Call me optimistic, call me deluded, call me unrealistic, call me stupid, but what the hell, if we don't set our expectations high we won't have anything to aim at. Of course I'm expecting too much from Jesse Hogan but sometimes dreams come true.

    Dear Odus,

No pressure on the young fella.

    Hogan 25

    Garlett 20

    Dawes 20

    Viney 6

Salem (may play forward and if so) : 15

    Petracca 10

We need to get about 4 - 5 extra goals a game to be competitive.

  2. Beating Geelong at Geelong.

I was there the day that last happened. A guest of a mate who is a member, sitting behind the goals amongst Sea of Blue and White. I flew down from Sydney just for the afternoon. Best flight home ever.

    In order of satisfaction:

Collingwood, I'd like to burn that stupid gold lame jacket.

Hawthorn, with Hogan booting 6 on Frawley.

GWS at Homebush, I go every year and just want to smash the smug little sods.

  3. Jetta (51 - 2008), Gawn (34 - 2009), Howe and McDonald (33, 53 - 2010), Kent (48 - 2012), JKH (40 - 2013).

    I'd say that's worth a shot.

Much better than our first round pick record!

Worth 200k to pay someone out if they are unwilling drop back to the rookie list

I agree for all the gnashing of teeth over who we could have picked in the top ten often there is someone in the lower order that ends up an A grader or B+.

I'd like us to use 40 because I suspect this is where Roos comes into his own in picking someone who will develop over time, JHK, Howe and McDonald are great examples of this.

Perhaps its that players at this level work that little bit harder and have more to prove.

I also look forward to the "who?" reaction it draws.

That said we should take no further risks with Trenners who i think will come back and be better thatn before

  4. Hmmm, played golf again today with my mate and the dreaded word "stalemate" came up (in regards to $$$ and term). Don't like hearing that word. The positive thing is that we are in discussions with NJ, unlike Frawley last year. Still very confident he will sign before end of November.

I dont see this as a negative, he is talking to us with a deal that probably means he is a Dee for life. I hope the club realises that an extra year on the deal with all the salary inflation going on is nothing in the bigger scheme of things. As for the dollars we have to realise what the market is. Most so called stalemates have seen the player sign..

  5. In my view picks are paper money. You really dont know what you are going to get or the true value of the pick for some time. Sure they are an opportunity to back your guess before other teams but history shows that remains very speculative exercise. Roos knows this when he articulated his general approach to the draft. It appears our approach was to find the best available replacement for Frawley. Our bet is that Frost is developing as a key backman who is not yet as good as Frawley but can fill that role at senior level. If we passed because of some belief that picks are bankable currency then we have learnt very little as a club. The question is not whether he was worth pick 23 but rather does he fill the role we needed to fill this year and we will know the answer over the next season.
