  1. For another time, but disagree. Misogyny runs deep - you only have to look at some of the commentary regarding Kamala Harris after the VP debate. On top of that, the Republicans put 20 years into Hillary, and that adds up. Also not helped by the both-sidesism and news-as-product of the mainstream media.
  2. Not as a percentage, especially blacks (12%?). Hispanic is more nuanced and seems to vary a lot by region, though the anti "left" cuban-Americans in Florida weren't all that hard to get onside.
  3. Yeah, just rampant. Onset of the colder weather and everyone staying indoors is what has really pushed us over the top.
  4. Suburbs of Paris. 30 mins from Châtelet.
  5. Pretty rough on all fronts. 30K - 50K new cases a day, and it's no longer abstract. 2 of the 3 in our household have had a week's isolation waiting for test results after being in prolonged contact with Covid cases. Scary and unsettling. Now all locked down again, all work cancelled, smallish govt $$ handout, but not the same. People generally struggling (mentally), and heading into winter isn't helping. Sorry to be so gloomy. As for riding, limited to 1 km radius/1 hour. But still better than last time where there was no riding at all, so I'm managing to knock myself around riding up and down suburban streets.
  6. That's not what bipolar is. If you're going to use a mental disorder as a slur, at least do your homework.
  7. Hard to disagree with with - but given that "proven, mature, winger" is a tiny talent pool, the chances of there being a Smith Mk 2 must be close to zero.
  8. Any evidence that we haven't?

    Clearly.

"There is a real belief in the game plan and strategy" and just to spell out where the issues lie: "however there is also an acknowledgment by all involved that there was an inconsistent execution of the game plan this season, which ultimately cost us a place in the AFL Finals."

"The review identified significant support for Simon Goodwin as Senior Coach with faith in his ability to take our team to AFL Finals success."
  12. That's a weird one, wasn't he supposed to be talking to W.A. clubs about a move home? Nek minnit ...

BEST Melbourne: Viney, May, Pickett, O.McDonald, Petracca, Langdon
  14. After the Shaw experience, suspect North will be looking for someone with senior coaching experience. Or even just someone senior (Fagan Mk 2).

You only have to read the story about Dusty to GWS in 2013 where it was all agreed and in place but then "pulled from above" at the 11th hour, to know how these things play out.

Key term there isn't "role players", it's "consistent". If players can guarantee a certain level of performance and to play in a certain way, then a place can be found for them in the team, and in a way that doesn't compromise the team.
  17. Of course. But for some people, just blocking or ignoring isn't a solution. D'land, like most social media, can quickly turn personal, even nasty, and some people just don't need that in their lives. If that's the case here, good on Skuit for doing what he needs for his own well-being and mental health.

Martin is a bit like that kid at school that was so much better than everyone else that the teachers would make him change teams at half time to even things up.

Not sure how this is going to work. Brown in but no Mac out, plus Weideman and Jackson?

Surely the only decent pick we might have coming back via trades would be for Tommy Mac? Presumably GWS will have a ***load of picks coming back from their mass exodus, perhaps they'll be more inclined to sprinkle a little of that fairy dust our way.

If we give up 23, how do we get Brown?

Odd thing to say when both Petracca and May credited Goodwin with their improvement, Viney cited him as one of the main reasons he wanted to stay, and we improved our year-end ladder position from 17th to 9th. But heh, confirmation bias.

Goodwin? Is there a single player in our forward 6 who'd get a game in either of the two teams in the GF? I think not, Fritsch might be the only one.

Where did they finish in 2016?

It's nowhere near a top 4 side, on paper or anywhere else. In 2018 Richmond had *eight* players in the AA squad. Eight. We'll be lucky if we get 3.
