As I said, just comes across like you rate your opinion far higher than people who you've admitted know more than you. Take it on board, don't take it on board... Up to you.

Fair enough. Just comes across like you're putting down all these people's opinions, people who know far more than us, without providing any reasoning for it.

And nor should you, but she knows far more about the potential draftees than you and I.

Please, someone else explain to this guy what the point is. I'm done trying.

That was my whole point WYL. Now, do you think those priests would be considered good true Catholics? I'm going to leave it at that mate. Have a good day.

You've read the bible right? It's not exactly all cheesy songs and bake sales...
  8. stuie replied to Redleg's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
No, they don't. Not sure how many more times I have to say this... Saying you're doing something doesn't mean you are. I'm writing this right now in the name of Buddha. Hmmm does that make it actually true? Did Hitler kill in the name of God? (He was basically a Catholic) Do the KKK lynch in the name of Christianity? Do the Americans attack pretty much whoever they want in the name of God? Do Catholic priests molest children in the name of Jesus? Grasp the concept that these terrorists are in fact blasphemists to their own religion because their ACTIONS go against the actual BELIEFS that they claim to follow.

You are this time my friend. For a while I actually thought you wouldn't have an antiquated view, that's the only thing I was wrong about.
  10. stuie replied to Redleg's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
    No, they're not.

Totally agree it's mind control. I don't believe however is that it's actual Islamic mind control in it's truest form. These terrorist organizations target very young boys and indoctrinate them in hate under the guise of it being Islam. It's sad that in this day and age there are still deaths over religious differences, some of which are only separated by who actually said what. An important fact to note though is that more Muslims have died from "Islamic" terrorism than any other race or religion. What a mess.

Yeah look I'm not defending Islam as a religion, I don't think it's better or worse than any other religion. I just think it's unfair to call these terrorists "Muslims" when they don't actually subscribe to the beliefs of Islam, which has been spoken about at length by Muslim teachers and leaders. One way to guarantee some kind of "religious war" is to keep classifying actions under religious banners rather than recognize these people as simply terrorists and then fight against terrorism in all it's forms.

Muslim leaders today have condemned the attacks, calling the people involved "devils" and "evil" and reiterating that Islam does not condone murder in any circumstance. Saying you are something does not make you that thing. It's not a complicated point to understand. You are what you do, not what you say. I could go around saying I'm the full forward of the century, doesn't mean I am does it?

I'm not saying spend years doing it, and there is no religion I believe in, all I'm saying is it's always better to have some understanding of what you're demeaning, as opposed to saying "I already know it's a story of cloud dairies"... Maybe you already have done that, and that's your final outcome, and that's totally fine. I respect whatever you choose to believe or not believe, but don't think that aggressive Atheism isn't as much of a set of beliefs and mind control as any religion is.

You're still not getting it. Not sure if you're doing it on purpose or you really are just that thick. There's a difference between sinning and doing something in the name of Christianity that contradicts it's beliefs. If I'm not adhering to the beliefs of the ideology I say I'm a part of then I'm not truly a part of that ideology. It's what you do, not what you say.
  16. stuie replied to Redleg's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Exactly. Have a think about that point now, I'm sure it will click at some stage.

Just so you know WYL, I don't believe in anything religious at all. Studying religion was the thing that turned me away from it in all forms. Sometimes it's good to actually learn a bit about things you don't subscribe to and seek to demean. I'd highly recommend it to a fair few here.

If I say I'm a vegetarian and then eat meat, am I actually a vegetarian? That's as simple as I can make it for you.
  19. stuie replied to Redleg's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
No it's not. Read the bible lately? Try reading it from a non-Sunday School mentality and then we can chat again. As someone with a Bachelor Of Theology, I'm pretty happy my opinions are actually thought through, rather than just being the echoes of Hanson and Bolt. Have a good day.

It's as fallible as any other religious text, and contradicts itself as much as any other, but my point is the terrorists groups that align themselves as Islamic are not recognized as such at all by the mainstream and reasonable Muslim community. It's just become a convenient tool of Western culture to brand them as "Muslim extremists" when the reality is they are a terrorist organization. Just the same as IRA attacks weren't put under the umbrella of "Catholic extremism" or KKK lynchings haven't been called "Christian extremism".

About the level I expect from you. You guys are in fine form today.
  22. stuie replied to Redleg's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah because you've really aligned yourself with the intellectuals by showing bigotry toward Islam. Clap clap...
  23. stuie replied to Redleg's post in a topic in Melbourne Demons
I suggest you actually do some kind of reading or show some kind of attempt to understand what you seek to judge. These terrorists are no more Muslim than any murderer in the Western world is Christian. From the Quran: "Whoever harms a dhimmi (any non-Muslim) then I will be his opponent on the day of judgement" Prophet Muhammad
