THE BOMBERS' DOPING SAGA - THE FAT LADY SINGS
monoccular replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in General Discussion
Hird continues as he has throughout this sorry saga ..... woe is me. .... look at me. ..... its all about me ...... egotist, narcissist. And yet Gil, amongst others at AFL HQ seem to think that it is time to forgive and forget. -
Do you have brown paper bags, $$$$$ And Gil’s address? Seems like the CFC way. Can’t see any other reason.
-
Tommy has become a very versatile and strong leader across the field ... well done and keep it up.

You forgot funnel web, red back, white tail arachnids too ?

Correction : you use the word “or” which suggests the two are mutually exclusive traits ? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Put me in the team and I would be consistent - consistently hopelesss. What was the lead up the the remonstrations with Goddard ?. .... was it just that he is the least likeable of all AFL players in my memory (including Boomer Harvey, and that is saying something) or was there something else specific in addition? -
Match Preview and Team Selection - Round 7
monoccular replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great summation of where we are, or in fact where we aren’t. Is it the coach, , is it the players, both, some other outside factor? Certainly it is a sign of lack of mental toughness, a prerequisite for ruthlessness which in turn is a prerequisite for a flag. Hope we can find it but won’t hold my breath. The young forward inclusions from last round certainly offer us more opportunity to find it than those they displaced (Tracc excepted). Go Dees. -

IMO all premierships since say 1964 should be declared null and void -
What a great question, because of their very different styles and totally different contexts. RDB played in, lead and certainly inspired, the greatest and most successful footy team ever whereas Tulip played in and lead, and tried to inspire one of the worst, through no fault of his own. Had Tulip played in the Smith era he no doubt would have been far more widely recognized as an all time great, a multi premiership player and quite possibly a multiple Brownlow medalist. Has RDB run around in the Tulip era teams he would probably still have been acclaimed as a great player in a crap team, without the accolades. So, for me, I will sit on the fence and declare a draw - for skills, Tulip, for grunt, RDB.

Looking at Docklands surface Sunday it would be easy to sweep anything under the grass there. -
And Sparko didn’t out a foot wrong the previous weeks either ?

Yes. I don’t think anything more needs to be, or should be said at this stage, regarding Thompson anyway. -
Until we learn to play four quarters week in, week out, we will not be respected or feared. But we didn’t. Yes. Like Carlton has really earned all these prime time games? Maybe someone needs to go through Gil’s garbage bin looking for empty brown paper Visy bags.

Bailey already shows far more on the ground in terms of pressure, shepherding, handball, snap and set shots, than Howe. Not a one trick pony by any means.

Remember Norf are protected under the Boomer Harvey Snipe Agreement.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO

At least the inane TV commentators won’t be able to say whenever he gets the ball “he comes from a basketball background” ? -
Yes. Did you forget the goal he passed to Hannan?
-
Certainly agree that our forward structure will be hard to man up against - two talls (Hogan TMcD Weed in rotation with the occasional Max) and 4 crumbers three of whom can grab a mark as well (Milk, Hannan, Fritsch) and Spargo (maybe Jeffy if can find form and enthusiasm at Casey). Difficult to match. PS forgot about DogFood (CP5).

Welcome Johnnie Walker (we all need you!)

The great thing about whisky is that one can use it to drown one’s sorrows as last week??, or to celebrate as yesterday ?? -
One of the ABC commentators I think said that Melk and Hibberd were rejects from the drug lords: I would see them as escapees or refugees. Both are doing a great job after a quiet start to the season.

Come on optimists, sell me hope
monoccular replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Good point .... and our crumbers up forward other than Spargo arent your usual smalls. Fritsch, Hannan can take a grab when needed One or two fly, the rest crumb. Sack Goody now replace with Clint. ? Far better to be an optimist who is sometimes wrong than a pessimist who is always right ! -
The win could be a springboard, hopefully: just hope they have the sense to confiscate the bath plugs to prevent the inappropriate imbibition that has plagued successes in recent times.

And we can’t buy a win at the G so far this year ?
