Just to play devil’s advocate, Melbourne are almost a weekly discussion point on On The Couch, primarily due to the show being hosted by Garry Lyon. Good or bad, Melbourne are likely to feature on the show. Same with his SEN slot. We get more airplay than several other clubs due to that alone. I don’t mind at all if the commentary is negative, as long as we’re being talked about. While Lyon has a strong media presence (much to the chagrin of some), that’s a guarantee.

If you don’t want knee jerk, don’t log on here after a loss. Plain and simple. It’s an emotional game. Besides which there’s some truth behind all the fists being smashed on the table. The same applies in reverse after a win. Two things: 1. The Darcy injury will hurt for a few weeks but Freo should play finals this year. Whether or not that makes them a ‘good team’ depends on your definition but I don’t see them regressing back to early season form. The narrative that we lost to a bog ordinary side simply isn’t true. 2. We have the talent on the park to be a contender THIS year. Obviously talent alone doesn’t get you there but it’s a major factor. The season is not shot. Far from it.

Was reading the West Coast board on BF and several have commented that Hunt could win their BnF this year.
