WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Yeah, I guess I see it differently. I have a lot of sympathy for the players. We all know what footy clubs are like, you are expected to trust the coach, believe what he says and do what you're told. I can't help but feel that kind of pressure tipped most players into not asking questions and towing the line, even more so if they felt their careers were on the line. I don't believe the players willingly cheated and were duped into it by the coach and whichever admin staff knew what was actually happening.

So out of curiosity, how many of those saying this is now a disastrous trade would have expected pick 25 in a weak draft to be a regular 22 player in their first year? We've got at least 2 experienced AFL people at our club who would have known what went on at Essendon and that Melksham would likely miss a year, so not sure why everyone is acting like we were blindsided by this. Although those people are probably the same ones who were bagging out Mahoney at the start of the trade period without realizing there was a bigger picture.

Not the specific incident, but it's common knowledge certain players are targeted as part of tactics, Watts obviously was that day.

Interpretation is funny isn't it? How often has the above been used as an insult against a player...

Sorry, to clarify, that wasn't intended as a counter to what you said, rather just a continuation of the conversation.

We have a plan. We didn't trade up to pick 3 and give away next year's first rounder just to be seen to be doing something. Either 3 or 7 will be a KPF, and wouldn't surprise me if it's pick 3.

There is 0 chance we'll take two mids. It's obvious to every footy watcher Hogan needs quality support, and Taylor, Mahoney & Viney have all talked about how we're building the list to be a group that comes through together. Currently our key forward options (aside from Hogan) are: Dawes - tries his guts out, body keeps letting him down Pedo - Not best 22, will be 29 when next season starts and will struggle with the new interchange rules Frost - Clearly not a forward, will play back TMac - We're not going anywhere if we experiment with him forward again Dunn - Has been better in defence, also turns 29 early in the season Garland - Been done, experiment worked once King - Not ready, might not ever be We will be taking a key forward with one of those top 10 picks. It's a certainty.

I think some are thinking Parish is an outside player because he has good skills. He's a tough ball winner as well. I know some Dees fans are a bit wary due to "skinny skillful" players we've taken in the past, but Parish is a different type to those. And yeah, I'm the same with late bolters. I think we get sick of talking about the same players so every year a few names pop up late to keep the interest up.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Or a Viney, Brayshaw, Jones, vandenBerg... That's why I'm leaning towards Parish seeing the only similar-ish ones we have are Vince (who's 31 next year) and Tyson (who I'm backing to step up, but hasn't made as big an impact as we would have liked).- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Scully maybe, but completely different build to Toumpas and Gysberts.- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
"If Weideman can run close to level 13 in the beep test today clubs believe it would quell fears he has “red zone” endurance. Weideman was in Eastern Ranges’ top-five runners as a 16-year-old before suffering an iron deficiency and ankle problems." http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-draft-2015-sam-weideman-to-undergo-aflsupervised-testing-essendon-eyeing-clayton-oliver-ryan-burton/news-story/17d4412f18dba0cdba3ce5baf7543afd- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
But what if it's more of an impact of the iron deficiency he's had for a couple of years (before the ankle injury)?- WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
Not sure I see the point in that...- Darcy Parish

What, you're editing people's posts when you quote them now? That's a whole new level. Ah well, two can play at that I guess...- Darcy Parish

Fair enough then. It's funny, this year has been the first in ages here I haven't followed potential draftees and mock drafts etc really closely due to my renewed faith in the recruiting staff. Who would your top 10 be PD? - WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
