  1. Frankly, this is just dumb posting
  2. The other thing about the venue is that in reality we are not much more likely to win at say the scg than the gabba. Its not like the option is the gabba v the mcg
  3. And two weeks in qld now would be a good break from cold weather and covid
  4. Play it at the gabba. Dees members, of which there are many up there get first crack. Then just general admission. So neutrals will come- and there will be heaps of ex vic footy fans who will up for seeing one of tbe best games of the season. So it might only be 50% lions fans. Full house. Friday night. The big light show and big game buzz. Channel 7 love it. Our sponsors love it. The team love it. All coin goes to us. Maybe 700k. The ground suits us perfectly. It is short and their forwards will have zero space. And we can trap it in our forward half. Our clean centre clearances will go 20 metres from goal. Their scrappy centre clearances will go 40 metres from goal into tbe lever zone. We will win. And make one hell of a statement. And a heap of moolah. Stay at our tweed heads qld base and play pies at the gabba too. Maybe Monday night football on the queen's birthday. Big TV ratings. Better than a Monday arvo. Plenty of pies fans up there so we will get an ok crowd again A bye the following week Can plan the mini hub perfectly. Do a mid season reset and mini camp. Bring all the players up at some point if possible. Move our gws home game to the Alice later in the year so we get that 700k. Do it dees
  5. Coaches the blues doesn't he? I know he had the blues.
  6. I reckon this is a really good point. Which is one reason why I thought the no crowd might help us. People will underestimate the value of the win because there wasn't the big crowd buzz The dees have long been the but of jokes. And our game plan and model means of our games are often arm wrestles and ate not flashy. And it is harder to appreciate good defensive systems than strong offensive ones - particularly on tv We get a buffer and squeeze teams., unlike the dogs who look so exciting when they get on top. Happy to fly under the radar. Whichbis no mean feat at 10-1 and 4 points clear on top of the ladder.
  7. For anyone who has kayo and wants a little more dees fix i highly recommend the kayo mini for the game. Not sure why, but the volyme of the commentary is way down compared to the full replay and the on ground sounds way up. Its really interesting to hear the players and boy the hits sound big.
  8. Sure nev, if you want to just read stats and not trust what your eyes tell you. And in my opinion brown's swans game was far superior to anything weed has dished up this season. But it us ok if we disagree about that. I can't speak for others but I'm not judgint him against unrealistic expectations. He is top 10 draft pick who should be delivering by this stage in his career. And he isn't. Should he be dominating? Not every match, sure. But the occasional one yes. That's why we gave up a top 10 pick. His peers are Naughton, Oscar Allen, Marshall. I want to se tbat level of output. And I want to see it now. He's had enough time. Time to deliver.
  9. Sure. But 3 games ago is ok isn't it? Brown well against the swans and was an important factor in our win with key goals, strong marks and big aerial contests. He imposed himself on the game Facts are that nothing weed has done since coming in had been at that level. He hadn't imposed himself at all. And of his 40 odd games I reckon I could count on one hand games has. So his 'merit', such as it is all on potential. But let's leave it nev Weed is in. And will likely stay in this week The coaches agree with you. So your case is strong I sincerely hope he imposes himself against the lions and really puts it all together.
  10. Sure. But there is a lot more to forward half pressure than tackles
  11. Fair comments. And to be honest much of my frustration with weed is how talented he is. Which why I think a comparison to naughton is fair. He has the tools. And I really hope he fulfills his talent. A good start would be upping his intensity. Jogging after opponents is a bad look.
  12. Nuance is ok nev. Everything doesn't have to be black and white. It is ok for me to introduce a discussion about weed comparing poorly to naughton. Even if, shock horror, it is in posts related to a discussion of brown v weed. Fell free not engage in said discussion. And on black and white and things that are strange i find comments such ad this one perplexing: 'On merit, Weid should be in ahead of Brown atm' You say that as if it is fact. Its your opinion. Not fact. A number of posters thought weed should have been dropped not Brown. Not unreasonable given how poor he has been in the ladt two games. And you seem to be putting a lot of stock in the Brown's case game. Maybe their were mitigating circumstances. Maybe he was carrying an injury. Maybe the coaches told him to hold back in case he needed to be called up for the ones. Maybe he struggled to combine with mitch. Who knows. Look, I agree he is unlikely to replace weed this week. But as I said in my first post on this topic I think Brown is a better footballer than weed and I'd prefer him in tbe side than weed. And he compares pretty favourable to naughton too. Last year was a write off. But he has numbers that weed can only dream of. In the 2017, 2018 and 2019 home and away seasons Brown finished 3rd, 2nd and 2nd in the Coleman medal and kicked a combined total of 188 goals across 66 games, the most of any player in the AFL over that time period. Bit of merit right there.
  13. True. Weed has zero chance to be named AA full forward this season. Or taking Naughton's spot in the 40 man squad for that matter.
  14. I reckon hibberd will get him. Seems to be their go to player now to lock down dangerous small and mediums. Took Martin, papley and betts. Can go with Cameron.
  15. I was being facetious. I meant Brown's Casey game. As I said in a previous post I think they wedged themselves They are not going to bring Brown in but I think he shouldn't have gone out in rbe first place. But to he honest I find both players a bit underwhelming and wonder if DeeSpencer might be on the money and come finals we revert to our rounds 1-5 set up. Weed should be compared to naughton, not brown. That's the level he should be at. Both the same height. Both drafted at 9. Same position. Naughton is miles ahead https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=12&pid1=4171&fid1=S&playerStatus2=A&tid2=8&pid2=6491&fid2=S&type=A Sam is two years older and so is running out of excuses for all those game he 'nearly' starts clunking his marks or kicking goals.
  16. There's a bit of a contradiction there smokey. For all we know, brown did exactly what was asked of him by the coaches.
  17. Pretty clearly edged him? Based on those stats? One, those stats are basically the same. Two, as you know stats are just stats. They only tell part of the story. Watching the game I thought Brown had more impact. In large part because he drew more defenders to him, creating more opportunities for the smalls. But as you say, let's agree to disagree. And the coaches agree with you so you have a good case.
  18. Speaking of clash jumpers, the pies and cats jumpers looked incredibly similar today
  19. Call me crazy, but if it can't be played at tbe Alice and we get the gate I reckon we should pick the gabba. It would be a bold move. A statement. Anyone. Any where. Any time. We play ok there. Know it well after last year. And would get to play in front of a packed house. Good practice for finals. And as a home game all the qld demon fans could go, so it wouldn't be a totally lions crowd. Would have a much, much better vibe than bloody giants stadium with 33 people there.
  20. You live in Alice don't you rgrs? I'm assuming its a pretty important match for the nt government in terms of promoting tourism. Particularly now that people can't travel overseas. A genuine Friday night blockbuster. Massive ratings. The best bang for bucks of any of these matches. And it would be a big hit for the local economy. A friend looked at accommodation with thought of flying up. Completely full. The dees are in iso all week and will have daily tests probably. Could fly in on Friday morning and book a hotel area and be isolated. Then bus to the game. Flt out next day. What's the sense about the likelihood of it going ahead? Or how keen the government is for it to?
  21. Agree with the first paragraph. Not the second. Brown was the incumbent. Both were average against the blues, but if anything Brown was better. So in my view deserved to retain his spot. Obviously the selectors don't agree, so who am I to say. I agree in a general sense with your comments about not needing every forward to be a pressure freak. And that is not what I expect of weed. But for mine he simply doesn't play with enough intensity and spends too much time at half pace But his benchmark should be tmac. Late in a quarter (can't recall which maybe the third?) tmac flat out sprinted for 200 metres to apply some pressure to a dogs plsyer running free through the centre square. Didn't quite get there but put enough pressure on for the kick inside 50 to be shanked. And we got an intercept mark. Even it hadn't caused a turnover the effort was inspiring. They will show that vision to the team. To be fair to weed they will also show his great run down tackle late in the second. But they will also show weed in his review of his half arsed effort near the start of tbe last 'chasing" durea at hb. Look at the vision at about 18:30. Jogged, where if he had been intense and really focused he would have been able to lay a tackle - or at least been able to disrupt the kick. He lucked out because the kick inside 50 was poor and didn't vmcost tbe goal it should have. A goal that might have given them a sniff. Simply not good enough. And strange from a player fighting for his spot in the team.
  22. A couple of things nev. I meant it is woeful that both of our key forwards apply poor levels of pressure. They both concern me. And I understand your point about competition for spots, but by the very same logic it was a strange decision to drop Brown not weed for the crows game. Brown was picked first on form. And both had almost identical stats and impact (which was not great) against the blues. So why drop Brown? I suspect it was to give weed a run at afl level. And have a look at the set up with him as the go to forward. I'm not advocating Brown come in. But they wedged themselves a bit. And bottom line Brown is a better footballer. Takes his marks. Is stronger in the contest. Is a harder match up that demands more defensive coverage. And is a proven goal kicker. Brown has the runs on the board. Weed doesn't. Because neither apply enough pressure you can't have both in the same team. And without question Id have Brown over weed.
