  1. Garland comes back then you whack miller at CHB and Warnock at FB Frawley and garland second and 3rd up with grimes and bennell the smalls and the back half looks almost A grade. At least we will have fixed one 3rd of the footy field. Remember Miller has done good jobs on KPF types before eg: Hall Maybe try Rivers forward?
  2. How could we possibly not be fit enough? We had a 6 month pre-season. Damming on the FD if that's the case
  3. He must feel pretty strongly about it then seeing as if Bailey goes it would be a a bad look for Gary knowing how big a part he had to play in the appointment of Bailey.
  4. Glad the club has supporters like you and Vibes the optimists who see the light in all club decisions because all clubs need them.
  5. It's bloody Dark now mate! hard to see it getting any darker! So perhaps there is only light left to come
  6. patient last year. and the year before. and the year before. now is supposed to be the start of the climb. The game plan stinks we all know it deep down yet it hurts more to admit. We will not win a flag with him at the helm. Clarkson went 4,9,14,20(flag)wins in his first 4 years and that included a clean out. Bailey delivers 3,4 in two years and we give him an extension? madness. what is upsetting more than anything is the false hope the club sells us and has me dipping into my wallet to erase debt that bad administration run up, and then sell me a coach that clearly can't do the job, not tell me why I should be convinced by him, then tell me to be patient! We passed on Sheedy (even though that would have at least given us profile) and appoint a Dean "WHO" to the job. How is any of our list supposed to look at this guy and say "Yeah you must be right because you were a ripping player that contributed a lot to a side in the past" They simply can't. I was all for giving Bails a go but when it's clear it isn't working we must stop it as soon as possible. Why waste another year? two spoons on the trot is more than enough. Had we performed in the Nab cup/challenge any differently than last year and kicked more than 1 goal in our first half of 2010 you could argue means to stick to the course already plotted. But reality shows us that after the longest pre-season of all the clubs we are the least hungry least prepared and clearly the least drilled club in the competition. It makes me sick to wonder what the message to the top young kids we drafted is at the moment. Brock left saying he was stale with his footy at the dees, maybe this had something to do with playing a bad brand of footy? if this is true more will follow if this isn't addressed now. Watching Footy Classified tonight and seeing the man that had such a major role in hiring Bailey (Lyon) squirm in his seat and clearly indicate his disapproval with the structures employed by Bails and the lack of spirit within the group (And Grant Thomas gave him a right Whack as well), just reaffirms my feeling that this year which should have been so exiting for us will be a blood bath come round 11.
  7. Anyone watching Footy classified? Still think i'm over the top?
  8. Looks like so many are too scared to dare think that maybe we have got this one wrong? Also why implement a game plan that might win a game in 4 years time when we can't do it now? Are we not allowed to win now?
  9. I'm so sick and tired of defending Bailey that iv'e stopped. But being tired of it ain't the reason. The reason I have stopped defending this man is because there is simply nothing to defend anymore. The "Game plan" seems to involve this "switching at all costs" which is dependant on all players having immaculate foot and hand skills which we simply don't. He simply had to change it this pre-season. He failed. He had 6 months to reset . . . He failed. He will have to go and our administration once again will look like a basket-case having contracted and then sacked all in the same season. He's media excuses to supporters are wearing too thin now. I can't hear "Competitive" and "Training" and "Confidence" anymore. Attitude reflects leadership and this poison from the top will breed contempt amongst all who follow. MFC hear our call and tell us why you believe so unconditionally in this man? Better still I want Bailey to tell us why we should. Because right now sitting here after 3 floggings in practice matches and a rd 1 belting I need to know why I should accept the team not improving
  10. Isn't McDonald already our Vandenburg type captain? I love him but he doesn't really demand to be followed on the field does he? A Green or Davey can actually win you a game off their own boot and demand to be followed (on the field). But dare I say it Grimes more so than all of them has the combined attributes both on and off. I'd like to see Junior go around again next year but hand the captaincy over to Green, Davey and Moloney for a year or two before Grimes inevitably earns it.
  11. You were at a different game fella! Martin played well? Scully not up to pace? He was to fast for his team mates buddy Ready to dish off and hit a target and forced to hold on to it for lack of options. Maybe it was where you were sitting but it seems to me you didn't really have a great understanding of how the game was unfolding (No disrespect) Miller our most effective forward? He can't kick it straight! and I would think Petterd and Sylvia when he floats would be far ahead. Your right about Jones. Warnock covered 2 talls all day because no-one else was within a country mile of the right position in the back and made at least 5 pack spoils and several strong ground clearances under pressure in the back. For such a detailed report you seemed to miss a lot of the game. Cannot get over your summation Of Stefan Martin's game!
  12. I was at the game and have to disagree on a few of your points (nothing sinister!) Grimes was out and out brilliant. As was Trengove. Scully is interesting to watch live . . . he seems to have too much footy smarts and instinct for everyone around him at the moment. Sounds strange I know but he was always a play ahead and lacked the like minded midfield to pull-off the instinctive one touch football you see from the elite. It looked as though he battled in a way, but watching it live looked like he went immediately where you would expect the first option to be but it just wasn't there for him and he was forced into playing like a Melbourne player from the last 3 years. Miller and Jones show no improvement. Jones goes hard but takes far too long to make a decision and often chooses the second option and Miller tries very hard as always but just lacks basic marking and kicking skills. Morton has not put on a pound in bulk and needs to if he's not to be so easily bumped off the ball (Granted that's just body type but fact) Martin was deplorable at best as a forward experiment (granted we lack forwards and he's a big bugger but he just doesn't have the instinct or the intuition to be creative) he is a reactionary player that should only play down back. Sylvia is the grunt and is stuck covering too many roles. A star. Joel Mac a very handy pick up. Frawley is turning into a very good footballer. Those were in my opinion the obvious things to take out of the day.
  13. Our interstate record is breathtakingly ugly especially at AAMI and SUBI. The club really has to identify every challenge interstate as a major focus. They had a chance against Freo and again walked away with a performance that smelt of familiarity. These interstate contests can no longer be pencilled in for a loss as we need to change the culture of the club and set ourselves for those games. It starts with the preparation of the side and management of the group and unfortunately the buck stops with the coach. its one thing to have an interstate loss, but another to be smashed to smitherines every time we get on a plane. Believe it or not the Freo game was a bigger setback than many think. If a club coming off two spoons and with an air of expectancy and a chance to win some new members and some much needed respect from the footy public can dish that out then I just wonder if there really is a message getting through?
  14. Yes except payments made to players from separate organisations eg VISY etc are nothing to do with the clubs themselves (other than being a sponsor) and using players in ambassador roles is good for their organisations. You could never police it and thats why clubs that can tend to flaunt it openly. I suggest we use some of this notion that melbourne supporters are all well off ski-holidaying rich toffs and find some ambassadorial roles to offer players from our pool of company owning members!
  15. Isn't a lack of a CHF the reason we took Watts over Naitanui? Silly thread.
  16. Col Sylvia took a big step last year and is easily our hardest nut and probably second only to Flash for long straight kicking. I genuinely think with a big 2010 under his belt (and no off field rubbish) That he could lead the Demons.
  17. Watts is not Gary Lyon yet either! You could swear we were talking about our captain and leading goal kicker the way we are carrying on here! He is not anywhere near our best 22 yet. Don't lose too much sleep yet people
  18. Let's be honest it's a 40 point loss to us that doesn't matter. Why people are concerned about the NAB cup is beyond me. Carlton won it then finished bottom remember? Means nothing (As long as the youngsters get a kick and feel some bumps and pressure from some bigger bodies).
