  1. when hawthorn was playing Bailey and Hale it was often the occurance in order to get more run through the team
  2. Sorry about the delay, thought I had done it and I am currently on a trip with my miss! No reception until tonight and then I thought id catch up on demonland and saw this. Locked in Frankin, masten Parker and hombsch But I may change my overage keepers closer to the date
  3. Only negative with this is injuries over summer, meaning that it could result in one of your 4 keepers being out for the year, but I like the idea
  4. Okay well barring injuries il have Franklin, masten, Parker and hombsch
  5. What date do I have to confirm my keepers by?
  6. Yeh easy, Parker and hombsch but was just checking
  7. Question about the free agents, can anyone pick them up or claim a rookie to be their rookie?
  8. Strauss played a good game. Found more of it than usual and his kicking was dart like! If he keeps up games like that he is almost in our best 22 but likely first drop of defender as he can play both tall and small! Bernie Vince killed it. Spencer messed up once or twice but the pressure he puts on around the ground is amazing. Its only nab cup, but promising signs
  9. Alright so I'm struggling to check into the league! Can I Get the league code? P.s il be in halong bay for the next 3 days probably struggle to find wifi so il check agin Saturday arvo
  10. Thanks H_T, although I think you will find that I am still in from last year as an original, although I was severely uncompetitive last year so I understand how you forgot me
  11. I agree, but I think it's more wishful than anything. Strauss is stronger, a better disposal and much more defensive. He doesn't have the offensive drive that terlich has (which is a problem if he plays vfl because he doesn't rack up massive numbers and makes it hard to bring him in), but I feel he is a hell of a lot better in the small defender role! Here's hoping to a full preseason and 100% fitness.
  12. i think alot of posters on here just disagree with ben-hur for the fun of an arguement, although i do not always agree with his posts, i do not agree with alot of peoples posts, but i think half the time people have a bit of an outdated view on football. he agreed with a post about how toumpas needs to work on his inside game, and then all of a sudden from reading these posts toumpas has no need for improvement on his inside game but rather our team, he couldnt dominate due to injury and that somehow effected his inside game and the fact that a stat that was released by the herald sun and is clearly one used by the recruiters is a stupid stat. the thing for me is that toumpas does not have the speed off the mark to be associated with a brad hill or isaac smith because they use their speed to get out of the congestion. in alot of his junior games people gave the footy to him because they knew he could kick it, and i am sure the mfc will do that aswell, but it does not mean that he doesnt need to work on his inside game. he can kick the ball real good, his decision making is pretty solid, but his tackle pressure and inside game is what he needs to improve on and that is a fact
  13. TAC cup level and also the carnival will keep all the stats, possibly even rep level from 16s
  14. Understandable, but the old coaching and board are still nothing to do with the set up we have at the moment. but i also think it is clear through the draft this year that no other club was willing to take him highlights why he wasnt playing afl games. if we dropped a player like toumpas or matt jones or jordie mckenzie they would most definitely be sought out by other clubs and that is why he didnt get a game. i still dont agree that a player should feel aggrieved due to the coaching staff not thinking he was ticking all the right boxes to get a game at a club?
  15. Whilst the lack of communication may be true, i also feel that magner was exaggerating a situation in order to poorly represent the MFC coaching panel and provide himself with his best oppourtunity to play at another club. Just because he was praised by a line coach for providing defensive pressure in a game, does not mean that it was not still the issue with what he needed to improve and why he stayed at casey for so long. i disagree, there needs to be a mix of both, obviously skill on the outside is vital, but the days were players are able to roam outside packs and wait for the handball recieve are over. Gut running in order to re recieve after clearing is a vital skill midfielders need and is highlighted through players like Trent Cotchin, Patrick Dangerfield and even Marc Murphy
  16. Was Jake Best nominated for the rookie draft? because i have a few mates that play vfl. who spoke to AFL clubs which were guaranteeing them rookie positions, but chose not to be taken in the rookie draft and withdrew
  17. is this a statement about how all delisted players could have bad feelings towards a club? or just because he was judged to not be up to AFL standard and not offered a spot on the list he should have ill will towards a club that granted him the oppourtunity to fulfill his dream of playing 2 seasons of football at the highest level! did he get picked up by another team? i guess other teams saw the limitations that were seen by not only Paul Roos but also the previous coaching staff. Interesting to see how Toumpas goes next year, i read a statement somewhere talking about how players who average less than 30% contested ball in their junior football struggle to get drafted/make it at afl level. James Aish, Toumpas and also Cale Morton fit into this category or are borderline. I doubt he will see too much senior time especially early on with the increased competition through the midfield, and Roos preference for mature bodies through there. But if he can keep the form he showed at Casey last year when he did play, it will be hard to keep him out of the side. It would be interesting to find out when actual time trials are going on and how our new midfield crop are able to compete with Tom Mac and Trenners
  18. the fact is with them missing out on Buddy Franklin they need to increase their tall forward stocks. Although fitting so many large forwards in a team is a problem, it is a similar one to which we have now that our tall forward stocks read like Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Fitzpatrick, Gawn or Jamar or Spencer when they rest from the ruck, even Watts but he is expected to play midfield. That being said i think they realize that Patton is not the tall forward they want, too slow and not athletic enough for the modern game and that his trade value, in my opinion, will surely decrease over the next 2 years, which means that they will want to offload him at the end of this year, and i believe western bulldogs will be the team to secure his services, for a pick within the top 10.
  19. Pederson is decent for back up (will be better than troy davis was, and will play if frawley or t-mac get injured), and Byrnes fits a niche in the fact we have very few small forwards. The point I was making, was he addressed the issue that we needed older players around the club, which we lacked, more so for training than for game play! Whilst rodan, gillies and sellar were all pretty much failures, he turned over the list quickly and has put us in a much better position than we would have been this year, had he not. The fact of the matter is, we did not have a competitive team, we did not have a competitive midfield and as i said, if it were a year where he could have picked up decent midfilders from the free agent period then we would have been sold! but he made the tough calls on list management and brought in players who will be pivotal to our finals success, but as anyone he also had some screw ups
  20. I would love to be able to pick him up in the PSD or rookie draft! that would be ideal
  21. Hogan, Clark, Dawes and Terlich, are clear evidence that Neeld did more things right. "we overpaid dawes" well we have to pay out the salary cap anyway, which is why front ended contracts for both Clark and Dawes were great ideas, and left us with money to bring in mids this year. He did make necessary list management choices, and whilst the older players didnt really work out last year, it was not about on field performance but rather off field leadership and training techniques. Sure Neeld did a lot of things wrong, but he also has helped provide the list with a great forward line and indirectly was involved with being able to create cash and room on the list for the midfield recruits we were able to get this year. It was a shame that last year players of cross and vinces quality werent available and even potentially michie because he knew we needed bigger bodies but the problem was the player availability was poor. but yes, ultimately neeld did alot of things wrong but also has provided our club with the basis of hopefully a very very competitive team that will play finals in years to come
  22. Here is hoping we get him at 40, that would mean we come out of this draft/trade period with 3 top 10 talented players, tyson, garlett and pick 9. he fits the bill in kind of player we need, and all being well will be a 10 year player, and if not pick 40 in this draft is rather speculative anyway.
  23. i guess the better question would be how often does a best 22 actually get on the field? so really it is a best 25-28 that is a grand final team, and Dunn would be in all 18 teams best 25-28 100%
  24. I feel that Dunn would slot quite nicely in the 22-25 of a few top 8 teams, especially coming into finals season when choosing between an 18-20 year old to a 25 year old utility. he would definitely be able to play a role in many teams due to his flexibility. For example: this season Taylor Durea played alot of games for hawthorn, but i feel that having the option of Dunn would have been a prefferred one. collingwood were lacking having another forward target that would be kicking goals, and also got games into youngsters, but having said that if they had the choice im sure they would have played dunn up forward. probably could have been a role player for sydney in finals time aswell. I feel that people either expect too much, or just dont like the fact he is a bit of a [censored], football wise apart from a few errors (which everyone in our team is prone to) Dunn can be a very solid role player, and probably even a little bit more.
  25. to be honest with you, i doubt magner will get picked up, his disposal is well below what is needed, his running capacity is good, but his speed is poor and he refuses to chase defensively. This is why someone like Matt Jones got picked ahead of him
