  1. Gysberts is 21 years old. He is still a long-term prospect. I am saying I would've preferred to see him kept for at least another (ideally injury free) year to see where he is at, because of his 19 or so games, there were a handful that showed he would not only be best 22 in coming years but well beyond that. I can concede that there has been a bit too much focus on "the future" at the expense of the here and now with this club in recent years, but there is such a thing as overcorrection. Anyhow the deal is done and I am trusting in Neeld and the FD, because really what's the alternative.
  2. Probably true but still, Dangerfield! lol. I think you'd struggle to find two players more poles apart in their career than Danger and Morton.
  3. Oh goody. A joy to watch. Meh, too shitted off right now.
  4. So with Viney and Pick 4, we will be so overrun with quality midfielders that there would be no room for Gysberts? I can accept the trade but I can't accept that logic. Premiership teams all have one thing in common - depth. Bottom line is he couldn't be developed. He had the talent, you don't smash it against the Cats and not have the talent.
  5. At least we got something for him. I still say he will become a great player but he didn't align with Neeld's way forward and was stagnating. I'm disappointed because I think he deserved another year to prove his wares, but not as furious about this one as the Morton trade. Bitter taste in the mouth about him going to effing Norf.
  6. I lied. I feel sick in the guts. #4 draft pick given away for nothing in a few years.
  7. I have no words to describe Pick 88 for Morton.
  8. If you're not RR then you've certainly hit the ground running for a newbie. 62 posts in a couple of days. Assuming you are new, welcome aboard.
  9. I Remember The Time when we were relevant. Free agency compo tells me that They Don't Care About Us. ..am I doing it right?
  10. This is how I feel about it. At the end of the day we've picked up a guy who turns 30 next year and has been let go by Port. The flipside is I would still have him on the field ahead of the likes of Bate or Bennell, so we'll see how it pans out.
  11. Actually scratch that. Trengove Watts Dawes
  12. Age reporting that North are keen as part of a Pederson deal - http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demon-gysberts-emerges-as-possible-solution-to-pederson-trade-20121025-287bm.html
  13. He'll win a few people over with that "nek minnit". The kids love it.
  14. Are you beside yourself with joy Robbie?
  15. But why the urgency? Why not wait until he is a delisted free agent?
  16. I wish we had. I'd have him over Ray and Pedo combined.
  17. I'll definitely get a chuckle out of all this if it turns out to be true.
  18. Confirmed: Broughton on his way to the Suns in return for Pick 37. Fremantle also parted with Pick 60. http://www.couriermail.com.au/sport/afl/gold-coast-sign-fremantle-defender-greg-broughton/story-fnahrzm3-1226502936215 Shocking deal. Broughton is tragically underrated. Would've loved to see him in red and blue.
  19. After his presser I'm already there. "I hate losing.." Music to my ears Hulk. Music to my ears. Re NAB Cup, might not be a bad way for him to dip his toe in the water. Let's not forget we beat Collingwood in the NAB last year. It's hardly played at full pelt.
  20. You obviously didn't read the punch article about how trolling should no longer be a dirty word. :D Whatever the case, you put the wheels in motion. I say bravo.
  21. I would love that. So much.
  22. Nice work Chook. Some quality trolling. I'm far from his biggest fan but a large part of me is relieved. Then again as much as Cale divides opinion (as evidenced in this thread), there isn't a single supporter who doesn't want to see him succeed. He's in a similar category to Watts in that he has his fair shate of naysayers both internal and external, but also the time and ability to prove them all wrong.
  23. Cause they've never let us down in the past..? If their judgement is never to be questioned then why have a place like Demonland at all? We can just obligingly bow to their every decision. I realise it's a bold statement to assert that Gys will be a star, but I'm still making it. I'll be sorry if he is traded at this stage. I'd like to see him go another year after a full pre-season. I also think f we can't get the best out of someone of his proven ability then that's cause for some concern. There is some sort of onus on the coaching staff here. It can't all be heaped on the player.
