Racist Comment Targetting Nev
It may not be the reason, but the coaches may still see it affecting his game. It amazes me how people like yourself and Mental just dismiss it as something along the lines of a āharden up princessā scenario.

The ignorance displayed in this one short sentence, beggars belief!

Racist Comment Targetting Nev
It IS about football! It is about the fact the indigenous footballers are still subjected to racist attacks and is no less worthy of discussion than any other football related topic. We just saw Eddie Betts commenting on the recent attack against him, to the effect that heās had enough and itās affecting his enjoyment of the game. I would not be surprised if the fact Nev is not in tomorrowās team has something to do with the attack on him and about him having time out to clear his own mind and have time with his family who would also have been affected. This is a subject that should not be consigned to the General Discussion forum where it would sit gathering cobwebs. You donāt need to read it if you find it too confronting (the topicās subject is made clear in the title and in no way ambiguous). Just move on to the next topic that interests you... easy!

Free Kicks... more or less
Iām just curious as to whether there has been any change to the average number of free kicks being paid in matches this year. It could be a good opportunity to gauge how much influence the crowds do have on umpires. Anyone here across these kinds of figures at all?

Not certain about the church aspect, although I would not be at all surprised, but there is this in relation to the law: http://www.austlii.edu.au/au/journals/AltLawJl/1992/35.pdf

Facebook, although not perfect by any means, at least allows you to control who gets to see your posts and comment on them. Instagram and Twitter have no such controls (that I'm aware of) and so these trolls have an easy way in to spread their rubbish. One thing I like about Facebook is that it's given me a way of connecting with friends I had lost contact with decades ago. Renewing old friendships seems, to me at least, to be fairly important as we get older.

Should we do the same with bullying in schools? Racism is a form of bullying and as such, must be stamped out. There's only one certainty, if we do nothing then nothing will change.

Precisely! In schools, the bullies are probably just 1% of the student population, but they can, and do, destroy lives of those who are vulnerable to such treatment. Stamp out the small fires before they have a chance to become something much bigger.

Fixture 2020 (COVID Edition)
Has that always been the case, and if so, is it likely to be the case this year in light of the financial stress being felt across the entire industry?

Le Tour!!
What makes it a little more ambiguous is the fact the programming lists the coverage (in Foxtel's guide) as Live: Tour de France Etape Classique.

Damn! Thatāll teach me to make assumptions based on seeing only the last part of the advert ?- Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
Perhaps his first two tests were negatives, hence the conclusion that he was positive?- Le Tour!!
Nice to see that the Tour de France is going ahead and starting this Saturday! Not sure how they'll manage the social distancing with the crowds along the road... it's sure to be a logistical nightmare when it comes to maintaining numbers and order; but I'll certainly be watching the greatest sporting event and travel guide known to humankind.- Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
Um, no... that's the job of the virus. Of course the AFL must carry out an investigation of the cause; because they need to determine whether or not McKenna breached their rules. And of course the Health Dept will be investigating as well, just as they do with every case reported as they need to determine what was the nature of the infection. I'm certainly no fan of his, but Gil McLachlan is doing a very good job in what must be an almost impossible situation. I can't even begin to comprehend the logistics that must be involved in trying to keep this competition together and running... you're just [censored] off because it's Melbourne who were involved and who have been inconvenienced. Try looking at it from a broader perspective.- Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
As I understand it, if you have COVID, you are contageous well before you start to show any physical symptoms (that is, during the incubation period), and as it usually takes anywhere between 2 and 14 days to display symptoms, then you would have to imagine that you are contageous from almost day 1. Thanks Mr Empathy. You probably should have made that response against my original post where I said that I would hate to see him miss a game that obviously means a lot to him on a personal level, rather than a post describing what that organisation does. It must have been the red mist obscuring your vision.- Melbourne vs Essendon Postponed
I have to admit that Iām getting some kind of perverse pleasure out of this year. Itās like watching a train wreck, but more trains keep coming along the track and crashing into the already wrecked trains. - Le Tour!!
