LOL at Rance's dive just then, pathetic! I'm actually convinced that the commentary and hype around him is a giant prank on me and I'm part of a Trueman Show type thing this year. Absolute batshit crazy!
Tigers smashing them now and getting a percentage boost. Looks like both them and the Eagles will overtake our percentage tonight. We still have a firm hold on third place though with Swans over 20% behind us.
Brilliant first paragraph lt. The fawning by darcy at the post match was sickening. Empty vessel commentator so common on ch 7 ( excl daisy who seems smarter than all of them)

Jones - captain our captain
Hogan - continued outstanding season
T.McDonald - important as Gawn
Neal-Bullen - consistent and versatile
Hannan - a quiet achiever
Brayshaw - now a weapon
Fritsch - impressive and reliable
Petracca - missing too often
Melksham - played his part
Gawn - toyed with opponents
Oliver - engine room master
Harmes - played different role
Hibberd - not always convincing
Jetta - never been better
Lever - the curse continues
Lewis - experience was evident
O.McDonald - dependable and safe
Salem - disposal from heaven
Smith - didn’t take chances
Spargo - quiet but valuable
Vince - much like Lewis
Viney - still finding feet
In the spirit of trying to rationalize levers loss i have gone over joeboys above list which i thinl is a great summary of all snd counted 15 names i would be equally devastated to lose. Once upon a time that numbet might have been 5 ish.
If goodwin can fill tjis loss adequately recognising levers value may not be replicated i think the fundamentals are still sound.
Q B will tell us.

Here is the usual 'drop/rest' Spargo talk that we get each week. Did you see the piece of play where he got the ball on half back, hand passed it off and then sprinted forward to make another option before hitting a target inside 50? You don't get that from Garlett, but you get it from Charlie. I hope he plays in the seniors for the rest of the season.
Completely agree.. Again on todays game spargo showed he's made this position his own. Lowers his eyes . Chases. Beautiful kick. Hard runner. Mature beyond his years in a tight spot. Doesn't panic.
Lets all move on.

Do you understand the various leadership qualiites?
Such as " follow me" as a prime example, train hard, play hard, look how I play ... etc.

If they made a MENSA society for footy geniuses, Oliver would be first invited.
His football IQ is off the charts.
Its interesting that from the start he's had a lot to say on the field at set up time, prior to centre bounce etc. , contributing to the disicussions with Jones, Gawn, Viney. He was very vocal yesterday. Just feels like a leader and belongs in the engine room. He said a few weeks ago his re-signing was a "..no brainer..."
He's part of the scariest demon midfield Iv'e seen (since 1967)

Whispy Watson, Terry Wallace & Wayne Carey refuse to give us any credit.
Plough said the big winners over the weekend were the Kangaroos & Eagles & completely fresh aired us.
And as for Carey, doesn’t trust us, said it was the worst Adelaide have played for 3 years & still said we haven’t played anyone
Still a long way to go in 2018 & have a lot to prove but these big headed media ex footballers need to get there heads out of their arses & acknowledge 5 in a row & not far from the most quarters won in history
Be accurate and in context:
He said: "..Not convinced just yet. Going very very well but not getting carried away. THE in form team and the way they win has been impressive..." . "... Roos did exactly what he was paid to do..." "... Lever absolutely superb..."
"...a successful and seamless succession plan..."
Darcy, Brown, McClure and Taylor say unselfish, modest, balanaced and can win the flag.
Reasonable assessment by the Duck. He has consistently been upbeat this year.
Who cares anyway - i bet Goodwin doesn't.

Richard Douglas stated in a midweek interview they would target Lever by giving him the silent treatment. Clearly they didn’t follow instruction as Don Pyke showed them how it should be done at 3 quarter time.
That they were thinking about Lever means lost focus on real issues of game plan, structures etc. Lever's first contested win occurred in the first 5 minutes and set the pattern.
Unproductive and displays lack of recogntion this is a professional game and they still have the Adelaide inferiority complex. As Morpheous in the Matrix says, they are an ' artificail construct' , not a real team like Port Adelaide or Freo.
You want a career? - leave Adelaide and come to the east coast is the standard saying ex-Adelaide people say to me.

I reckon Spargo would say “I’ll rest when I’m dead” if you asked him. As jacey points out, anyone who hands over their spot in the side risks not getting it back. If Spargo is rested he’ll go kicking and screaming I think.
It should be considerreed for many of the younger players, esp. Spargo, that they need the experienece of Queens Birthday to prepare for finals atmosphere. Resting him this week is counter productive in this regard unless he's injured.
80,000 crowd possibly and they need to be prepared for a big stage.
I have great faith in medical team. If he plays he will be OK to play and not a risk.

Your just being naive ... our injury management cost us finals last year ... so it needs to be called out
No it didnt. Appalling effort it final game and inability to kill a side for% cost the finals.
Viney did his own thing in an effort to get back early when he was advised that 9 weeks off was needed. Look what happened.
Gawn jones and watts were all effectively managed.
Tmac and the team have done the right thing all along this year.

A dog act, not to be celebrated.
Was the catalyst for the afl to commence trial by video.
Lever was ably backed up last week when carlton tried it on in the 3rd quarter. Esp by tmac and hibberd.
Will the crows seriously risk antogonising viney and lewis? As viney said this week when asked about this and alice springs ".....I'm ready to rumble...."

The facts are, he cut short his training yesterday. He had treatment, and then went off for scans today.
Impeccable sources told me T Mac was absolutely focused on the correct rehab this year. He would call relevant staff every day in some cases to get their sign off for something he may have been thinking of doing, foot conditions status etc.
Thus his comeback has been first rate (as opposed to how jack sought to come back early)
This is another good example IMO of TMac simply being professional, sensing a concern and having it checked out.

The talk of this being the 'real test' is a bit over the top imo given the host of players Adelaide will be missing.
Walker, Sloane, McGovern, Brad Crouch, Brodie Smith and Riley Knight are all out. That's arguably 4 of their top 6/7 most influential and important players.
Matt Crouch is a test and no certainty yet and if he misses then it's another super important player missing for them.
We're going into this game at full strength and we should account for them comfortably. That's the reality.
It all depends on which Melbourne show up. It's all well and good for players like Melksham, ANB and Harmes to find form against lower opposition. The test now is for them to carry on playing at the level they are against tougher sides.
I expect us to win and not fall over at this elementary hurdle.
You'e summarised well the likely post - match "narrative" (I love that word)
If we lose it will be they were undermanned, we're at full strength and failed - I can see the headline now.
or, if we win , they were undermanned and we should have anyway. A ho-hum/didn't mean much headline
Then the media will be saying it wasn't really the test and start looking for another upcoming matching to declare that WILL be the test.
In summary, can't win either way and just get the 4 points and move on and the club just ignores the external white noise as I suspect they are doing now.

Some key messages from the Champion Data boys on SEN this morning for interest.
1. The last 4 rounds have yielded 4 wins and a % of 198% - the last time this occurred was rounds 10 to 13 - 1964
2.Will finish top 4
Plus:
3. Must keep Viney healthy
4. 5 teams can win the flag - Melbourne is one of them
5. Outstanding coaching and confidence in trying new things. Expect something different pre-finals, if make it
6. Jake Melksham just needs nothing to think about and let him play on auto pilot
7. No. 1 pressure acts and contested possession team. No easy games for opposition
8. Oliver operating at another/higher level from last year

Whatever it was, the Dees faithful behind the goals at the Ponsford were rightly giving it to him big time with those ridiculous antics every time they kicked a goal in the first quarter. We loved the “ let’s play ball “ attitude from our boys early on.
Carlton people I was sitting with said he is and had little time for him, and that the Blues seem to be trying to ' hide' him on the field at the minute. Good summary comment

The team has now won 14 quarters in a row.
Does this mean anything given the opposition, or does it actually hint at the end of the narrative that we struggle against lower, ' gimme' , sides, and its full team ahead in these types of games the supporters up to now are always fearful the team will struggle in?

Hawks have to win by 6 goals+ to knock us back to 4th.

I'd just like to send my sincere condolences to the Dom Tyson fan club.
I really feel for you, but clearly, you're on your own now. @Wrecker45 you can pass it on to the crew.
In other news, it's nice to see Smith get another shot, I thought he showed a bit in the limited game time we saw from him. Although his inclusion gives me the impression we'll see T-Mac in the ruck at times.
I'm not worried about this game in the slightest.
I hope you're right but im worried now. Kreuzer is no dud.
But this game is now a test of the teams resilience and ability of others to step up in the forward line when tmac is rucking.
Petracca I'm looking at you.
This post is not a call for Pedersen btw. Others here have seen him and agree smith is the correct selection. As recruiters at draft time say always pick the best player not the best positional option.

So when you say, "Across the last 20 seasons the 8 does not alter after round 9" that means I can expect you to make statements with no basis in facts again. Thanks for the clarification.
Some of us fess up when proven wrong. I thought Gysberts & Watts would be superstars.
I should have added a single word ' generally' in that above sentence to illustrate the trend. using other words I thought covered this as a predictor that is not perfect, impacts of drafts etc, but there you go.
Your latest post relates to the above industry fund comment how? or are you struck on the original issue?
Don't bother replying these are rhetorical questions only.
I love Mansfield BTW so think I might buy a house up there.

The most important thing Glenn and the board can do is back PJ, Roos and Goodwin. Their support allows these three to do the really important stuff
Spot on Mickey.
(speaking as a former CEO) the Board sets strategy then oversees the implementation by the CEO and his team - in simple terms - and holds them to account.
I love Bartlett because he allows the AFL's best CEO, PJ, to do his job. Bartlett isn't, nor should be in the media - unless its a full blown crisis - think Paul Little and the bombers drug scandal, the great J. Stynes (debt crisis),
. Again that's PJ and Goodwin, as the media is about talking to the members primarily.
Other AFL presidents you hear of publicly are in it for the ego rush - think McGuire and Kennett. It doesn't mean that poor in their role, but they love their heads on TV
I suspect Bartlett has a strong ego already and doesn't need validation.
Great team and the club is in good hands.

Edit:- OK I am pedantic. 2012 You are also wrong . Sorry about the bold, it won't go away.
Edit 2 :- The 2012 to 2017 period there have been 48 final spots, of those over 25% of those in the 8 after round 9 do not reach the final 8. So as a rough guide it is an indicator. And it is obviously better to be in the 8. But as industry funds tell us, past results do not guarantee future results.
Industry funds have that clause to avoid class actions for poor future performance, not because its true, but history is an indicator of behaviours.
1929, 1987, 2008, etc.

Bit of a dearth of AFL news in NL, so I appreciate 360 just for the fact of existing. To bear Robbo I've had to come to view him like you would some strange exhibit on display. It baffles me that someone who can't speak English properly defines himself as a writer and somehow came to be an editor of anything. It must give Mike Sheehan many a moment of bemused befuddlement.
Great Post ADD.
I think it was Oscar Wilde .." the only thing worse than being talked about, was NOT being talked about.
This is classic News Limited strategy (who part own Foxtel and hence AFL360) to get off some cross promotion and get the plebeians talking about their product no matter how stupid ( as it is in this case)
I refuse to have Foxtel so I can avoid not enriching Murdoch.
