  1. I'm hoping for this: Ins: Scully, Trengove, Bate, Strauss Outs: Wona, Rivers, Jetta.....then I'm stumped, I'd say Bartram but he is the right size to take on one of Satantas little helpers. I've put in Strauss for his lethal kick in and he will have more pace to go with one of the small forwards than Rivers. It was a toss up between Joel or Rivers.
  2. I agree with this statement. Grimes is an amazing rebounding defender, but I do see him eventually moving into more of a midfielders role while Strauss will take that "quarterback" role that Grimes currently occupies.
  3. I posted that in another thread however it has been removed and I am not able to go into it or I will be banned.
  4. I am surprised that more people haven't thrown Strauss into the mix. It seems the general consensus is that MacDonald and Rivers are too similar but Joel offers more run. If Rivers keeps his spot, which he is likely to do, surely Strauss offers even more run than Joel. With Bruce injured and played HBF role lately I think it is the perfect time for Strauss to come in and use his damaging kick to get us out of our backline.
  5. Obviously we will not make this many changes but here are some swaps that I think should be made. Out: PJ In: Dunn As much as Dunn is my favourite whipping boy he must come in for PJ who was horrible again this week. Dunn is a decent ruckman and offers a bit around the ground. If not Dunn then maybe Martin, but Bailey seems to like Dunn so I am assuming he will come in. Out: Bennell In: Jetta Bennell has certainly shown a few good signs over the last few rounds however he went missing for too long too often again this week. I see these two as very similar players who are unlikely to both be in the side at the one time. I think it is time for Jetta to get another AFL chance. Out: Bruce (inj) In: Strauss While I think Bailey will likely pick MacDonald instead I think Strauss is the future, his form has been decent at Casey and we really need his kick from the kick outs. Out: Hughes In: Wona Speaks for itself I think. We have been waiting to see Wona back in the red and blue for over a year. It will be interesting to see how he goes now as he stood out in a horrible Melbourne team in 08 and while we were horrible on Saturday, as a whole we are vastly improved. Out: Sylvia In: Morton Sylvia, you are a high draft pick who teased us for years and finally stepped up last year. This year you have not been interested or committed. You will obviously find your way back to the seniors but dropping quality players not putting in adequate performances is a proven way to lift the whole team, look at St Kilda dropping Milne and Dal Santo two years ago. Out: Bartram In: Cheney This one will not happen as Bartram was in good form before this week and every other player (bar junior) was extremly average. Cheney has, by all reports, been very good out at Casey and that needs to be rewarded. Bartram should be well aware of the fact that if his performances are not consistently good he will find himself playing out at Casey for an extended period of time. Players I would like to think are knocking on the door an unlucky to be included in my massive list of changes are: Gysberts Bail (if fit) If Bate is unfit perhaps bring in Gysberts for him, however I am hoping Bater plays and starts learning where to kick for Watts/Wonna as the link man for the coming years.
  6. Super 14 plays in Australia, NZ and South Africa.
  7. This is amazing news. I beleive this is the second coming of The Messiah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Best change I have heard all year. Dunn may be taking a lot of marks, but I cannot bear to watch what he does with the pill after the mark has been taken. Grimes, to Trengove, to Scully, to Watts.....GOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Out: Dunn, Hughes In: Morton, Watts There is no way we should ever risk Watts in the ruck so PJ may keep his spot to help Jamar tackle NicNat & Cox. Hughes should consider himself to be very unlucky but surely Watts has done enough to earn a call up? Dunn has been my favourite whipping boy this year and he lived up to his reputation again on Friday night. Morton should definately come in but if he still isn't 100% match fit Gysberts could come in.
  10. No he's not. However I hope that he is not booed when we do play Carlton. I thought it was unfair on TJ to do so given he didn't want to leave. While Brock was never one of my favourite players, in fact I always thought he was over rated, he did personally contribute around $10,000 to debt demolition which I do not think any other player did, so that is admirable. Other than that I am glad he at Carlton and am not suprised he is doing poorly.
  11. I have always been a pretty big fan of PJs but I think we must persist with Martin for at least a few more games. I was interested in the review of Hughes, but would honestly rather see 'The Messiah' prove his worth on the AFL field. What are your thoughts on Gysberts and Strauss coming in?
  12. Personally these are the changes I would like to see made, however I know that Dean will not make them. 1. Watts in for Petterd. I know this is controversial but I beleive Watts would be better off playing in the AFL despite not setting the world alight in the VFL. His body may not be ready but either is Scully's but he gets a game. 2. Gysberts in for Bennell. I thought Bennell went missing on Saturday and I am under the impression that Gysberts has been showing some real class for Casey since he started two or three weeks ago. If we do half as well out of this trade as we did out of the TJ trade then Gysberts will be quite good. 3. Strauss in for Joel MacDonald. Joel was a terrible user of the ball against North. I remember as we were going in to our 50 once he tried to chip a kick of a North player instead of handballing. It went straight into the North player and was a costly turnover. Strauss is the future and everyone knows his kicking has been outstanding at Casey, and will be in the AFL when he gains a bit of confidence. The other boys need to help him out though and actually MOVE when we are kicking out. Obviously it is not quite fair to leave out Bail and Jordie but I am not sure of their injury status so I have left them out. While my three changes are all youth focused I do not think that is a bad thing. We are highly unlikely to make finals this year so it is the perfect year to make changes to see who will make and who will not, this is best determined by the boys playing at AFL level rather than VFL level. Edit: spelling
  13. Jones used to be the nuggest but me and my mates now belt out a deep Juuuuuuuuunes every time he gets it.
  14. Jame McDonald - Junior Mark Jamar - The Russian Aaron Davey - The Flash Jack Trengove - I've hear a lot of Trenners coming from the crowd James Frawley - Chip Liam Jurrah - The Jurrah-caine (amongst many others) Jack Watts - The Messiah Michael Newton - Spud
  15. That looks amazing and is basically in the shadow of our home the MCG. It will also be nice to have our own oval with goal posts year round. Am I correct in assuming that Victory/Rebels will actually train on the ground, while storm remain at Visy and we are the only ones who will use this new oval?
  16. My link Did anyone read this article from AFL.com. It makes for a very interesting read about the possibilities of new facilities in the docklands precinct.
  17. I have seen Casey and I have seen Arden Street. I can say without a shadow of a doubt, the Arden Street facilities are miles beyond what we have out at Casey. There is a pool, gym, indoor training area, lecture theatre and video editing suite. We will have these at AAMI but I have not seen them out at Casey.
  18. I agree that this arrangement may prove to be unpopular as the various sides sharing AAMI fight for priority use of the facilities. Is moving to Casey really the answer though given how far it is from 'central melbourne'. It is sad that we are now the only melbourne club without very high quality facilities either complete or under construction. In the last few months/years North have had Arden St redone, Cartlon Princes Park, Hawthorn Waveryly, Collingwood Lexus Centre while Richmond and St Kilda have new facilities under construction at Punt Rd and Frankston. How are we split between two, one of which is world class but shared with up to four other clubs and then there is Casey which is not of nearly as high a standard as what other clubs, even north and richmond, currently have.
  19. Hello everyone, I am a long time reader and first time poster. After years 'in the wilderness' it is amazing to see the mighty dee's show the first signs of coming out of a tough period. I think it is great that this form will coincide with the opening of our new facilities at AAMI Park. Does anyone know if we will be moving in in three weeks when the stadium is officially opened? Does anyone have any photos/info on what our facilities are like in there and how time is divided up between us, storm, victory, heart and the rebels? Also is our MCG size oval next to AAMI all finished?
