  1. Sure, but that's about all we had under Roos (not entirely Roos' fault either). Everyone was wrapped when we finally started attacking a bit more in Roos' last year and put it down to Goodwin's influence and "can't wait till Goody takes over" etc. etc.
  2. Yes, especially as Jones was busy with Mitchell. But Salem was OK - as many clearances as Oliver. Really missing Viney.
  3. Tyson and Hunt in. For the rest, don't believe it actually matters all that much. We didn't lose today because we chose player X over player Y.
  4. That's what they said about Damian Hardwick after every game for about 8 years. Then he won a premiership.
  5. Hawthorn have 16 players over 100 games. Or to put it another way, take off our 3 old-timers and we have 5. They have 13, most of whom were out there today. Most of our players are in the 3-5 season range, but when Nathan Jones was in his 5th season, people here were still calling for him to be dropped. We (they) have a LONG way to go.
  6. That's where the problems start. We don't, we really don't. We have a lot of potential talent, but that's about it at the moment. If we end up with even a single AA player this year, I'll be surprised. For me, I think we're a couple of years away from being a really solid side that can push into finals, and I think today showed it. I thought Salem was decent today - it's his 50th game. If you take away the 3 senior citizens, we only have 5 players who've played over 100 games. Five. The meat and potatoes of our list is in the 30 - 60 game bracket, and no matter how much talent you have, it's experience that counts (if not, GWS would have started winning flags years ago). I do think though that we're missing Viney and Tom Mac much more than we realise.
  7. Yep, another post saying "lost at selection". Which you say every week. Even when we win.
  8. I'm not really one to bag players, but Bugg ... just seems to have zero awareness of what's going on around him. Still don't feel we can have Harmes, Bugg and ANB in the same team, all 3 of them are a worry with the ball, ANB a bit less so. It's where we need players like Brayshaw to step up.
  9. It takes two. It's not just Lever, it's the players downfield as well.
  10. Brayshaw for Tyson, only other would be Weideman for Fritsch if we want more height and a bit more relief for Max. Garlett and Wagner definitely keep their spots.
  11. But speaking on Inside Melbourne, Chaplin said Wagner had been the player to impress him the most this pre-season. “Wags has been very, very good this year,” he said. “A lot of people probably don’t realise what he does, because it doesn’t always come down to stats, but he’s probably been the most consistent defender across the three games so far. “The way we want to play and the system – he hasn’t let us down at all. His best two games have been the Kangaroos and Geelong game. He was a standout for us and it’s been recognised internally, but probably not externally at the moment.”
  12. Expert or not, no-one can predict with 100% certainty how the human body will respond to any given treatment.
  13. Latest update. Progressing nicely, but McKenna "setback". Wonder if we'll ever see him in the red and blue. Sounds like Tom Mac is a bit ahead of Viney. http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2018-04-10/viney-mcdonald-continue-to-progress
  14. Maybe. But one of the reasons being put forward here for not promoting Weideman is that he had it easy on the weekend, so we can't really judge his form. But if indeed he's finding it too easy at VFL level, then surely a) that's not going to help his development and b) by definition, he's earned the right to play at a higher level?
  15. "hurt us a lot?" We kicked 18 goals, and probably should have had a couple more (bad misses, umpires). That's a winning score every day of the week.
  16. Because people who are autistic aren't human ... Normative BS, right up there with "gays aren't real men" etc. etc.
  17. Shocking umpiring, which is having a real impact on the game.
  18. 9 goals in a half, 6 of those in a quarter, but "none of our coaches have figured out how to set up the forward line" ???
  19. Let's see what the players are made of.
  20. This is where having Tom MacDonald out, Weidemann not ready, and Pederson down on form hurts us. Fritsch isn't experienced enough or solid enough physically to be playing as a KPF. At the other end, Frost. Not a smart footballer, and it's being shown up today. And the above helped by some seriously dodgy frees in front of goal.
  21. Pleased for Kent. To be honest I'm not a great fan, but he's done it hard through what must have been a difficult period, so good luck to him.
  22. No doubt Goodwin and the match committee have their reasons. Still not doing enough of what they're wanting him to do?
  23. But it's more than just one poor game. He was only so-so in the pre-season games, and one of those who was nowhere to be seen in the first half against Geelong.
