Jack Trengove re-injures his navicular (2014) - trade deal off

The only thing I know for certain is that I will vomit watching Trenners high fiving Dustin Martin. -

Disregard. Was a "joke", apparently. That's the first and last time I report from the Tigers BF board. -

Reasonable post without emotion.Regarding 2012-13, we really don't know how long the injury has affected him, nor the other factors at play. My only question is if Trengove were to come back renewed after foot surgery, a big if perhaps, how would you honestly feel watching him running around in another team's colours? This isn't like Petterd, or Martin. This kid is loved. He's been a big part of what we as a club have gone through. Then add to that the prospect of giving up 3 and 12 for Beams who decides to leave in a couple of years, or us using Pick 12 on an unknown who turns into a dud. I get the part about being ruthless and taking chances. But geeze, there is a LOT at stake here. -

Reports are that he isn't happy about a move but won't block the trade. That sounds like Trenners to me. -

Nash - can't say, but the risk is clear if his dad's condition worsens. Plus the lure of playing in a premiership with his brother. If Brisbane are on a roll and the MFC are barely out of the bottom four, would you be relying on Beams to stick around? I sure as hell wouldn't. I feel the same. It doesn't feel right. If Trenners came back a renewed player post surgery and it was in yellow and black... -

Nope, merely based on what we know of the circumstances. Noises about wanting, indeed needing, to go to Queensland to be close to his family. If anything those noises have been a lot louder than they were with Clark, given it's not home sickness but an illness in the family. I'm hugely wary of nabbing him given those circumstances. -

Just read JJH's post. Thanks for the info. Interesting, attractive, but can't shirk the air of Clark 2.0 when it comes to snaring Beams at the final hour. -

Ridiculous. The more I think about it the sicker I feel. As supporters we have gone through a lot with this kid. To watch his best years unfold elsewhere would be very tough to watch. -

That deal is shizen by the way. Trenners AND pick 23 for pick 12? Richmond would be laughing. I'm not sure I could stomach seeing him at Punt Rd either. If he HAS to go, please make it Adelaide, not [censored] Richmond. -
Discussion may become null and void

Really hoping this doesn't eventuate but it is looking ominous. -
Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

Lions are going to shake things up next season - Rockliff/Beams/Rich/Redden/Christensen/Mayes/Lewis/Hanley/Zorko/Aish. More than decent. -
Geeze, you know how to deflate a bloke The challenges next year will again be kicking winning scores, as expectation on young Hoges obviously has to be tempered. Another year and a full pre-season (that old chestnut) will bode well for the midfield given our age profile. I can see us taking a significant step forward in 2015 in that regard. I guess this is always the time for Melbourne fans to feel buoyant. Right now, it seems more logical than it has in the past. The club is starting to feel settled.

I watched the replay of the Richmond game earlier. Toump was a lot better than I remember. Only the 15 touches and the odd miskick, but he has poise and time when he has the ball in hand that others don't have. I'm looking forward to what he can bring to the table next year.

Agree with the above. I can say hand to heart that if I was a player, I'd be looking at the MFC as an attractive destination compared with at least half the clubs in the league. The list is on the verge of really coming together, with as qualified a coaching panel as there is going around. Next season will still have its challenges on the field, but I think maybe, just maybe, we'll start to see it come together. Re the Dogs and Griffen, I don't care how long he "mulled" over it. If he gains success at GWS, that's not what he will be remembered for. I'm not overstating it by saying that I would be devastated if Chunk left in such circumstances, and fortunately I think the chances of that are remote. There is an obvious silver lining if the Dogs can get picks 4 & 7 in return, but it is almost certainly going to destabilise the club and you would hope, or even expect, for us to be leapfrogging them next season.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT
P-man replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
Cooked at 25? Any issue with him I suspect is between the ears, which is very fixable. At the risk of pointing out the bleeding obvious, having Garlett in the side doesn't preclude developing JKH and Kent. And we've picked him up for practically nothing, so it's a punt well worth taking. Just the prospect of him getting back to his best of a couple of years ago, which is as a 40 goal a season small forward, is at least mildly exciting. -

lol..why am I not surprised? -
Absolutely farcical decision. I can't think of one that tops it, and it is an elite field.

Interesting to hear that Flash got in his ear about making the move. Pretty excited about this. He's only 25 and his best is up there with any small forward in the league. Pick 61 is total steal. -
