WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
P-man replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
I admire your openmindedness but the risk is just too high. Not simply in terms of the return we will get from him on the field, which alone is a risk, but let’s not underestimate the influence a player of his age could have on players five years his junior. It’s not a case of ruining an entire football club. It’s a case of being a contributor to standards dropping that 1% which can affect results, which can affect seasons. This is a bloke who after being given umpteen chances still finds himself involved in nightclub brawls and turning up to training late. The need for another classy outside player is great, but it’s not that great. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL

This. There have been some wasted talents over the years but this guy is right up there with the best/worst of them. -
It’s almost a case of how do you even critique such stupidity? Talk about a tenuous link. “Melbourne wants two first round picks yet are willing to have cocoa pops for breakfast”.
-
He’s right with regards to the foot injury. That’s it. And the foot injury is said to be of no concern. The whole thing about negative body language comes from those who haven’t watched him play for 12 months. There was little sign of that last season. He’s maturing, like everyone does at different rates, Hogan had kicked 30 goals by the midpoint of the season, but this fool and others like him are talking about “body language” like it detracts from his trade value . He’s an idiot. Hogan is worth two first round picks. Minimum. If the club accepts anything less it will be daylight robbery.
-
Damn. I’m starting to get my hopes up that he will stay and sign an extension. Was hoping this wouldn’t happen.
-
I'm gonna lose my [censored] if we let him go for just pick 5. Meltdown warning.
-
Oh yeah mate. Allows you to submit a free entry every year. And other stuff. This has opened up a world you never knew about. Or needed.
-
You are both making me rethink the red carpet special I had planned for next year.
-
Well that’s that then. He’s gone.
-
Anyone who thinks Hogan is worth anything less than two first round picks has NFI.
-
Agreed although as I understand it Carlton and GC get first dibs on those players now.

This is why I’d like to keep Tyson. You’re right. If he goes, as appears more likely than not, along with Vanders whose exit appears even more likely, our inside mid depth suddenly starts to look very questionable for a premiership challenging side. Barlow’s last game for the Suns on face value showed he still could provide value to a squad. Suns fans on Bigfooty (yes, they do exist) are adamant that he wasn’t treated well by the club. Whether he’s the right option for us is another matter, but as to whether he could he still compete at AFL level, I would say yes. It’s a worthy thread.
-
No....hence entering negative territory.
-
That’s quite funny that someone actually called up to correct Dal Santo about Tyson’s disposal. I don’t know why anyone could be bothered but I’m glad that they can. I like Dom as an inside mid but this media myth about him being a lovely kick is maddening. BT often describes him as one of the best kicks in the side when it’s the exact opposite.
-
If Hogan stays then Luke Darcy loses credibility. Which would mean he enters negative credibility. Also known as the Greg Denham Zone.

Congrats to @Skuit who is the 2018 Crystal Ball winner. Your Crystal Ball trophy shall be mailed to you. Keeping it old school. On quality and quantity, a worthy winner. A mix of safe and daring predictions which turned out correct. Most notable predictions: - Frost continuing on an upward trend with a renewed role/impetus - ladder prediction of between 3rd and 5th And finally and most impressively... - James Harmes to be the surprise packet of the season. Harmes capped off an outstanding year by finishing 3rd in the Bluey. Surprise packet indeed. Correct (or close enough) predictions have been bolded in the below. Thanks for participating one and all. Bring on 2019 ?

Only on a club forum would you see serious suggestions of a second round pick for a player like Kent. La la land stuff. If we get offered a third round pick we should take it and run. Pick 60 or thereabouts is his worth, particularly with his injury history. That’s not to say he doesn’t have upside and could turn out to be a great pick up for the Saints, but he remains a gamble.

Has been a great servant for the club. Never dropped his bundle and gave it his all no matter the level he played at. Can leave with his head held high. Turned out to be a better trade than Dawesy. #pedofacts
-
Nah, they’re just completely mid focused. It’s a shame.
-
Gold Coast’s highest vote getter was Fiorini with 5 votes. Wow.
-
I’d just like to note that someone deacribed Gus as “not AFL standard” in the prelim match thread.
-
Jordan Lewis is absolutely cooked, never pick him again
P-man replied to DeeSpencer's topic in Melbourne Demons
This sums it up for me, although I’d say 7/10. It was one game. Yes, he was beyond putrid yesterday, but it’s one game. When we are playing well as a team and have ascendency in the middle, he steadies the ship at the back. Would anyone really dispute him playing an important role in the Semi? He will again be useful to that end next season. Which will be his last. -
The 34 tackles is what has me stuffed. That is appallingly low for this side. I recall the commentary saying halfway through the second quarter that we’d had a total of nine tackles, five of which were in our forward 50. That’s four tackles across the rest of the ground approaching halftime. Can that really just be mental? Surely not. For whatever reason we just couldn’t get near them.

Let’s go with 2004. A quick feed is a good feed.
