  1. Would take Harvey or Dal - Daniel Cross did a wonderful job with us - why couldnt one of them? I dont think Petrie is a good step for us because of Weid and Hogan and Spud doesnt seem the right step considering both Browns are on the FA market. I cannot wait to see how this plays out. Part of me wants to see Dal go back to the Saints.
  2. Ok, ok. I know this is a Hibberd thread but I wanted to pick up on this. 2013 included getting Sylvia out for Vince (tick); Bringing across Cross (tick), Dom Tyson (tick), I'll ding him for Riley and Michie but we paid pick 54 for this. In terms of that draft and you are saying Salem is a disappointment. Salem has been injured which is beyond his control and when he has played he has been very valuable. Now - lets crystal ball this and look at who else was taken after him Freeman (no), Sheed (WA boy), Cripps (well would have liked him but no one would have guessed this, everything thought 13 was reaching), McCarthy (WA boy), Jones (Salem's showed more), etc etc. The only one I'd say would be good would have been Matt Crouch at 23 but he is a poor man's Viney. Salem is what we needed and is still very young. Remember JKH started like a house on fire and again injuries have let him down. He's been very good at Casey the past few weeks so lets let the 21 year old have an injury free pre-season. After him was Kolodjashnij, Alir, Byrne-Jones, and Fantasia - all of which have only showed something in the back end of this year. Also nailed Hunt, nailed Harmes, Max King we can say might not work out (Rookie), Georgiou was a bust but played a role in his first year, and the faith in Nev to rookie was paid off. That is more ticks than crosses from 2013 and if Salem and JKH develop he has nailed 2013. 2014 Garlett (tick), Frost (tick), Lumumba (injuries), and then you cannot help but look at this draft and smile. Trac (tick), Brayshaw (tick). Now you can say they picked themselves, but so did Wines. You need to be brave enough to pick the player and not think what could we develop Wright/Lever/Ahern in to. Stretch (tick), McDonald (tick), AVB (tick), White (tick - he has played AFL games as a rookie, that is enough for a tick when you see that most Rookies dont), ANB has played really well in the 2's but hasnt transferred that to the big stage. I believe this is because he is playing out of position in the AFL and in another side where he can play as a midfielder he'll have a greater impact. Time will tell and I'll leave that as open ended. So from this year we'd say that H might have been handled better and ANB could have been Caleb Daniel. Overall that is a great strike rate. 2015 Melksham trade (TBC) but for the record if I had that pick I would have got Kieran Collins or Rhys Mattherson. The next deal which was Howe, Toump, 6, 1st rounder for pick 3, 7, Bugg and Kennedy, is a little harder to gauge. If it is Howe for Bugg - we have lost as Howe is having a better season. Toump for Kennedy - we won that. 3 for 6 means Oliver over Weiderman (I dont see us taking Ah Chee, maybe Curnow if you want another player in here rather than Weid) and Weiderman over this year's pick 8 which according to Knightmare could be Josh Battle which already I think we've won. So you probably say we've come out of top here as the sum of the parts is better. As for the draft Oliver (big tick), Weideman (jury is still out but has all the traits of a very promising footballer), Mitch King (injured), Hulett (too early, but signs are good). In terms of later picks than those too, Wills and Menengola have done well the past month, but they are VFL players. Markov has looked good, and Sam Collins has done well for Freo. Dont think we missed much here though. The upside of our draftees is still there. Rookie draft - Wagner (tick) and Michie has been good in the VFL and played some AFL games. There was nothing else after him that was really worth drafting, maybe Marbior Chol. The big question is that of the 22 that beat Hawthorn, how many are Taylor's: B: Jetta (2013 - R) Frost (2014) Hunt (2013) Bugg (2015) McDonald (2014) M: Petracca (2014), Vince (2013), Tyson (2013), F: Garlett (2014), VDB (2014), Weideman (2015), I: Brayshaw (2014), Oliver (2015), Stretch (2014), Harmes (2013) That is 15/22. For the record, those who werent playing that day it is a 9 - 8 split (senior list) with 8 being Taylor picked. My final point is that we are the youngest most experienced side and until last weekend, the only one's who had a chance to get into finals. Sides that have lists that are badly managed dont get that close to finals that young.
  3. Know its not much but Sam Lansberger of the Sun has him in his 22 under 22 team. He is starting to get noticed by the media (which helps with the nomination), we are just short on weeks. There are a few that havent got a nod yet and while I think that Hunt has the most runs on the board of the players left, he'll need a 20+ disposal game to get there.
  4. On SEN yesterday they were discussing the unfairness of the Academy System and how it has gifted Mills and Heeney. I've also seen on here it is something of a bone of contention amongst demonlanders as well. So wanted to put it out there - we bid on Mills and Heeney, would you take them over our actual draftees, Brayshaw and Oliver? Are they going to go on and have better careers? Are they what we need or are Brayshaw and Oliver the better options? Vote and discuss.
  5. While I do think that Matt Jones deserves another contract, I dont think he comes in this week. Also if Kent pulls up I dont see why we drop him. We need his run, and because he was injured, we missed it. Also going to quickly high horse and say if you were at the game you would have seen the serious miles that Brayshaw ran and the influence he had on contests. No point dropping the Wied. We are not playing for anything but pride and 2017 and he'll hopefully have another 3 games for Casey in the finals. Might as well hone his game against Geelong. In: Trengove - He has had a season of good football at the 2's and against a side which isn't quick, he might be able to come into his own. My worry is about what position he would play. He'd need to be playing out of the square or running up and down the wing. So that would mean leaving Bernie at half back for another week. Garlett - Just needed, even when he isnt playing well. Out: Michie - not enough for my mind. I'd rookie him for another year as he is great depth, but I feel we are asking him to play a position that doesnt suit him. He is a clearance player and he is a long way down that list at the MFC. ANB: He was in for Garlett and now I am taking him out for Garlett. Really feel as if he had a chance in the centre square he'd show us what he has been doing at VFL level. The only other thing I would consider is Grimes for VDB but VDB does have some credits. I just dont think he is adding a lot to the team at the moment. I think Salem needs a run at some football and by bringing him back this week he misses Casey finals. I believe that another 4 games where he is able to work on his fitness is better than one and then resting for September.
  6. Hunt will miss out again this week. Maynard and Phillips from Collingwood should be in the box seat.
  7. 6. Jetta 5. Hunt 4. T Mac 3. Viney - got killed in the first half and worked his way back into it. 2. Tyson - just playing a role each and every week. 1. Hogan - presents and presents and presents.
  8. Jones with leather poisoning 15 at qt. trenners 10, Grimes 7.
  9. Casey Twitter feed is awsome to follow. Whoever is in charge does a great job each week.
  10. Hamish is interesting because of the injury. Would like to draft him in the third round. Oozes leadership and loved around the club. Very professional with his training and generally good skills. Basically as good as Gus was when he was 17 and Gus took the big step the following year. I'd be taking him.
  11. So we assume into the development league this week and see how he goes? I don't know if he'd qualify for Casey finals being an AFL listed player and not playing the right number of games. I guess we shall find out. Looking forward to seeing how he goes on the weekend.
  12. The award is nice. It gives young guys a pat on the back and says well done. You might not turn out to be a superstar or play 100 games but you are having an impact on the game. I bet that Oscar will be focused on training but he'd be celebrating with the parents and brother tonight on the nomination and as he should be. There are about 30 other guys who played this weekend who were eligible to get nominated and he did. Now they dont all turn out to be stars (or play more games) and that is fine. It's like goal of the week - its a nice little recognition, it has a ceremony at the end of the year, and the winner gets to feel good about himself. I cant see a way that one of our boys wins it this year, but I'm very proud that we've had 6 of the last 36 nominations and that all 6 are playing regular senior football. Because at the end of the day, that is all we really want. That all our youngsters are good enough to play best 22 for our club (and we win more than we loose).
  13. And that is why Jacobs is playing 2's....
  14. FoxFooty saying that O Mac should get the nomination this week. Also Devil in the Detail I remember you talking about this and I believe there was someone on SEN who was singing his praises as well pre draft and then once we drafted him. Was it the APS grand final where he just ran over Salem and Kelly and showed how good he was? Kelly has clearly shown he is going to be a champion this year and we all believe that Salem once he gets a run at it will challenge him. If Hunt is 2/3 of the player they become we will be very, very lucky.
  15. North. Some of their kids went alright in Durdin and Hibbard. But yeah, no depth.
  16. Salem said the reason he is playing half forward is to manage his running patterns and build match fitness. He was asked about getting back into the AFL side this year and ignored the question. JkH is an interesting one as he has been more damaging than the rest. Maybe an emergency next week and if an injury comes up but I'd still say ANB and Trenners will be first picked. If JKH wasn't injured this year I wonder if Garlett would have made his way back so easily.
  17. FT Stats Disposals - M.Jones 42, Grimes 41, Neal-Bullen 37, Michie 35, Trengove 30, White 29, Kennedy 27, Kennedy-Harris 26. Goals - Baker 3, Dawes 3, Kennedy-Harris 3, Neal-Bullen 2, Salem 2, White 2, Ferreira, Grimes, Kennedy, Munro, Spencer, Trengove.
  18. BenKen was 19 (I think that was still in the first round that year) and Dawes was 28 (my bad). Although didnt we give up a 1st rounder for him? Anywho, main point was that we have a fair bit of VFL talent.
  19. Baker kicks his third and it is now 104 points. Kennedy kicks a behind on the siren for a 105 point win.
  20. 98 points..... getting very close. Baker and Ferrera goals.
  21. We have a fair bit of depth and we have basically played 16 AFL players every week. If you think about it, today we have 6 first round draft picks playing in Treners, Grimes, Salem, Dawes, Dunn, Kennedy. You dont really see that at VFL level week in week out. Plus in other weeks we've had Oliver, Brayshaw, and Weiderman.
  22. Salem playing at half forward has kicked his second. We are now out to a 92 point lead and the Tigers havent scored this quarter.
  23. Mitch White breaks the shackles, and we have a goal to take us to a 86 point lead.
  24. 4 behinds so far this quarter. Big resounding no change for the Dees next week.
  25. We have dominated possession but cannot hit the scoreboard.
