  1. I was at the Carlton Vs StKilda game and noticed the quick and damaging small aboriginal Blues forward line. I was wondering who we could play as a small, skilled yet hard-at-it small backman. Loosing Whelan (a gun) has left a big hole in the backline. Back pocket options; Bartram is quick and tough, but his decision making probably cost us the game against the Dogs (probably should be dropped) Bennell is better as a wingman/forward (too loose as a backman, may be used if needed) Aaron Davey is better as a wingman/forward Grimes is a fantastic HBF, may be too big for the small aboriginals. Cheney, Joel Mac, are too slow for the mosquito fleet potential choices Jordie McKenzie - he is tough as nails, a great tackler, fairly quick and good decision maker. Could be a version of Akermanis who started in the BP. Neville Jetta - He is tough, quick, tackles like a demon and may be worth a look Strauss - He is being groomed as a backman, I am unsure about his speed and toughness, but has beautiful skills for a backman. Rohan Bail - He is quick and agile, hard-at-it, good skills, good on the ground and in the air, is worth a look. Sam Blease - I have not seen him play, however somebody posted a comment that he plays like David King. (if he is anything like King, we have a gun) We must develop tough, skilled, smart back pocket players just like we had with Yeates and Whelan, Ward, Brown and Walsh. Without them, Carlton will carve us up.

  3. Can anyone post a description of player performance at Casey, inc. Wonna.
  4. your a harsh critic. 1. He is 25/26 years old and played 60odd games, while battling injury 2. He can kick better than Jimmy Stynes 3. He is not a forward, he is a ruckman 4. He is not a backman, he is a ruckman 5. He beat Aaron Sandilands in the ruck in the last game he played against Freo. & He has some real mongrel about him He gets many more possesions than Jamar in the ruck As No.1 ruckman, it allows Jamar to present at full forward He is a hulk of a man and also moves around the ground very well. All for all, I reckon PJ will have a fine career at the MFC.
  5. PJ is a long term option, and a very good one at that. Give me 1 reason why he can't be.
  6. Becuase he is the biggest mark in our team. Johnson is more mobile as a ruckman, gathers more possesions around the ground and is generally more constructive with his possesions. Unlike certain people, I do not believe that Jamar's game against Carlton, ehen he kicked 5 goals was a fluke. If he can take 2 big grabs up forward per game, 2 marks on the lead and throw his weight around in pack situations, aswell as relieving Johnson in the ruck, I believe he will best serve our club.
  7. He is a senior bloke, needs to dominate a couple of games in the two's, his future is uncertain at MFC. Needs to really stamp authority or maybe he is off to the Goldies. Johnson and Jamar swapping full forward/ ruck will do the trick. I reckon Johnson is a ripper. our forward line is not bad. ff- Sylvia Jamar Green hf- Bennell Dunn Bate We need Bennell up forward as an essential live-wire. Dunn seems to read the play well, he gets lots of the ball Bate is hot or cold Sylvia and Green are able to rip the game appart. Jamar might just be our permanent full forward.
  8. Johnson for Martin McKenzie for Petterd
  9. Just maybe it was the backlash against Bailey by faithfull supporters that galvanized the boys and gave Bailey the clear signal that insipid performances are a thing of the past. It was the first game of the season and we were disgraceful. When I played footy, the team was always absolutely pumped for round one. This is why I was so angry at the performance of our boys. I thought there may have been a fundamental problem, we did not win one practice match, actually we got pumped by WA teams. I was very worried. I have always been with Bailey, except for after the hawks game. I now acknoledge it was a nervous shocker by the team, but those kind of performances should not be tolerated. If we have one of those games per year, I can wear it, but no more. Remember, there is no shortage of men who would gladly coach the Demons (also play for the Demons) and probably do it very well. To be given the honour to wear our beautiful colors during battle on the MCG is an privelidge that most people only dream about. Only the most commited will prevail. A champion team will ALWAYS beat a team of champions.
  10. Rivers is a great reader of the play and a good leader in our back six. After his 'standout' performance at Casey, you would think he is going to get picked in the backline against the Kangas. So who do we squeeze out? Our back six may look like this FB, Bartram, Warnock, Garland HB, Rivers, Frawley, Joel Mac Bruce and Grimes can be released as utilities, floating back, forward and thru the midfield. Martin will probably be swapped for Rivers this week, it seems as if Dunn is able to ruck around the ground as a back up to Jamar. Jamar seems to relish the responsibility of being the sole ruckman. Anyhow, it is a blessing to have too many quality backman, especially with Strauss and Cheney doing so well at Casey.
  11. your negativity stinks. I dare you to say that kind of rubbish to his face.
  12. If ever Dean Bailey's team puts in an insipid performance like the one against Hawthorn, I will again call for his sacking. It was the worst game of football I have seen since we got steamrolled by the saints (also under Bailey)'08'. Those sort of performance should not be tolerated by the red and blue faithful. Sure, he has turned things around, and I am with him again, but my loyalty to Bailey is not blind and I hope if he can maintain the vigour shown by our players.
  13. PJ is a very very very under-rated footballer. He has the right spirit, has good skills, can run kick and mark and is aggressive. He can play both ends and in the centre. He beat Sandilands last year and he is only 25ish. Once he is in the side, he will stay in the side for the nex 5 years. Mark my words!
  14. I have been working on this for a few years. It holds special significance now that Richmond look like they will flounder down the bottom of the ladder for many many years. Maybe it would be better for them to play in division 2 and be in contention to win a premiership. They might even get bigger crowds, and it would allow young children to happily go to the football (to watch a side win). THE FUTURE OF THE AFL 2 divisions, 24 teams 22 rounds, Each team plays each other twice Division 2 pays 80% of salary cap Final 5 in each division Bottom 2 sides get relegated Grandfinalists of div 2 get promoted North Melbourne to move to Canberra National draft starts at bottom of Div 2 or maybe an VFL affiliate feeder system going down to regional juniors. Commercial TV to get Div 1 Pay TV to get Div 2 Develop Punt Rd oval as a Boutique stadium with capacity of 20,000 Teams and divisions an example; Div 1 1. Geelong 2. StKilda 3. Bulldogs 4. Collingwood 5. Brisbane 6. Adelaide 7. Carlton 8. Essendon 9. Hawthorn 10 Sydney 11 Port Adelaide 12 Fremantle Div 2 1. Melbourne 2. West Coast 3. Richmond 4. Canberra/Kangaroos 5. Gold Coast 6. Western Sydney 7. Tasmania 8. Perth 9. Darwin 10 Cairns 11 Bendigo 12 Ballarat Having a divisional system, the bottom sides of Division 1 would battle it out all year so as not to get relegated. It would make for more exciting football all year round. Also, fans of rebuilding sides could watch young players getting wins instead of being comprehensively beaten. What are your thoughts?
  15. Why is he more speacial than the rest? Is he a god? Don't believe the hype, he is just like everyone else. No more special than the other boys. Get that into your heads!
  16. Why isnt Cheney getting a game, he is In the best players regularily. Scully and Trengove played very well in the practice matches and deserved their spot, so their was no need for VFL. If we allow Watts to keep thinking he is special, he will become soft. We must treat him like everyone else, and that means promotion to the demons is based on ripper performances at Casey. How would Cheney, Johnston, strauss, Jetta and co feel if they are performing well and watts just gets a walk up start. He is just a kid like all our other draftees. He must earn his spot by dominating the two's.
  17. Before he gets a game with the demons, he MUST dominate a game with the scorpions. 20 odd possesions is not enough, he must learn how to take a game by the scruff of the neck and impose his dominance. Skill is not enough, he must develop character. Demon character. Right now, he is just another draft pick that needs to prove himself. A couple of BOG's would do the trick. He is still a kid tho.
  18. How about Jetta. Ready made Gun. Picking Gysberts was a bit of a risk.
  19. Am I the only person who sees him as a permanent Full Forward. He can kick 100.
  20. Sylvia must be given the opportunity to play full forward. He is a big mark, powerful runner, executes defensive pressure, can kick goals and excites the fans much like good ol' Jakovich. Syliva is our best option at full forward.
  21. last last last chance! and his gotta kick 6
  22. Jetta loves to monster the ball and his oponents. He is a little ripper. A little man with a big heart. In his first year he did very well. I reckon he is a versitle small, can kick goals up forward, can move thru the middle and his tackling and crumbing ability may allow him to play back pocket if need be. Jetta knows how to go for it.
  23. Yes, Bennell looks very exciting on the wing. I like him alot.
