  1. With all due respect, if he walks, it's Melbourne's doing, not the system's. Why does Melbourne deserve compensation?

If Melbourne were playing footy like what was expected 2-3 years ago, and we maybe where the GC is now, do you think he'd walk for an extra 50-100k? I don't think he would. The club would be more upbeat, I imagine he'd be happier.

The rich only get richer so long as the poor remain inept. Melbourne isn't "rich" because of its own failures.

The sooner we acknowledge this, the sooner the club can move forward.

Remember, in 2004, Hawthorn got 11,000 people to a home game at the MCG. They got out of it themselves, drafted well and crafted a great culture.

Melbourne has failed in that regard. Hawthorn was once part of the "poor".

They tanked their way out of it, and were lucky they got Roughead and Franklin, on top of Dowler, Thorp and Ellis.

  2. There is a LOT more going on with Essendon than just AOD and more than Trengove involved at MFC (I remember at least Dunn and maybe [censored] among others mentioned in texts relating to receiving injections).

Pretty sure they were reported as vitamin injections though.
  3. some very good players had remarkably similar stats and criticisms to Toumpas in his first three years

    Cotchin Swan Hodge Ablett Toumpas

    1st 16.4 disposals 9.0 disposals 15.5 disposals 8.3 disposals 12.0 disposals

    2nd 17.7 disposals 13.2 disposals 12.9 disposals 14.9 disposals 17.7 disposals

    3rd 19.5 disposals 16.7 disposals 15.7 disposals 14.3 disposals

Ablett, Cotchin and Swan were all accused of being soft, Jimmy Toumpas is doing fine.

You'll find the total average possessions per game has gone up a lot since those players debuted, so it's not really comparing apples with apples.

  4. I don't know what everyone else is think on this site but I'm starting to have a little doubt in my mind that Mitch Clark will retire at end of the season.

Not that I want him to leave, I love Mitch and his carriages attack at the ball but as a Demon support I'm always looking at the worst because that's what I'm use to.

So lets say Mitch does leave, we have $750,000 in the cap.

If we finish 2014 in good form we could actually get a big fish.

Who is free and who do we go for.

His contract was probably heavily front loaded, might only free up a couple of 100K

  5. So we should go for hard nuts in the first round like we did with Sylvia and McLean at picks 3 and 5? How well did that work out?

It was a raging success compared to some of our other drafts.
