  1. It was a slow death hastened by the Lyon/Brownless fiasco and once Newman left it was on borrowed time. People who watched TFS didn’t watch it for niceties. They watched it to listen and laugh at the old dinosaur being revved up by Lyon, Brayshaw and the like and revel in the political incorrectness. That and the success of a genuinely funny show in The Front Bar were the final nails in the coffin.
  2. Two games from two years ago? Not sure that tells us much of anything. I don’t see JKH or Corey Maynard dominating allcomers at the state level. Maybe I’m not imagining hard enough. I’m not advocating for a Trenners return, partly because there is next to no chance of that happening, but his form surely warrants another roll of the dice when half your team is out injured. I am now quietly hoping Port get thrashed this weekend.
  3. Decided to have a looksy at how Trenners is doing in the SANFL. Leading the league for disposals and DT points. 2nd in the league for clearances. 3rd for inside 50s. 4th for tackles. He’s killing it. If he doesn’t get named tonight with all of Port’s outs including some of their inside brigade in Wines and the like, it’s hard to imagine it happening. Hopefully another call up isn’t far away. He’s doing everything possible to get one.

Well, it kinda is. We’re talking about the here and now. I trust you don’t have any ready replacements for them. Not every player has to have ā€œx factorā€. Nibbler certainly isn’t in the team for that. He’s in there for his work rate which the coaches clearly appreciate. Jeffy took a couple of low percentage options on the weekend but if you look at the body of work, he clearly makes our forwardline a more dangerous one. I know there’s a common dislike for Nibbler and Garlett but you could at least pot them after a bad game. Their contributions on the weekend were solid. FYI using the quote feature helps me know you’ve responded to my post.
  5. I read he’s not being sanctioned which I think is the right move, especially if there are extenuating circumstances. The fact is he’s an important commodity. He’s gone against team rules/expectations so it’s a strike, but putting an arm around him is the best way to go. May at his very best goes a long way towards making us a contender.

Nibbler was the leading tackler on the weekend and Jeffy had six score involvements. Who would you have in the side ahead of them right now?

Hannan, Garlett, Lockhart, Hunt and Nibbler could take shape as a decent mosquito fleet.
  8. Having a few pints on a Sunday afternoon (reportedly between 2 and 6) seems a non issue to me, but if he feels the need to apologise to the playing group then he’s obviously not met an internal expectation. That’s the issue, not the drinking itself. As we sit here right now, he’s a bust. He needs to work upwards from there.
  9. Watched his presser. Don’t think he’s being a sore loser so much as giving his honest view of the game. None of what he said could be said to be untrue. Hawks had the better first and last quarters and we had the better middle quarters. We punished them a little better when we had the momentum. The game wasn’t an amazing spectacle but we ground out the win with a return to basics. Clarkson also described us as one of if not the best contested ball side in the league so it wasn’t all poo pooing the opposition. His overriding point seemed to be that both sides are capable of better than what they dished up today and in the season so far. Which is true.
  10. lol what utter nonsense.
  11. Definitely his last year. Hopefully he goes out on something resembling a high.
  12. Hawks mate trash talking me all week and all game has gone eerily quiet. Feels good.
  13. 6. Harmes 5. Salem 4. Gawn 3. Oliver 2. Hibberd 1. Frost HM: Nibbler, Lockhart
  14. Important clearance in the final minutes which resulted in a goal. Solid debut Lockhart has unlocked my heart (credit to whoever I stole this from, @Wiseblood maybe)
  15. Nerves are absolutely shredded. Season remains alive. Just. Take a bow James Harmes. Best game for the club.
  16. Spidey senses on song.

I find the Jeffy commentary pretty funny. He’s made us look more dangerous going forward than we have all year and people want him gone. The decisions and execution will come as he gets game time. He’s getting to the right spots and doesn’t move like treacle. Two things we desperately need.

Sideways. Back. Sideways. Back. Sideways. Turnover. We are back to the days of being excruciating to watch.

It feels like we are literally fumbling everything. And yet we are still in the game.

Hawks are very gettable today. If we can just tidy up our deplorable skills.
