the only time l saw him play was at Princess Park, my Dad was a Blues supporter. Of my three daughters only the youngest is a true red and blue Demon. But we both enjoyed the pleasurable catharsis from MFCSS by attending the 2021 Grand Final together.
  23. “Us and Them” from Dark Side of the Moon. Dick or more formally ‘Richard’ Parry (to pass muster here) blowing up a storm.
