  7. I was really looking forward to this season all summer, now........................ Pathetic rabble of a side, ring the changes. Seems the CEO has lost faith in the coach and while I have avoided bagging him, I am affraid he is not the guy to take us to a flag. DB you have a few games left to prove me wrong I recon. 1964 was so long ago, last year I thought I saw a light at the end of the tunnel, but the light if fading for this season at least. GAME PLAN SUX BIG TIME "SIGH"

  15. Back in the days that VFL/AFL teams had there reserves sides the purpose was to keep fringe playes fit, get injured players back to match fitness for the firsts, and to blood young players for senior level. If a Premiership was won in the mean time this was a welcome bonus. Board members of the MFC AND Casey have an obligation to do what is best for the clubs they are elected to represent, here I believe is the route cause of the problems with the affiliations between AFL and VFL clubs. BOTH clubs focus is on there teams winning a Premiership and often this is a problem for the other club. EG: Recuit Fev, must give Casey a greater chance of a flag, the availability of eligable MFC players during Caseys finals games can also be a problem for the Scorpions. On the other hand, Melbourne would be concerned about him influencing our younger players, and as the MFC have stated it may restrict a young MFC players development thus having an effect on the MFC's push for a loooong awaited Flag. To win an AFL premiership a club must have everything going for it, with a tough of luck thrown in. So is Casey a help or a hinderance to this end. Constructive opinions please. There are a number of solutions, none of them without alot of pain.
  16. I think we will finish about 10th this year. I don't care about the rest except, I HOPE the Pies drop from the sky...
  17. This will be my second year as a Presidents, now called Legends member. I really enjoy it there, the supporters are friendly and welcoming. It was suggested to join the Legends by my mate that I go to the footy with as a trial for one year, we both enjoyed the presidents lunch day which is part of the membership package and this is for two people for a Demons home game, he takes me and I take him so we get two lunches (this is the only time his wife is interested in going to a game). So we rejoined again this year. Like alot of others here going to the footy was a family affair for me for a loooooong time, but now my mother is to old to go (she will be a 50 year member next year) and my sister has moved to the Sunny Coast. Very glad I met Tony and we have a great time at the games. Good luck at the footy JT. Go Dee's
  18. Excellent post I was getting really tired of the bickering here and had stopped posting because of it.
  19. After all the club has been through, for some Melbourne supporters to be saying they believe they get no value from being a member of the MFC. $50 if your already a MCC member, this arguement to me is unbelievable. in the last 15 years we have almost lost our club twice, to own a membership gives you a say in the club as you have a vote, so feel I have some ownership of my club because I am a member. I also feel that supporters should do there bit for the club to help keep it viable if they can. I know that some people just simply cannot afford to buy a membership and I totally understand this as living expenses must come first for stuggling individuals and families. However to those that pay $450 for an MCC membership and don't pay an extra $50 to support the football club, this is a poor excuse as far as I am concerned. A poster to this site wrote about a brave club, which we have, seems we need a lot more brave supporters. I am a full MFC and MCC member, and this is my opinion on this subject!
  20. Well what I am saying is this. If like me you hold a full MFC membership and: If you also hold a Melbourne Cricket Club membership, it helps the MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB if you use your MCC membership at MFC home games at the "G"
  21. 1. I am only quoting what I was told. The money made by the MCC is apparently overall, including expensive beers and food, I was just pointing out that the MFC in there approach to the MCC quoted this fact to again start working more closely together with the current management of the MFC. (Overall gate attendance is not MCC attendance numbers.)In any case as I say below money is paid to the clubs for people going through the MCC members gate. 2. I have two tickets to go to any home game and I use them, the MCC pays the MFC for every MCC member through the MCC members gate. So I do as much as I can to help the footy club.
  22. I am a MCC member and a Legends member of the MFC (donation to the club.) I was talking to one of our board members at a Presidents lunch last year and we spoke about dual members like myself that scan in as MCC and also scan in on my MFC membership on Melbourne home games. I asked the question, was it worth me doing this as I was under the impression that the MCC paid the MFC for the attendance for the day. I was told this is correct and that part of the club renewing its ties with the MCC is that the MCC makes more money on a Melbourne home game than with most other non blockbuster games played there. EG: If Essendon has a home game crowd of 44K and Melbourne has a home game crowd of 30K the MCC make more money on the day with our home game. So if you are a dual member like me I suggest that you might use both your memberships on home game days to help the Demons!
  23. He is a life member of the club and he walks with no compensation for us after being on huge bucks for 3 years, very grubby if you ask me.
  24. Awesome year for a really nice bloke. Well done.
  25. Well, we all get to live by our decisions and now he gets to live by his. Goodluck with your future career Chris.
